So I find it wierd that I have been smoking e cigs for almost a year now and I come on here and feel totally lost. All these people using these abbreviations and all this modding and such. I've been using V4L the whole time and have really wondered whats the most i can get out of these things. Can someone help me out and explain all these terms or point me in the right direction? Awesome thank you.

I don't know I love the flavors and everything but when i first saw some guy smoking in Best Buy he was talking about like tea bag mods or some other thing to make it hit harder etc and I've been told that V4L is different that others because they cartridges have the atomizers in them so does that mean i can't mod or do i have to be more creative with it?

V4L only uses cartomizers. They are a combo of a atomizer and cartridge... you can buy a 901 atomizer and use it on your v4L kr808 battery. With the 901 atomizer you would need a cartridge to hold the juice.. you could use the tea bag mod in that. there is a bunch of info in the new members forum you should check out... look for DonDaBoomVapes threads he is really informative and you will learn all kinds of stuff :)

Put simply: Carts are a pain in the ***, a lot of people don't like to use them. V4L sells cartomizers (and I would think they would sell plain old carts, but maybe not) and a cartomizer is basically a mouthpiece with an atomizer built in, so you put juice inside what would be the cartrige on another model, and you don't have to worry about constantly re-filling like you would with a 3-piece design. The 3-piece design (cart, atomizer, battery) really is an inconvenience to some. For instance... the carts that holds your juice and delivers it to the atomizer always needs to be topped off because they never use up all the juice that you put in there, so people are always looking for ways to "modify" them to make them use up nearly all the juice so they aren't wasting a bunch. With that said, there are a lot of cart mods out there that boost the juice absorbtion and make the whole experience with 3-pieces much more convenient.

Hey, if you're happy with your V4L (kr808 D-1) I say stick with it. I started with a 901 so I felt the need to look for a solution to the crappy battery life situation right away. Still love the 901 attys though. I only started using cartomizers a month and a half ago and I like them a lot. I use both the 510 and kr808 (same as what you use).
I started looking for a mod because I was draining batteries faster than I could charge them. I bought a crappy mod at first and that's how I got into making them so things seem to happen for a purpose I guess.
We all seem to have our own stories. I kinda like to experiment with this stuff.

I say if you are curious about the atty and cart option just order a 901 and check it out...

goodprophets carries them ... that what I did.. I wanted to try the 901 on my v4L batteries. you can try it with a cart or a drip tip and see if you like it..

just make sure if you try dripping that you use a manual battery as it can kill an auto battery. you may find you are totally happy with the ease of the cartomizers or you might find (like me) that you prefer the taste/experience of an atomizer.

Greetings Chopsuey!

Many people who started w/ carts (catridges) move on to cartos (cartomizers). I still drip at home, but used to use modded carts (Highping's mod) on the go. Now I'm hooked on cartos for on the go because as Xanax said, carts a real pita and cartos are just too convenient to ignore...they also give more consistency and better flavor imo.

If you have manual batteries, get a 901 atty (attomizer) and a drip tip and try dripping. Tho not convenient on the road, gives you the best flavor, hit, and vapor. Also recommend you stay with cartos...buy blanks and fill your own.

Glad to have you aboard!

The Vapor King model you have from V4L is the cartomizer-based KR808D-1 model (in which the cartridge and atomizer are integrated). Although it and other catomizer models are becoming increasingly popular, most e-cigs have been three-piece.

For a very long introduction to vaping and all its ins and outs, see the six-part WWV guide linked in my signature. Part 2 (also in the ECF Library) is especially applicable to this topic.

For a shorter commentary, you may want to read my "The Best E-cig Model for a First-time Vaper" in the Reviews section. It compares the two-piece Kr8 with the popular three-piece Joye 510 (and with the penstyle).

NOTE: If you are happy with your Vapor King and would rather not spend a lot of time studying, stick with it and just hang out in the Vapor4Life and KR808D-1 forums. Oh, and check out my review of CigEasy's Elegant (an eGO for the Kr8).
