Interesting about the cotton and juice. I'm using cotton in a Russian right now so I really don't have any benchmark for comparison. I have been thinking about trying Ekowool or silica in it since from what I have read they were designed for silica wicks.
One thing I have noticed so far is I'm really tasting the egg nog. Gonna have to cut it way down. Never have been a fan of that drink and only wanted a little of it for the nutmeg and cinnamon. Well, I sure have those flavors plus some....lol

Thank you guys/gals for this thread. I have been looking for a good Vanilla Custard recipe to make. I had alot of these flavors and bought the ones I didn't. I made up a batch of this awesome sounding juice yesterday. I left the caps off all night and just put them back on this morning. Now the wait begins. I think I will just let them sleep for at least a week before I will even think to test them. This juice really smells nice in the bottle. The eggnog add's a nice spiciness to the smell. I am really looking forward to this juice. Will get back to this thread after it ages awhile and put in my opinion. I'm sure this will be extremely good after it ripens. :)

Why certainly :)

Here's a 15ml batch with my prefered nic level and nic base. Don't forget to change the values to suit your own preferences, whether it be for nic, nic base or pg/vg ratio. Plus, as always, feel free to play around with the flavors and percentages. Like they say: taste is subjective. (common people, that phrase had to be uttered sooner or later in this thread, right?) :)

Anyone care to upload their .rec file from ejuice me up? I want to make sure I have this right

I don't have the .rec file, but I can tell you that post #183 is darn close to the money at least the way I'm making mine. The only difference is I lowered the Cap Vanilla Custard to 12% and lowered the Egg Nog to 1%. Hope this helps you a little until someone with the .rec files comes around.

I tend to leave the cap off overnight the day I mix it. From what I can tell the strong smell is the egg nog. It does go away.

The main change I did in my tweak was swapping vanilla swirl for the smooth. I have smooth. Just not a big fan of it, and can't tell where it does too much on most of my recipes. I wanted a hair more vanilla, so I used the swirl. I tried using TFA vanilin, but it masked some of the other notes. I also dropped a few flavor %s ever so slightly to lower the steep time. I have mixed over 1500ml of this recipe.

Cap. Vanilla Custard 15%
Cap. Egg Nog 1%
Cap. Butter 1.75%
TFA graham Clear 1%
TFA sweetener 5%
TFA vanilla swirl 1%
TFA whipped cream 3.5%

Right now I mix it at 55vg/45pg and it vapes great in all my tanks. I have mixed it from 40/60 to 60/40, and nic from 6 to 24. They all turn out well.

Only thing I have noticed, and it disappoints me, is this recipe (or the original), don't vape well with a cotton wick. I tried it in a rebuilt kanger PT2 coil, as well as a cotton build in a KFL. For some reason, for me at least, with the cotton I get a really sweet taste, but don't get all the flavor notes. Anyone else experienced this?

Bumped this up as a helper, its Stevo's latest see also post 170 for his screenshot.
Hope this helps

Understood about recipes. I lost count of how many I've made so far. I actually liked most of them and the differences as I progress are becoming more and more subtle almost to the point of diminishing returns....lol. But, I did want to come up with a great custard so I will plod on and maybe one of these days I'll hit on that "OH WOW" recipe. Can always hope, right? lol

The updated one in post 183 is the latest original. The recipe in post 185 swapped smooth for vanilla swirl and was not from the OP AFAIK.

THE OP is not svt54. The OP is Vego

Sorry for that, my apologies to OP Vego. I was just trying to be helpful, but please tell me why is the thread called Stevo's Vanilla Custard? great thread but getting a bit confusing.
Anyway thanks for correcting me, its appears that three OP's are listed on this post alone as I said above Great Thread but getting confusing.

NO need to apologize. I think all options are good to have. That one change may make the difference for someone. To tell you the truth I have no idea why it is "stevo's" and I do agree it is getting confusing. That is why I wanted the latest from the OP listed so that is known. Whether it is the best rendition is another story :)

So the OP or others still have not posted their comparison to Grant's Custard. I thought the main reason for this thread was to compare how it tastes to Grants. I saw someone post an offer to send him some, and someone else posted that they got a shipment of Grants as well and would post a comparison, but nobody has. Would like to see these results.

Sometimes threads get a little off track of peeps move on to other things.... hopefully we will hear from the OP or others soon.....

I have made up a few bottles of this juice and its the best custard I have vaped so far. When I mixed it I didn't have any smooth so I replaced it with simply vanilla and its awesome. I just made up 150ml of it again and took out the simply vanilla and added the Vanillin. Its been steeping now for a week or so. I am going to just let it sleep in its dark home for a month then break it out and try a bit. I'm sure its going to be really good. I want to thank the OP for this recipe for this juice. Everyone that I have let vape it or have given a bottle to has absolutely loved it. This Vanilla Custard will be a DIY that I will not be without. Thanks again!!

I would drop the sweetener first, VG at 50%+ is sweet enough, especially using cotton, IMO.
If you must, try TPA Sweet Cream instead @ 1-2%...

Note: Try a small batch with 0 nic, as some brands of nic are more bitter, and also higher nic content.

Just mixed up yet another variation...

10ml, 50/50, 0 mg nic

Cap. Vanilla Custard 12%
FW Cinnamon Roll 1% (no egg nog)
FW Butter Pecan 2% (no butter)
TFA Graham Cracker Clear 1%
TFA Sweet Cream 1% (as sweetener)
TFA Vanilla Swirl 1%
TFA Whipped Cream 3.5%
CAP NY Cheesecake 5 drops (works like smooth for me but probably not needed).

In the UC now

This one is going to be fun to play with, add a little Almond, or Hazelnut ?

I've been having a ball trying out different variations on the original recipe. I don't have the TFA flavors you are using, but do have similar ones from FW or Cap. Your last recipe looks quite interesting and I'll be curious to hear what you think about it.

BTW... used to live in BC... corner of Second and Chase.... really miss it and MI in general....
