my boyfriend currently uses ego batteries and mini vivi novas.unfortunately he isn't very motivated to quit cigs and he will often ignore vaping most of the day in favor of smoking.

i don't grill or pry him about this but listening to his voluntary comments I'm getting the feeling that he just misses the cigarette experience. he has tried state and says it gives him little over reg nic.

i know some will shout to go bigger...get a provari. but i think the dissimilarity to a cigs might be the problem.

has anyone ever moved down to a volt from something larger? did it work for you to get you off smokes?

I have some Volt bats for those times when I want a cig-a-like. I mentioned in
another thread that after years of smoking outside, I feel the need to do just
that and having the 808 gives me the fix. Good for stealth also.

Part of the psychological addiction I guess.

But I still love my Lambo, too!

I think getting him a mini would be worth trying. Little psychological things can make a huge difference when it comes to dropping analogs. I use (and absolutely love) Volts because I need something close to cigarette size. I still go outside to vape most of the time, just because that was part of the habit. I vape the same way I smoked, I just traded the cigarettes for a PV, and I know I wouldn't have quit smoking if I started on something bigger than a mini.

Unfortunately, he's going to have to WANT to quit the stinkies, so nothing is going to work until he genuinely wants to give it up. Stubborn is stubborn!

I've read of some people that need to use an automatic cig-a-like every once in a while when they are really craving the smoking experience. It certainly couldnt hurt to get one to have him try.

Honestly it sounds more to me like he's just not really ready yet to invest the difficult effort in switching over. He's comfortable smoking and vaping just doesnt give him the same feeling and it never will because it is different. Hes' got to be ready to accept it will be different but the benefits do out way what he will be giving up before he will be able to make the switch. Good Luck :)

I'd disagree here. I certainly wasn't one to give up. Bought a Screwdriver as I was visiting friends who didn't smoke.
Upon returning home I was hitting it more than ciggies.

I prefer vaping :)

Quitting by accident is great, isn't it? :)

It was kinda the same for me. I got an e-cig just to try it, see if they were better than the old ones were. I figured at best I would vape and smoke together like I had before. After a few hours of vaping, I didn't even want an analog, they suddenly tasted horrible.

Not that I actually recommend this because they're super expensive, but Blu batteries/"filters" are 510 compatable so you can upgrade/downgrade with those too. I had so many bad experiences with them over the year that I was using them though that I can't really recommend it, but that you can pick up a started kit at pretty much any Walgreens is really handy. BUT, a Blu battery kit + a drip atty might be very cig-a-like

Anything is worth a try, but I'm with other's here...you have to want to quit for the most part. Obviously there are some fellow posters who just kinda quit accidentally, but I don't think that's the norm. For the first week or so of vaping I really had to focus my energy and my thoughts...vape, don't smoke....vape, don't smoke.

I desperately missed the feel of a cig initially...I don't know, sometimes when I read people's testimonials I think to myself..."was it really that easy for them?" I mean, it's easier than anything else I've ever tried, but I can't say my PV somehow just magically made me not want to smoke...I had to work at it. Heck, there are still times when I feel like a pull off a real stinky would be great...and then I just hit that PV harder than ever. It probably took me a good 2 weeks or so before I felt like, "yeah...I got this."

For me, it was just the perfect storm really...just got some bad news from the doc and it definitely put me into one of my gotta quit these cigs moods...just a couple days later I stopped by a buddies house that I hadn't seen for awhile and he just so happend to have taken up vaping...a couple weeks later, I was on bored....but I was ready and willing to give up the cigs...I wanted it. You have to want it.

For me, I couldn't make the switch because of the "Fiddle Factor" also. For me, the fiddling factor was using attys, but clearos were worse.

It wasn't until I put a 2.0Lr Boge carto on a 3.7 battery that I could finally call it quits. And, unflavored juice. This is still what I use to this day.

In my case, I really wanted it to work- it's just that I'm a simple kind of man, and just want a nic fix, not another hobby.

If he doesn't vape this time around, then maybe later- it'll be in his head as an option until then.

Form factor can make a big difference. I use the Blu Premium 100 kit during my business day and when out running errands. I like the no muss, no fuss and the prefilled cartos. The charging pack is just like a pack of cigs and does a good job of keeping a battery charging, while using the other. I can hold the "cig" between my fingers while driving or doing other things. Can't do that with bigger PV's. It's also more like holding a real cig up to your lips to take a puff and the draw is more similar to a cig, as well. I imagine the Volts would be a great choice, as well. I hear a lot of good things about them.

You can buy a 808 kit at myvaporstore (and they have coupons you can find) for $30, 510 is $35. You might even find them cheaper at other places.
This will give him more of the "feel" of an actual cigarette experience and could potentially work. For $30 it's worth a shot and if it doesn't work, you can always use it as a backup or a device for specific activities/purposes.

Some people enjoy and are addicted to the "act" of smoking and for those people, cig-like devices often help curb that desire.

I quit analogs on the standard Joye eGo. But I'll be honest, there were days that I really wanted a cig months afterwards. I do not recommend the Provari to try and get him to quit, it's an expensive unit and well VV may not be what works for him.

Try different resistances in your atty's as a first step, then second step maybe an eGo Twist, see if the VV is what he feels he is missing. Up his nic level also. If the twist seems to satisfy most of his issues except the consistancy issue you will have as the battery drains, then get a Provari, because then you are addressing specific problems. My wife has been using her's for about a year and she finally told me she wants the provari mini because the ego's are not constant enough for her. She still hates the size, that's always been a big thing for her.

Also I'll be honest when i stopped getting that nasty urge for a regular smoke finally went away was well, when I understood more about vaping, there is a learning curve especially recognizing an atty that's dying and not trying to milk a few days longer out of it. Lastly was when I got my Ali' I knew variable voltage was for me. Still had the frustrations with the attys going and not knowing it, so when I got my Provari, my last and final complaint about vaping disappeared :)

Unfortunately all this means a bit of work even if you buy it all for him on his part. He has to make the effort to try different things and figure out what works best for him, so if he's really not interested in quitting he wont.

might want to look into V2 as well, great cust service, lifetime warranty, and the flavors (if not refilling) while not awesome, dont suck. did it for about 3-4 months myself till I got tired of filling carto's and changing batts all the time.
If ya want a cheap blasting hitter get a bolt and slap a low res tank on there, youll get a choker for sure lol

for me I found i really didnt care about the looks as long as I could close my eyes and feel the smokey feeling fill my lungs, and that nice rough exhale, thought I wanted a cigalike till I figured out I just want to feel like im smoking not look like it.
