So Cal
With the other RP and my samples, we should have enough for 4 more people.

So far, we got one taker with HappiVappi.

Since RP and MP were kind enough to pay, make and ship to me, I don't mind covering the shipping cost.

I'll do it if you like and need more people!

Sorry for getting back to the party so late but chores wait for no one (Just ask my wife):)

It's funny you guys should mention a true blind taste test and repackaging and re lableing.

My son said to me last night "How can this be a blind test if you can see the liquid" then he suggested he rebottle and number them and he will keep the sample information until the results come in. So at this point I don't know which is which because I'm dripping and not filling clearos, the bottles are black and I can not see the color of the liquid and all I have to go on is the number on the bottle. Whats even better is my son went camping and won't be reachable until monday night when he returns. So now I continue to vape and wait for the results. Then when the results come in I will give my opinion by number and he will tell me which samples the numbers relate to.

I think waiting until Monday to reveal is a great Idea and I certainly need more time now to evaluate.

OK, I donated a 500ml bottle of 3.6% nic from WL to the cause. This nic is about a year old, the bottle was unopened, and has been stored in the freezer the whole time. It is 36mg nic in a PG base, I am not mixing it with anything, just running the trial straight out of the bottle. The WL bottle was allowed to come to room temperature before I opened it.

The 194F for 48 hour sample is in the cooker since noon. The rest of the samples have been bottled up and ready to roll. I only have one temperature controller so the 150F samples will need to wait until the current 194F batch is done. All bottles have 34ml in them, just enough to almost fill them to the brim with very little airspace.

I was short 1 bottle so the 2 hour 150F sample will get the recycled bottle from the 194F test.

We're confused...

It seems like this is 'coming across' as test to determine to compare Ultrasonic Steeping to Heat Steeping.

But...

Unless someone voices some other desire I will do the trial like this:

Mix a 100ml batch of the above recipe.
Put 30ml into 3 different glass bottles.
Steep one bottle in the Ultrasonic at 150f for 3 hours
Steep one bottle in the Crock Pot at 150f for 3 hours
Dispense results into 10ml plastic bottles labeled: Control Sample (unsteeped), Sample A, and Sample B.
Ship 3 sets of samples out the next day.

...both the Ultrasonic and the Crock Pot were steeped at 150f for 3 hours?

So what this has been is a test to determine what affect the Ultrasonic has on juices at 150f for 3 hours, compared to normal heat at 150f, right (???). (to compare Ultrasonic steeping to Heat Steeping one would have to minimize/eliminate the "heat factor" in the Ultrasonic to be able to determine the impact of the Ultrasonic on steeping).

And so far, it appears there's at least a slight negative impact on using the Ultrasonic at 150f compared to just normal heat at 150f?

Help these two confused old hippies, please! We're not 'getting' what is 'trying to be determined' by steeping them both at 150f. TIA

I think we've pretty well determined that heat is a key factor in steeping. What is being examined here is what effect does the added cavation of UC have on the mix when steeped under the same temperature for the same amount of time.

The main question would be does added cavitation shorten steeping time over just heat.

Is the added expense of a UC over a crockpot worth it?

The test case was a mix that normally takes 5 hours to speed steep and 5 weeks to mature naturally. The fact that the mix steeped for 3 hours allows us to determine which mix has more matured in the alloted amount of time (3hrs)

Hey Danny - But for my juices 102 degrees Fahrenheit is nowhere near "heat." The tobacco flavors I make mature in 4 - 5 hours because of the UC's good vibrations. But ... perhaps more complex recipes make it a whole different ballgame? Regardless ... I can't wait (oh sure I can) for my current UC to crap out so I can get one like yours.

I'm so curious as to what method B was.

I would, however, like to make a motion to extend the discussion of results from Monday to when the other testers receive and try their samples. I will be shipping Amanda samples on Tuesday, and I still have another set of samples up for grabs if anyone else is interested.

I agree with RP Jr. Extending the announcement is fine with me. Motion has a second.

I also will get a sample set next week and my wife will cover the bottles. That way I will be able to blind testing them. I think if those who get the samples next week could do the same and the thousands and thousands of curious followers here would not have to wait even longer.
Just my two cents...
Cheers.
