I just got a JOYE stick and its pretty good. Not as much throat hit as the 510 but tons of vapour and satisfaction.

With my 801 I did a good job of flooding it and having juice oozing out the sides, and the atomizer seems is pretty much the same so i'm a bit concerned about this considering I only drip.

The problem is, the chamber on the stick is quite inaccessable for cleaning and im quite concerned about juice somehow leaking on electronic parts, so - whats the general maintenance plan? I'm already only plopping minimal amount of juice on the atty.

I was thinking of unscrewing the atty each night and leave the Stick and the atty on end on some toilet paper to get rid of any excess juice.

Also, the 801 atty seems to be the same, i've got a few of these lying around and would like to get a bit more life out of them, is it OK to pop these in? The ones with the white coating are a bit of a snug fit.

Flooding your stick probably won't do much to the electronics, apparently the PCB is conformally coated to protect against this, but it could affect the manual switch if it gets excessive (it could cause it to start peeling off, or could jam up the mechanics apparently). Leaving it to dry overnight might help. You can pretty much use any 801 atty you can jam in there. It'll take quite a bit of abuse. Good luck.

My Stick button started malfunctioning. My theory is that my atty was getting quite clogged and wasn't vaping well, but I persisted, especially dripping to force more vapour. Result was too much unburned juice which eventually made it's way into the battery compartment (found juice on the battery), and ultimately, the switch, causing it to malfunction. I tried cleaning out the battery compartment with paper towels and left it dissasembled to dry out, but this was only partly successful.

The body was swapped out under warrenty and now I make sure I clean the atty regularly, hasn't re-occured.

Thanks for the replys.

I actually managed to work around my cleaning fears as i'd purchased a 510 converter with the device, which I initially couldnt get working, it works now so i'm just using 510 attys with it and well quite frankly its awesome, like a mobile passthrough. The nice thing about the converter is that it provides quite a lot of protection.

The problem with letting things 'dry' with respect to vaping, is that PG and VG are basically the foundation of cosmetic moisturizers and as such, resist the whole drying thing. If you want it to dry, you have to clean it with alcohol or some other solvent that evaporates in air. That's when you begin rolling the dice (did I fix it or did I just make it worse?).

Hi there ... also in CT ...
where did you get 510 converter ???
Phillip from Twisp has promised to get me one...
I have stick and Dura/510 units - Prefer 510 atomiser :)

I got mine from a China supplier (HG), which is where I got my stick from also as I found the Twisp starter kit quite pricey.

It all I use now, the 510 converter, it's probably just me but i've had some bad times using the low and high bridge 801 attys with it.

I must say how much I enjoy using the stick...

Also love my stick...so much so that I'm going to order a backup from Eastmall this week. They have a special for $67 which includes 100ml liquid (normal price $30) which means the stick kit is only $37 (R280)!!! Unbeatable value on both the liquid and the stick

I also picked up the 901 adaptor from Janty Europe (just before HG advertised them cheaper :() and they arrived in less than a week. Not sure if they have 501 adaptors too but I can recommend their service:)

I have a spare body, and was thinking of buying another complete kit but i'm just holding myself back as I tend to buy to much stuff!

The next device I will order is the Stick V3 - I know not much of an upgrade but as a stick fan i've just got to have one.

The only thing i'd really like to find is batteries that last longer, not a biggie just a nice to have.

I think they've pretty much maxed out the storage density for these AAA size Li-Ion batteries, I don't think you'll find much out there that will be significantly different from what Janty sells with the stick (even though the advertising may lead you to believe differently). Brand quality does vary though, some last longer than others on average, but then again, so does build quality within a brand, so it's kind of a wash. Just buy a bunch, they're cheap and fast to charge.

:evil:Hey ... The Janty/Twisp guys have brought out a new unit - eGo :
510/dura atty with a fat 600 mah battery - I am sooo tempted - but first tell me about your china supplier (address please) HG???
Gotta stop spending money on this new addiction - Twisp is too pricy :-(

Later RICHe ...

The eGo does look like a great unit and the reviews on here have been good.

However, I also look at the overall running costs and convenience of a device. The stick doesnt have the long term battery but they are dirt cheap, they can plugged it into a USB port for charging and it doesnt look like a cig and i've dropped mine many times but it just keeps going.

The only 2 things I hate about the stick is the battery comparment cover and the deep "well" for the atty, the later can be circumvented with an adapter.

I might seem like a Stick freak, and I am - I have just found it a really dependable and flexible device which I couldnt really see myself changing from for a while.

I see you found HG :)

Dirt cheap? Twisp sell the ego and stick for the same price afaik, or did you get a Joye Stick?
Edit: Never mind, read your post above. The Chinese going to copy the ego anytime soon, or maybe beat Janty to releasing the Baby-J?

I'd also like the V3 - in rubberised finish  Would definitely help with the dropping....but for now, the differences in V3 and the price on the V2 from EM are just too great so I'll stick with the backup V2 (a body is all you really need).

I ordered 4 600mAH Trustfire batteries off eBay last year. They took 5 weeks to arrive over the Xmas period, but have almost double the life of the standard batts and work perfectly. Cost around R50 (including postage) for 4 (i.e. less than the cost of 1 Twisp/Janty battery in SA)!

I have flooded my stick twice - once it fell out of my pocket while trying to fix a leak in the toilet cistern, and the second time I was pushed into a swimming pool with it in my pocket. Both times I just blew out the excess water and left it in the sun for about 30 mins. It dried out and still works perfectly. It gets dropped regularly, tossed in pockets with keys and has never faltered....so I can't complain about the quality at all.

I'm not finding the Twisp (Janty) Stick that reliable. I'm going for my 3rd warranty exchange soon. The first was admittedly my ignorance, I had a dud battery in the starter kit and thought the stick was not charging. They exchanged the whole thing, including battery and atty, so I thought that solved the problem, only realising after some thought that it was most likely just the battery. The second exchange was because the button stopped working properly, they gave me a new body and atty. Now this one, after about a month of working well, won't stop charging. I tested with both batteries, fully charged in a wall charger and Stick just keeps on trying to charge them endlessly. I reckon the electronics have packed up.

seems to be the luck of the draw....I bought 2 stick kits on 2 Oct 2009. One packed up 2 days later and was replaced. Both have now been in continual use since then and no further problems (except for the paint taking a real beating (my girlfriend is particular hard on hers, throwing it loose into her bag and dropping it everywhere).

I have just ordered 2 V3 bodies from Health Cabin ($30 each). These are rubberised and the button has been improved, so we'll retire the V2 as a backup and start using the V3 bodies when they arrive. If you have the V2 kit (i.e. cable, atty, batts, etc) $30 for a new body isn't bad at all....and HC give 5% discount for orders under $100, 8% over $100 and free shipping over $250

Mine got dropped in the cats water bowl, still worked fine afterwards :)

HG, HC (Health Cabin) and EM (EastMall) are all great if you are willing to wait a little while for your order to arrive
