It really works!!!

I made 5 test batches of juice, one of which FA Cowboy Blend. Of that one i know its color changes after 2 or 3 weeks of steeping.
I put the bottles for an hour (2 times 30 minutes) in the ultrasonic. And BAM, the cowboy blend is colored yellow.
From the taste of it i can say that this method is worth a two weeks steep. So two weeks brought back to 1 hour :)

Perfect solution! Me happy :) :) :) :banana::rickroll:

Hey Vappa - Couple (four) questions:

What strength nic did you use?
Is your nic a PG or VG base?
Do you add PG or VG to the nic?
And finally ... what's % of flavoring?

I'm glad someone else duplicated the Grand Ultrasonic Cleaner Experiment successfully. GUCE. Does that spell juice?

It does now.

Hi Bobalex,

I use PG/VG/nic 70/30/11 in my juices.
My nic is PG based (Totally Wicked Platinum Ice 54mg).
I use a calculator to mix everything. So for my Cowboy Blend mix (made 5ml today) i use 2.38ml PG, 1.5ml VG, 1.02ml nic (from 54mg base that makes 11mg), with 0.1ml flavoring.
2% for Cowboy Blend. But for my other flavors it varies a lot of course. Most FA tobaccos go around 2-4%, with the exception of RY4 (10%).

Only (minor) issue i had with the experiment was that one of my bottles (PET) melted a bit so that the bottom became round. It doesn't sit straight on the table anymore. I used warm water and the heater was on. But in my 'old'-style steeping process i never experienced melted bottles, and there i used boiling water.
Could it be that the water also heats up by simply using the ultrasonic (molecules hitting each other, thereby warming up)? Next time i will use hand warm water to see if that makes any difference.

Anyway, the GUCE results are beyond expectations.

Never had anything melt on me. The water in the cleaner only is warm if I turn on the heat option.

Things I would do if my wife would let me:

Put the juice fixin's directly in the blender for a couple of minutes and then directly into the cleaner. No bottles until I "decanted."

I use the suggested 1 - 2% of the flavors and blenderizing and than ultra-sonic-ing should shorten the 2-day process.

But that's one of those TWHN deals.

That
Will
Never
Happen

Because the blender makes smoothies in the morning and the primary purpose of the ultrasonic cleaner is making Liposomal Vitamin C so regardless how careful I was ... she'd still think it would be unwise to mix a deadly poison in appliances we use to make stuff we drink.

I guess it's best for somebody to be the adult around here. I remember our first 4th of July. I had a couple of Huge Boxes that had labels on them that warned:

"Use Under Adult Supervision"

It took me a moment to realize ... That Would Be Me.

And then we blowed up everything real good.

ok, as soon as i get my hands on one of these machines i will try this out myself... its a great idea.. and when i read your post i said to myself "this might just work"

ive learned that nothing will steep as good as actually leaving the bottle alone for a few weeks. Until i left a bottle of juice in my glove compartment for about a month and then cleaned my car to notice i had some hot juice in there..

not knowing what i mixed in it , i vaped it and man ohhhh man... what a delicious juice i made..

i live in miami fl. it gets DAMN hot over here... the bottle was extra soft when i grabbed it and a little more than warm to the touch considering it was one of those rare "cold front" days.. it was so good.... now i have 10 bottles of juice in my glove compartment,.

Just curious, what if you put glass or some kind of beads in the bottles to help with the mixing while in the ultrasonic?

like a spray can ..?

it should help with the mixing right after you make your juice. but i dont see why it wouldnt help with the untrasonic.

I don't know if this really fits into this thread or not, but just today I started out vaping a sample bottle in a 6ml clearomizer and it definitely could have used more steeping time because it had that perfumey taste going on that I cannot stand.

The clearomizer had a persistent slow leak/flooding problem (turned out to be just a tiny translucent o-ring had riden up a bit out of place) and in the process of pouring the juice back and forth between the clearomizer and the bottle two or three times for disassembly and cleaning to find the leak the perfumey taste has vanished altogether and this stuff is smooth as can be now! Maybe just that small amount of aireration evaporated the offending fumes?

I don't know, but thought this possibly could be useful in speeding up steep times along with the cool GUCE thing.

Jeez ... don't make my life even more complicated. I'm completely happy to take my steep time from 3 weeks to 2 days. And Vappa went from 2 weeks to just an hour! Glass beads are things I would spill onto the floor as sure as God made Valium.

What I'd like to do is see if someone could extend my timer beyond 8 minutes. I don't know enough to open my cleaner and fool around inside but some bright person who knows his/her way around a circuit board might.

ironically, i've seen this same model we have with an option to go min by min to 25... so it more than likely can be done... i kept my receipt from HF and am going to take this back and go with the 30 min option machine that i found for $10 more... hoping to "ron popeil" this process the best i can... :D

I'm curious whether i can also use it for cleaning my glass and plastic bottles, A-type EGO tanks, etc. I also searched this forum to find out whether people use it for cleaning cartomizers. Some do, but say that the results are not better or worse than cleaning by soaking in vodka. I wonder...

Or, fill the cleaner with warm vodka and get the best of both worlds lol....

I'm really curious to try this.... I have an old, cheap little ultrasonic jewelry cleaner. No heat setting, but if I start with warm water, it might stay warm from the agitation.... worth a shot. The cool part of my econo-model is there's no timer.... just on and off.... so I can leave it a long time if I want to!

--------- time lapse ----------

Done! I set them in very warm water in the cleaner and let it run for 40 minutes. I dared not go any longer as while it's not exactly loud, it makes a quite determined little buzz, and I was afraid I might be driving my neighbors crazy. It's also the longest that little machine has ever run, and I don't want to burn it out. Haven't tasted yet, but the water stayed warm from the agitation, and the juices came out pleasantly warm to the touch. Also thinner! I'll fire up a nice drip atty later on and do some sampling. If this little process yielded results for me, I'll be thrilled! I rather hate waiting for juices to steep on their own.... when new juice arrives, I want to try it NOW ;)
