Hey Danny - But for my juices 102 degrees Fahrenheit is nowhere near "heat." The tobacco flavors I make mature in 4 - 5 hours because of the UC's good vibrations. But ... perhaps more complex recipes make it a whole different ballgame? Regardless ... I can't wait (oh sure I can) for my current UC to crap out so I can get one like yours.

Mine gets pretty hot even without running the heat.

hahaha here is a post where the O.P. has tried every steeping method there is and actually tells you the results of their testing.http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/548175-more-uc-vs-crockpot-my-experience.html if you have a few bucks to blow I would just try it yourself if not use your crock pot. there will be less T.H. and faster results :)
I hope no more testers will be called, I would love to know which method was used before... X-mas :)

Thanks MP and testers. I'll start my lobbying for the Nobel Prize ;)

Hey All,

I’ve got to make up a batch of 555 and Desert Ship today so what do y’all think about this:

4 hours in the UC is 240 minutes/30 eight minute cycles.

Water temp straight from the faucet is 68 degrees Fahrenheit. If I keep adding ice cubes to the tank each time I restart a cycle, I should be able to keep the water temperature well below 100 degrees. After 30 cycles I’ll see what I end up with.

Prelim test I did while typing this post: I filled the tank, added 5 ice cubes, and at the end of an eight minute cycle the ice cubes weren’t completely melted and the water in the tank was 60 degrees.

I think this is a great test to do. that will eliminate the heat factor and give a good result as to just the vibration. do it do it ! the master of the UC strikes again lol

I'm just curious about the results, so that the nay sayers can finally move along to another thread :)

I'm a heater (I use a dehydrator btw) by easy of use, just because my UC has only an 10 minute timer.
But I'm happy with both UC and Heat steeping. Patience is not a virtue of mine. :)

The thing people don't get is the 1st very simple rule I've learnt about vaping: "If it works for you..."

Started The Batch.

Mixed up some 555 and Desert Ship, ran the water until it was as cold as it was gonna get, and began. The starting water temp was 60 degrees. After 4 cycles it's up to 70.

More later ...

do you dump the water each cycle or use the same? Maybe change the water each cycle to keep it cool?

I'm trying to keep the water around room temp. Temps for the last 14 (8 minute) cycles:

60-65-68-70-72-80-80-82 (added ice) - 78-80-82 (added ice) - 76-78-80.

I'm going to keep the water from getting over 82 degrees (which in no way can be considered hot) and see where I'm at after 30 cycles. Normally I'd be about finished by that time.

I would be very interested to here the results. What would even be better is if you steeped via heat for the same amount of time then compared the two. Could give some retrospect on the paint shaker theory:)

You mean simultaneously with a Crock Pot? No can do. I gave ours to my daughter.

But ... I do have some leftovers for comparison from my last batch when I didn't pay any attention to the UC heat build up at all. I can barely remember to turn the freakin' thing back on every 8 minutes.

The water temp in the tank started out at 60 degrees and by the fifth 8 minute cycle it reached 72 degrees. Whenever the water reached 80 - 82 degrees I added ice to the tank bringing the temp back down to the low to mid 70’s. The water temp never went higher than 82 and the average temp over the 30 cycles was 75.66666666666667.

After 30 cycles the color was definitely “there” for both flavors. Same colors as my earlier batches.

I put some of the brand new 555 and Desert Ship in two BCC MiniVivi Novas with new coils, and vaped. I also vaped some 555 and Desert Ship from a previous batch for comparison. The taste of the new stuff was a tad “thinner” for both flavors than the previous batch. Not unpleasant nor “raw” by any means. Just not as full. By the time I get around to vaping them days from now I’ll bet they’ll be “there.” Today I’d give them a 92 out of a 100.

Here’s where my assumptions kick in. Meaning I don’t know what I’m talking about. Just guessing based on my fooling around with this.

The recipe I follow doesn’t even qualify as a “recipe” compared to what you guys do. PG + VG + Nic + 1% flavoring. That’s it. There is no “melding” of flavors because I only use one flavor. After I make a batch I might combine some of the juices, give it a shake, and that’s it. A mix of 50% 555 and 50% DK Tobacco is tasty. But that’s after the UC routine.

It seems reasonable to assume that heat thins out the juice and allows flavors to blend more easily. If you leave my UC alone and keep pressing the “on” button every 8 minutes it’ll eventually raise the temp of the water to 102 degrees. (Everyone else seems to report their UC's make the water much hotter. There's a huge chance I got what I paid for and it isn't that good.) The 26 degree bump up in temp from 75.6666666666 to 102 must thin out my PG/VG mix more and allows my ONE flavor to mingle easier. The more flavorings you’d use in a recipe I think heat becomes a more important variable.

But … without heat the UC brought the one-flavor juices to a maturation point where I’d vape them right now without a problem. It was only when I compared the two batches I could tell the slight differences.

But the most fun I’ve had today, besides keeping notes every 8 minutes, was playing around with a Lambo 6.0 I was sent to review and … am I Having Fun. It’s my first experience with a VW device. I get it now. A VW device is a VV device that went back to school.

So that’s it. The entire process seemed too much like work and I’m glad I can go back to vaping unencumbered by the thought process.

Mine has a 3 minute timer. I run it for 30-45 minutes at a time.
I pay attention and don't let it get too hot. It's worked for me that way for over a year.
30 well spent bucks.

I've got one looks exactly the same, cant remember the brand, and with a simple timer plugged it, you can run it 30 mins on, 30 mins off. (by keeping the on button pressed like your doing)

The water absolutely gets hot, hot enough that it is uncomfortable to stick your fingers in. I never took a temp reading, but its easily as hot as hot water out of the tap or hotter (maybe).
