Ok, my wife and I have only been vaping about a month now. Just place our first order for some BWB juices. I was looking through the sticky thread about flavor reviews and saw a number of comments about 'steeping' for a few days or weeks and the flavor is better. I don't understand this, the jucie is a mix of PG / VG / and flavorings, juice isn't like a single malt scotch or a wine that ages or is it? What's the advantage of leaving a new order sit for awhile before vaping it. :(

All bwb juices are made fresh to order. Don has very particular blends and uses multiple flavorings to get the flavors perfect. I've used this analogy before- I think of it like my wife's stew...it's wonderful fresh, but it's even better a few days later when all of the ingredients have meshed together to make one unique flavor.

That being said, you never know. Everybody has different taste buds, and they're all in a different stage of repairing themselves from all the damage we did as smokers. The common advice around these parts is to try it. If you like it, vape it! If you don't, put it in a cool dark place like a shelf and let it sit for a week, then try it again. Odds are you're going to love it eventually. I have some favorites I vape immediately, and some I won't touch for at least a month. It's just another part of the learning curve vapers go thru.
Welcome to the crew! What flavors did you order?

There's a definite difference in many ejuices with some steeping time. Some, but not all, change color significantly after a few days to a couple of weeks. I've had juices come in almost clear with OK taste and develop a rich taste and a deeper amber color after a week of sitting in the dark confines of my stash box.

I believe in steeping, although to add to what Don said, if you don't like it now, wait a week and try it again.

I was pretty skeptical on steeping at first. Especially since all the flavors I got, were great from the mailbox... applewood, maple tobacco and the coffee one...cappucino i guess? But the applewood did improve over time as did the maple...my wife confiscated the coffee one from me within a day so I can say on that one.

Well I find that letting all my BWB juice steep to get the great flavor I love so much is the best ( for me ) its hard to do cause you want to vape it but trust me it is worth letting it steep for at least a week or more if can hold yourself back that long and set back and enjoy some of the best tobacco ejuice you'll find.

ya my applewood was like chewin on a piece of ceder... With a hint of smoked flavor.

Havent tried it again... I want to have it steep for at least three weeks from born date

LOL, that's exactly how I like my Applewood - like chewin' on a piece of cedar, so I prefer it unsteeped. And as far as the fruit-bacco's go, IMO the Apple kind of enhances the wood so I get more of that cedar flavor I like from Applewood than say the Cherry, Mellon or Blueberry incarnations. The tobacco really comes out in aged Applewood for me and it becomes a lot more like Apple Adirondack then.

I just wish Don added a more straight "wood" to the line up - I would buy that up all day, and I would mix it with all kinds of things. It's my most fantasy juice that doesn't exist but I know I want it. That and a "peach rings" juice to contrast with the "fresh peach" juice...but I digress, I'm all over the place here, I guess my point for this thread was that aged is different, but as a matter of taste, not always best.

Isn't steeping the most unhelpful of terms? I mean, all we're really talking about is putting it aside for a while before use aren't we...... waiting.

steeping implies doing something else.

Here's what I do; please tell me if any part of this is not the best idea;

I shake the bottle vigorously for around half a minute, then take off the cap (and the drip cap) and leave it like that for about a day, then I replace the caps, shake as before and put away somewhere for a week/month whatever.

I will occasionally take the bottle and give it another shake up during this time.

The idea of removing the caps for 24 hours came from somewhere (can't remember where); I think the point is to let the contents breath a bit. I don't really know whether I should do this or not though.

I just got my first BWB order, one 30ml bottle of 555 Exotic. It tastes amazing, right away, right out of the bottle. That being said, I have read that other flavors need some time to steep. I always try juice right away. If I like it, great. If not, I'll wait awhile. Sometimes it tastes better in a week or two, sometimes it doesn't. Good juice is ALWAYS trial and error for me. I think you'll be very happy with your Backwoods order, though.

anybody have experience with the waffle and steeping? i got my order the other day and it doesn't really taste like anything. sometimes i get a hint of waffle, but the rest of the time its like there is no flavor at all. hoping letting it sit for a bit will help?

This is interesting because, for me, I love it straight out out the mailbox. To my tastes, when it's fresh, I get a perfect blend of waffles and syrup with a good bit of butter flavor--absolute perfection. Over time, the butter and waffle flavors dissipated. And now, what's left of the bottle mostly tastes of maple syrup, though I find that a lower ohm carto brings back some of the waffle and butter flavors (my equipment is shoddy right now; I'm saving the rest for when I get my VV mod so I can crank the voltage and see what happens).

So what I'm basically saying is that if you're looking for the Waffle to taste more syrupy, let it sit for a couple weeks and you should get the flavor you're looking for (from my experience, at least).

Its insane how much RY4 changes. I just got one through a trade that is a month and a half old and its incredible. I also have a 9/15 Casablanca that I keep coming back to and trying to like but i dunno...not my cup o tea. I have one of almost every flavor now I've been going nuts. Just got a package today and my first bottle of Adirondack got upgraded to 15ml! Thanks Don! This stuff is pretty tasty already I'm looking forward to see how it changes.

CloudCuckooMan...I'm diggin' your avatar, big Wilco fan.. I ordered 10ml of 24mg Casa in the middle of July. To me it tasted terrible out of the mail. Very strong and green peppery, left a bad taste in the atty. I tried it regularly over the next few months and it definitely changed but not really to my liking. I added some MT to it which helped. After constantly reading its universal praise, I decided to order another batch. This one is 30ml of 18mg dated 9/15. Out of the mail, it had a similar taste but something was indeed different about it. Two weeks later, it is exquisite. I can't stop vaping it. The older batch still has a bad taste. I agree about the RY4. The first 2 or 3 weeks I was kinda disappointed then it was magic!

thats good to hear my casablanca is sitting at home i can't remember the date on it now i think it might be 9/15 as well...maybe it was 9/twenty something i don't know. It's getting better for sure just still not something i'd order again....but we'll see what happens. I saw Wilco two nights in a row this past weekend in Nashville it was like a religious experience.

Let that Casa sit for 3 or 4 weeks. If you don't like it then you can always swap it with someone. Well steeped Casa is a sought after commodity!

My band always plays Monday here in Pensacola since they mention our fair city in the song. We are playing Deluna Fest on pensacola beach October 14 and will most assuredly throw that one at the end of the set. Although the band are all huge Wilco fans we end sounding more like Son Volt with our original material.

It would be nice to hear from Don about different batches and how they might differ in taste, etc.. My july batch is not good. My september batch is certainly perfect in every way.
