I spent a part of today pining for an analog cigarette. I got out my supermini (which I hardly use any more since getting a Screwdriver) and some tobacco-flavored juice and went out on the porch for a few minutes like in the old days and the craving mostly went away.

I'm not sure how long it's been since my last cigarette. Couple weeks, anyway. I had to buy a couple of packs of cigarettes for the first couple weeks 'til I had enough supplies on hand not to need stopgaps, so I never started an official count or drew a hard line.

As of yet (over 2 weeks of e-smoking) I haven't been fully converted to e-smoking exclusively. But having gone from 20-36 a day to 1 or 2 from the get go is a tremendous result in its own right. There has been the odd lapse to analogue hell whilst out at night when either both batteries to my Super Mini ran dry or I didn't have enough carts. There's nothing worse than going to the ... machine in a bar and seeing nothing avaliable other than full strength Pall Mall. Yuck!!

There should be more than a yes/no choice. Many people have cut down considerably, but still smoke.

I smoked my last analogue last Saturday and it was the first in over a month. It didn't taste foul (I guess I'm better at pacing my nicotine intake now), nor was it anything special. But nothing beats the taste of the occasional drag from my hubby's Golden Virginia roll-ups (however they smoke too hot for my taste).

The real test, based on results from NRT, is not a day, not a week, not even three months off cigarettes. It starts to get serious at six months. Lots of people have returned to cigarettes by six months. And the failures have gone over a cliff at one year. The success rate, those who quit, is 5%. Ninety-five of every 100 who swore off cigarettes are back on them before the first anniversary. E-cigs' success can't be measured until at least a year of use without smoking.

I'm still guessing the quit rate with e-devices will be better than Big Pharma's 5% (maybe 10 to 25%). Then what?

But even this thread is disturbing, since e-cigs are never supposed to be called a quit-smoking device. That will red flag the FTC and perhaps the FDA. And that's when Big Trouble begins. The trouble, of course, will be a demand for scientific proof of efficacy. And e-smoking doesn't have it.

reality is reality bob.. i dont need a scientist neither does anyone else to know that e smoking is the best (only for me) way to kick the tobacco habit there is..

we have our own consensus opinion.. and the scientists have their consensus science..

there is no real proof to back up man made global warming but some scientists claim there is.. they claim what they get paid to claim.. what lines their pockets the most..

and we know what we need to know.. e smoking works.. f-ck the scientists.. they cant be trusted..

all said with the greatest of respect of course.. he he

i started smoking at 17 (stupidest thing i've done in my life) since then, i actually haven't gone one day without a smoke.. until I got the e cig. (i'm 23 now!)

I was worried that they just wouldnt be for me, but after a bit of time i got used to them, i still crave an analogue now and again, especially while driving or after a meal, but the big one for me is not really craving an analogue in the morning.. its strange, I normally get up and the first thing i've wanted is a ciggy, I'd smoke one in the house before leaving for work, and then 2 - 3 on the way to work (work is 15 mins drive from my house) but for the last few mornings, i've just got up, had a cup of coffee, into the car without anything, not even the e cig, i get into the office, put my stuff down and then go down and vape for five minutes.
I feel a bit different now, being a way from analogs for two days, i dont have as much of a cough in the mornings, i dont stink, no ones nagging me about smoking either!

I'm really chuffed to have found the e cig!

just my two cents..

I smoked for 40 years (yes, even while I was pregnant!) and have finally said good bye to tobacco. I putzed around with the e-cig a few months ago and got lazy about ordering carts or liquid so eventually went back to analogs.

Luckily I got bronchitis! I couldn't take the hacking anymore so figured I'd give the e-cigs another shot. I haven't had another analog cigarette since and have no cravings for one. Walking past someone who is smoking is a shock - OMG the smell!8-o

I helped take care of my Dad when he was dying from lung cancer - believe me I've tried everything to quit. Now that I've found my solution (yeah I know all about the nicotine dangers) I couldn't be happier knowing that in my opinion I am a non-smoker.:D:D
