I made a version of this, dropping the sweetener and custard a bit:

Cap. Vanilla Custard 12%
Cap. Egg Nog 1%
Cap. Butter 1.75%
TFA graham Clear 1%
TFA sweetener 1%
TFA vanilla swirl 1%
TFA whipped cream 3.5%

60/40 @ 18mg

I let it steep/age for 3 weeks.....And it's amazeballz!

thanks to the OP for starting this rolling and everyone who contributed. :toast:

I've been trying to make a great custard for quite sometime and finally stumbled on this thread. Looks like a solid recipe. In my personal journey, I was trying to clone Suicide Bunny OB and Mother's Milk. I accumulated the following flavors and no combination I could come up with tasted like anything I would ever mix again.

My experience also revealed that all my bavarian cream flavorings are really chemically tasting. I don't have the patience for a 4 week steep so who knows if that would improve over time.

I think what I'd really like to get out of SteveOs recipe is the egg flavor, but umm not the nog? I don't like spicey tasting or cinnamon flavors in the least bit.

My secret weapon is Flavor West Yellow Cake. But only at 1-2% otherwise it's completely overpowering and makes your mix taste like breakfest cereal, (Trix?) which is actually kind of good but not a great component in a custard. Anyways, here's what I've accumulated in my many failed attempts...

Bavarian Cream (Vanilla) (LA)
Bavarian Cream (NF Organic)
Cheesecake (LA)
Custard (FA)
Marshmallow (LA)
Marshmallow (TPA)
Organic Vanilla Cream (NF)
Vanilla Butternut (LA)
Vanilla Classic (FA)
Vanilla Custard (Cap)
Whipped Cream (TPA)
Yellow Cake (FW)

I guess I need to order butter and eggnog and give this recipe a shot. I have all the other flavors for SteveOs recipe. I might add some butterscotch though as I have that on order and have been wondering if that is the real secret in some of the great vendor made custards/creams.

I also have been experimenting with a hint of lemon flavoring (not actual juice) with Capella's Vanilla Custard. It's more of the type of custardy flavor I want instead of spicey.

I would really like to figure out how to get an egg flavor. I might settle for some banana cream instead. Hmmm, banana cream, lemon, and egg would all be nice! Ok I've gone cross-eyed.

FA Custard, has a slight lemon note to it. I enjoy it to vape, all by itself, or I'll add a bit more lemon, mint, or vanilla.

I too am on the "custard" quest and understand we all are looking for slightly different nuances in our juices. So far, I've been getting a nice egg flavor using the Capella Butter and Capella Marshmallow flavors. I use those two along with the Cap Vanilla Custard. I also put in a bit of TFA Vanilla Cupcake. Per cents have varied, but the Vanilla Custard is main ingredient @ 10 - 15 %. Butter and Marshmallow are generally in the 1 - 2 % range. TFA Vanilla Cupcake .5 - 1.5 %. Oh, almost forgot.... TFA Brown Sugar "to taste".

DDL - I have it, I've used it, and don't care for what it does.. What does DDL do to your mixes ? or what flavor does it impart, I can't figure that one out.. anybody??

DDL does nothing for my custard mixes. I've mixed through a ton of recipes by now. It just kind of mutes the overall flavor with a off caramel milk taste(very light on the caramel). It kind of hides some of the harshness CAP VC has in my opinion.

On the note about Egg Nog- I really, really, like the Egg Nog stronger in VC mixes. 2% usually is great and IMO doesn't come off spicy at all(after steeping a 2-3 days) and I think it helps contrast the rest of the flavors in the mix. As of now, I'm getting in a lot of different creams from every company I can think of and I'm going to attempt a custard with little CAP VC. I personally think it's too strong in most recipes. After 10% in a mix- it's far too strong and IMO not in a good way. I'll post again soon with my new findings and endeavors. I also see where Brown Sugar could be be used with a mix at 1-2% I also think FA Meringue and FA Vienna Cream could be in a decent percentage in a good Custard recipe. I should know more in about a week. :)

I made up a slightly different version,

CAP Vanilla Custard 16%
TFA French Vanilla Deluxe 3.5%
TFA Dulce de Leche 2%
CAP Butter 2%
CAP Egg Nog 1.5%

Steeped it for 2 weeks and it's not ready yet :( Egg Nog is over powering the mix still, not as much as freshly after mixing but still too much, gonna try breathing it some and leaving it another week or so...

The DDL definitely settles down and blends in after a while, I wouldn't go above 3% on it though...that bloody egg nog is driving me nuts, I wish i'd left it out or switched it with brown sugar, though i have made a tester 10ml with just 1 drop in it, that still has a week or so left before i'll let myself test it...

Maybe I'll give the DDL a try again. I think the flavor would really go well with the custard recipes but I became frustrated with it always coming to the forefront so so speak. Brown Sugar is a flavor that I really like and maybe raising the % of it would help.
Don't know what the % of Egg Nog is @ 1 drop in 10 ml, but I'm sure it is looooow.....lol.

If the Egg Nog isn't settled enough for you after day 3 or day 4- it probably will always be too much for you. Try .5% perhaps. Maybe less will be more for you. (I can mix Egg Nog alone and vape it and it doesn't bother me, I quite like it.) :p

I also don't know about Butter or how it's helping the mix. For me VC taste a lot like butter to begin with. It may be too much richness in this mix as well(just from a personal perspective.) :p

I do quite like the Egg nog, i'm just finding it doesn't do the VC any favours (for me) at that %. Have you any other Nog recipes I could try?

Are all these flavors safe to vape? Sound pretty sketch.
I would say the decision whether to use these flavors or not is a personal one. Some say they are anathema, others are on the fence, and yet others have no issues with them.
Some do have the evil "custard notes" in them. Personally, I use them and enjoy them. I hope I will be able to continue to do so and that others will not infringe on my rights to use what flavors I prefer. I do not particularly need anyone to babysit me and I take umbrage at the thought actually. I understand there is risk in anything we do -- vaping is no different. I accept the risks and leave others alone to their own ends. (end of rant.....lol) :toast:
