I have done everything to try to get my mother to quit smoking. I live next door to her and I refill all her tanks and keep everything maintained. All she has to do is remember to plug in her MVP.

But I can't get her to stop. We went shopping today and I don't like smoking in my car now and she did have her battery with her. She puffed on it all the way down there with no problem. When we got there she hopped out and said "I've gotta have a real cigarette!" A couple of puffs and she was hacking away.

And when I called this to her attention I was told promptly to shut up. I guess some just don't want to accept it. I much rather have my tasty Raspberry Tea then those nasty tasting thing...Which is strange cause I loved those things for over 20 years!

Sorry to hear that.

My Mom started with the cigalike devices then graduated into a eGo style device. She has shown no interest in a mod, box mod or even a boxy battery, neither has my wife.

I'm just wondering about this, and obviously I don't know anything about the health of your Mom except that it sounds like smoking stinkies causes her to cough... but, have you tried adjusting her NIC level upward? I don't think it would have been as easy for me if I had not started at 3.2%+.

Does she have any actual complaints about vaping?

Also, the hardest thing for me about switching from analogs was the habit of reaching for an analog. I have even searched my pants looking for that box and lighter... one day just sitting at me workbench I unconsciously reached over, grabbed a pack, and went to light it... I have since gotten rid of the cigs so that doesn't happen again. Long story short (too late), I think it will be easier for her once she doesn't have the smokes readily available... once she goes through the craving and satisfies it through vaping.

Also, did you try to find something that tasted the same as her smokes... or did you go with non-tobacco flavors?

Some of us just can't vape and never look back. If she's at least *reducing* the amount she smokes, it's a good sign. Just give her some time. She'll get there.

(speaking from experience here as I still duel analogs)

I almost mentioned you specifically, lol, along with a few others. For sure, it's good to remember that while any of us may have made the choice to stop stinkies, there was a time before that...

She may just need to find "the one, " that flavor that is an ADV, that will make her PREFER the vape over the cigs. I know that's the way it worked for me. Can you coax her to a shop where she can sit and do some taste testing? I recently did the same with mom, and when she got all excited I knew that was it lol.

You mentioned a mvp, it could be a form factor, do you or does she have a ego or evod that she might be more receptive to form wise?

I would use some cheap cartos and fill & label with some new flavors, also make sure the nic level is enough.

Let her discover them and if she likes any of them she'll come to you. I'm afraid if you continue to push she'll become resentful.

My father refused to even try an ecig, even when he saw that I dis quit after 20 years of a pack a day. That is until he got diagnosed enphisema (sp?) and then asked me for an ecig. Gave him a couple, with juice to spare and all the bells and whistles, he stopped his habit of smoking 4 packs a day to zero... for about 5 months. Then he smoked just one cig, then two... and now he´s back to about a pack a day.

Have I said something, yes; but at the end, it´s HIS decision and I can´t make it for him.

I have seen this behavior on multiple friends: They get an ecig after seeing it worked for me, then they stop the cigs and then on a party while drinking they take a drag from a cig and they progress from that to going back to smoking.

For me it was the form factor. I was a 40 year chain smoker and started on cig-sized with cartos. My wife and I slowly eased into ego-sized and she never went to anything bigger (no snickers).

I have, over the next 2 years used bigger 18xxx sized mods, and tried box mods. I just could never get used to the box style, and only use 18xxx mods at home. For out and about, I always grab an ego style.

Sometimes an old smoker just needs something that seems like...well...smoking.
