I quit smoking cold turkey for about a week before I started vaping this go-round (it's my fourth or fifth serious quitting attempt since 2010, and I go a few months at a time usually) and I really don't "crave" the nic most of the time. Often it's a FOOD replacement (I'm also on an low-carb diet i.e. no bread products, only protein, fruits, veggies, and whole wheat tortillas/pasta and rice) but I'm bouncing between 24, 18, and 12, and not feeling like I'm missing out at any level, but I only smoked for seven years, so... YMMV. It's a very personal thing. I'd worry less about cutting back on nic in certain increments and more about making sure you don't go back to stinkies. If it takes 24mg juice for a year to keep you off the cigs, do it.

I'm at a point where I'm sure I could be vaping 0mg juice, but I don't want to push myself so hard that I break the good habits I'm trying to form. I order juice in 12 mg now, and won't go lower until I start DIYing, but I have no real reason for this other than 12 is a nice round number.

When I started vaping (after 21 years of smoking tobacco) my first instinct was to purchase cartomizers with 'high' nicotine but after a while, I realized it was too much for me. I vape just like I used to smoke - all day as long as I'm awake! I felt like the high nicotine was making my heart race sometimes so I switched to the 'medium' level. That was better but several months later, I went on to switch yet again to the 'low' level and for the same reason.

I'm totally happy now with the low level of nicotine... except for one thing - My favorite e-juice is 'Double-Mint' which I order from Liberty Flights but, they frequently have none of the low nicotine level of it in stock. (so I've adapted to that by ordering well before I actually run out)

I'm new, but also a fan of the LF Double Mint :thumb: If they don't have low nic, you can always get some high nic and no nic and mix the two.

Quiting nicotine sounds terrible...

It depends. I had a tough time moving from cigs to vaping, but did it (and I could never have quit smoking as I sure tried that a billion times...the longest I ever went was a week, and that was seriously awful).

I had a little trouble cutting my nic levels, but nothing resembling quitting analogs in the first place.

My mother effortlessly dropped 10% on the nic and never really noticed. Everybody's different.

I do not plan to stop using nic in my juice. When I tried to quit before I was cranky, depressed, unable to problem solve or make reasonably rapid decisions. I'm at 4mg nic and it suits me to a tee. There are too many studies out there now saying some nic in your system is desireable. I'm 72 heading for 73, have no signs of incipient alzheimer's and I'd like to keep it that way.

Nicotine is no worse for me than caffiene, I enjoy both. The hand to mouth and oral thing has been of much more importance in my being comfortable not smoking cigarettes. I smoked for 55 yrs the last 20 of them at 2 cartons a week and I stopped that the day my gear came, so I feel very comfortable with what I am doing now ;)

You inspire me!

When I started I had 12, 18 and 24 mg juices.... about 6+ months in I ran into a taste problem where everything I had tasted too strong or just plain bad. I went to the local hobby shop and bought some Wilton's glycerine. I used it to cut the juices I had and used it straight.... found out I could do with little or no nicotine.
It has now been 2 years and I now buy either 6 mg or 0 mg juices and most of the time I am still cutting with 50/50 base from ecigexpress.... don't miss the nictotine at all... I seem to be more interested in the hand to mouth part of the habit and making 'smoke'

Depending on how long you have smoked, remember you body was use to that amount of daily Nic ( me I smoked for 25yrs & 2pks a day for many of them ) for me the first month was 36mg, then to 24mg for a good solid year, then a year at 18mg, then about 6-8 months at 16mg, and now still at 12mg, and have been vaping for about 40 months. I'm just now ready to drop down to 10mg, and at night time during the week I do 6mg because I can get to sleep earlier when I should be getting to sleep rather then staying up till 2am every night.

Everyone is different, so just keep in touch with what your body/brain is telling you that you can get away with on the mg's, and it's good to have a 2nd mod set up with a lower mg for say after 6pm, I've found this really helps me to wined down for bed at night rather then being amped up when I hit the sheets :) good luck yogisd
