If I remember correctly, unlike water, PG and VG contract when cooled to freezer temperatures.

I store my nic (I have PG base and VG base, all 100mg/mL) in amber glass boston round bottles with phenolic poly cone caps. I've got approximately 3 liters, some of which has been in there for over two years. It's no worse for the wear. Leaving very little head space will prevent oxidation.

Water is unique in its tendency to expand when cooled. Everything else in the world contracts. Whether something "freezes" (transitions from a liquid to a solid state) does not matter. Lots of things freeze when cooled. None of them expand when frozen, except water.

Some of my PG and VG NIC is almost 4 years old. There in glass bottles filled to a 1/4 inch from the top and stored in the freezer. No issues at all with them. I even keep my working bottle in the freezer between mixing sessions. I also premix my base 500mls at time and keep that in the refrigerator and it stays nice and fresh for months and months.

@dannyv45 I would love to premix my base but being a noob, I did a search here on how to do it and, needless to say, it confused the :censored: out of me! I can't comprehend the calculations and/or how I'd go about adding it all into the calculator  I want to premix my base with 100mg Nic (VG) to come out to 9mg nic 70/30 (vg/pg) :?: Please help, anyone?

I've done the same thing. My oldest nic is August 2013 and I'm still working through it. Every bottle that comes out of the freezer is perfect. I've been off the boards for a while but I've said this in the past. I believe the freezer life of nic could easily exceed a decade. It may lose a little strength but who cares. An easy test of strength and then adjust your recipe. It seems quite possible that nic will never "spoil". I store mine like countless others. 120ml glass with polyseal caps and little airspace. I vacuum seal my bottles too but that is probably overkill.

Even when I leave my working bottle from 2013 out for months in my mix case it still barely turns yellow. I actually kinda like the extra flavor it provides. But I'm a tobacco flavor only vaper so that extra flavor enhances things.

If you premix 100ml the math is simple

9ml nicotine (100mg/ml VG)
21ml VG
70ml PG

Of course if you add any flavor to that base the nicotine level will decrease and the PG/VG ratio will change.

Have you tried using the ejuicemeup calculator?

@Rickb119 Yes that's the one I've been playing around with and plan on using. I like your simple math! lol Now, I do plan on adding flavor. How would I put that all into the calc? say I'm using 20% in flavor? Thank you so much for your help

Can I do that without changing the nic/vg/pg ratio's?

Will it be better and/or easier for me to just mix per bottle until I'm a seasoned self-proclaimed mixologist?:thumbs:

Yes!

I do all of my mixes "per bottle".

Also, I just realized that you want 70 VG and 30 PG. I'm so used to thinking of the first number being PG that I skipped right over the (vg/pg) sorry.

That being said, the "correct" calculations for your premix would be

9ml 100mg VG nic
69ml VG
30ml PG

If you're going to add 20% flavoring, deduct that amount from the PG (since most flavoring is PG based) and it would look like this

9ml 100mg VG nic
69ml VG
10ml PG
20ml Flavoring

For smaller bottles, multiply the above by .5 for a 50ml, .3 for a 30ml and .1 for a 10ml.

A good calculator is so much easier (once you figure out how to the the *@#** thing!

Most people break down large bottles of Nic into smaller, more manageable bottles, both PG and VG based Nic. Pop it into the freezer for years with no side effects. None of it will freeze!

This is a Good Point.

If you put a Full Liter of Nicotine Base into the Freezer, then when it comes time to Draw Off 100ml or so, you are going to have to let the Entire Bottle come back up to Room Temperature, Shake it, and then Pour Out 100ml. Then put the Liter Bottle back into the Freezer.

You will end up doing this 10 Times to reach the End of the Nicotine Base.

Whereas if you fill Ten 125ml Bottles with 100nl of Nicotine Base, you can just pull a Bottle out of the Freezer when Needed. And the Other Bottles can Enjoy an Uninterrupted Arctic Slumber nestled amongst the Frozen Peas and Microwave Pizzas.
