Correct as for leaving the cap on I leave it the whole time but I pull it from the hiding place and shake the bejesus out of it for 10 min every day. some folks leave the cap slightly loose some remove the cap daily to let it breath. I don't thing there is a wrong or rite so to speak, just more of a personal preference. Some juice I don't steep as I find it better fresh if it ends up 2 weeks old I toss it.

Yes. Store it in a cool and dry location and I personally do not leave the cap on and off. However, I use warm water to excel the process.

Your reply, to me at least, is totally confusing.
"Store it in a Cool Dry location" then you go on to say "I use warm water to excel (I guess you meant to accelerate) the process".

Then you said,
"I personally do not leave the cap on and off"? Which one, On or Off? Or some combination?

I steep and store my eliquid in a cheap toolbox from Walmart. Some people like to let their eliquid "breathe" by taking the caps and drip tips off. With 3 cats and a dog, I have no safe place to put eliquid with the caps off. Some people use a warm water soak to help accelerate the steeping process. It is all about what works for you and your situation. Personally, just letting it sit in the toolbox works fine for me, and I do not have to worry about the beasties getting into things.

You will also find that you like some eliquids straight out of the mailbox, no matter what anyone else says about that particular eliquid. My daughter loves Mt. Baker Vapor's Hawk Sauce straight from the mailbox, whereas I have seen quite a few people that do not care for it until after it has steeped for varying lengths of time.

It's all about personal preference and what works best for you.

What I do is just set my juices out without the caps (unless I'm taking a particular bottle out with me). I just leave them on my dresser and shake them periodically, which my room is kinda low-lit anyway, and it's cool to come back to a flavor after a week or so and see how it's changed. Some flavors change a lot, others not so much. But I've never had a juice steep into a flavor that I didn't like as much before I steeped it. So for me it's a win win.

I shake it really well when it first arrives and let it set in a cool dry place for 24 hours with the cap off. The next day I put the cap back on and shake it again and let it set for 1-3 weeks. MBV juices sit in there for a min of 2 weeks before I touch it, other vendors I can use within a couple of days.

Steeping period is based upon vendor and your taste. Some people like MBV juices right of the mail, personally I need to let it set for weeks before I can even tolerate it. But there's a couple of juices from them I like after they steep for a few weeks. My other vendor I can steep for 3-7 days and it's ready, it's even decent right out of the mail.

Most will say an e-liquid is good for a year as long as you store it in a cool dry place.

I currently have about 10 different juices from various vendors...trying to find something I can vape all day and not get sick of..I'm finding I like more mellow flavors that aren't over powering.

Here's a few I have...I've tried them all right after getting them so far.

MBV Hawk Sauce - Pretty good so far, but I get tired of it after about 1.5 ml.

MBV Thug Juice - Good flavor, but the after taste makes me feel like I ate a bag of potpourri.

Mister E's Pure Michigan - Really good flavor, top candidate for my ADV so far.

Curious to see how these change as they steep, which partly led to this question.

Shake vigorously, take the cap off and leave in a safe, cool, dark place for 24 hours, will release the "perfumeyness" I'm told. It has worked with the liquids that were perfumey when I tried them out of the mailbox. Warm water halfway up the bottle with the lid off, can also help evict the perfumeyness. When the water cools to room temp, cap the bottle up, shake it real good, and put it aside in a dark cool place to wait on your next interest. Both these methods are said to accelerate steeping, by those who ought to know, as they have more experience than me with them.

I tend to shake them every few days until I can't stand waiting any more, and drip vape them to test the progress. Lather, rinse, repeat. Then again, I have a fairly large collection of tasty liquids now, so I can afford to say "that one needs to sit in the closet longer" without worrying about running out of liquid steeped to my taste.

The liquids I know I am gonna love, that I buy 50 ml or bigger, I don't open at all; I shake them along with the rest of the steepers when it is shake'in time, and tuck them in the back of the closet in betwen, for some time a few months down the road when my current supply is depleted.

Robart makes a cute little hobby paint/nail polish shaker. I bought a battery powered one off ebay for around 35 bucks w/shipping.
Unless I'm DIY, I don't bother with it much, but running a bottle for 10 minutes after a good hand shaking seems to aerate the liquid pretty well. You can see the little air bubbles hanging there in the mixture.

To Burp or Not To Burp? If you are patient, you can burp the air in the bottle out by squeezing it (or just open up glass bottles to do an oxygen exchange). Beware oversqueezing, unless you are really into a big mess. I burp when the liquid comes out of the shipping container, then when I shake every few days, if it is highly aromatic; putting fresh air in the bottle seems to help steeping a bit.

Whether or not you take caps off or not, I highly recommend checking them to make sure they are on properly before shaking...

The longest I think I have let a liquid steep so far is 3 months or so; didn't lose any flavor, and in most cases, vastly improved it.

YMMV! Happy steeping! And much happy vaping!!! :vapor:

Can a juice be over-steeped?

What is the recommended steeping period?
I have juices that are up to 3 months old. They color deepens and it does appear to get thicker. I make 60/40 for all my juice. Amount of NIC does not appear to make a difference as I have gradually gotten down to 9mg from 18mg and have some 6mg steeping now. I think the taste of the juice gets better as it ages.

Personally I have my own technique. Most call it absorbed.
Juice shows up at house. Date is written down on bottle. Give a good hard shake to show em who the boss really is. A firm talking too.
Droppers and caps off. Dark closet for 48hrs. Remove and replace droppers and caps. Then they sit in a dark cool place for 4 weeks.
Hey you got to show em who the boss really is. Works for my anyway.

I get a mix of this with MBV. Butterscotch and raspberry are great right away, though I do let them sit for 24 hours with the cap off. Things like their lemonades have tasted like perfume if I try them right away, but after a week are great to me.
