I'm about four months into this and unfortunately I'm still fighting the battle to quit cigarettes.
ECF has really been a huge help to keep me trying. I found quickly the vaping while driving was much more convenient than smoking, no ashes blowing around etc... So, I've been keeping my cigarettes in my car. Not wanting to use them while driving and having to walk to get one has helped. I also only buy a pack at a time, I had bought cartons for years. If I have too many around at once, I'll smoke more of them. One thing I'm really noticing the effect cigarettes have on my lungs now. I hate it, but its also helping to reduce the urge. Smokers cough..... never had one before and I smoked a lot of cigarettes in a day.....

I stopped smoking Sep 2009 about 2 weeks after getting my first e-cig. Had 3 cigarettes Dec. 2010 (alcohol induced), quickly resumed vaping, then fell off the wagon and went back to smoking in Sep 2011 for about 2 months. Now back on e-cigs.

The three cigs one New Year was a brief lapse, no big deal, but I have wondered why I went back to smoking after almost 2 years of abstinence. I think I just forgot why I gave up smoking. Work was relentless, and I had a holiday approaching, just prior to and whilst on holiday I started buying cigarettes to relax, as a 'reward', and this habit stayed with me for the next couple of months until I realised what I was doing. The "why not, I deserve one" defence. One of my main reasons for stopping smoking (some sort of allergy - a skin reaction to something in cigarettes, akin to rosacea), a perceptible decrease in lung capacity and the thought of being susceptible to colds etc. made me seek out the e-cig once more. A new e-cig mod and new juice varieties encouraged me take it up again (a gadget fetish I suppose, but it helped).

the day my PV arrived. I guess it took less than 1 minute - which is still a wow thing for me. I've never looked back and havent craved one cig. SO COOL to see such awesome results here. Really frustrating that gov't thinks these are not quit smoking devices....this just makes me mad/laugh at same time. So many of us walking proof. Congrats to all of us.

I put within a year, as it was the highest option. It was actually about two years for me. I started with a crappy cigarette style proprietary PV. It got me into vaping and I still smoked while using it, though cutting down of smoking. Then got frustrated with the short battery life, weak vapor, etc. and gave up on vaping. A year later I got a Silver Bullet and quit smoking for a couple weeks but got frustrated with filling carts, poor feeding/wicking, small cart capacity, etc. and went back to smoking.

This time I started again with tank carts and cut back heavily on smoking. From PAD to pack a week. Got frustrated with tank carts not feeding/wicking well, but this time when I came back to ECF for a solution I found something that wasn't available previously... Carto tanks. Once I got my carto tank I immediately quick smoking and didn't have any desire for another. For me it was just a matter of finding the right setup that made vaping easy and every puff consistent.

So from being introduced to vaping with no real intention of quitting smoking, two years until I quit. From starting vaping (again) but with a real desire to quit smoking, two weeks and in that time frame it was an immediate drop from pack a day to pack a week.

Technically, I vaped for about two months before making the switch from analogs fully. I was using a Super rn4081 off and on for less than a ml a day, but not completely enjoying it. I did see the potential, though, and after upgrading to better gear I made the switch fairly quickly, within a few days. Part of what made it so fast was that it was wicked cold at the time and I was taking advantage of my ability to vape in the house (I didn't smoke inside), so I had added incentive to give vaping a serious go ;-)
