not trying to be discouraging , but you will likely have cig cravings for a very, very long time.

The craving is a mental(oral fixation, and the relaxation obtained from smoking), and physical(the actual process of smoking) addiction as much as it is a chemical one(the nicotine).

when i first quit analogs and began e cigs i had cravings for months. they settled down to maybe one or two a week after that but i still get them even today...years later.

I once quit for 5 years - unbelievably, I started again but that's another story. Anyway - I felt strong cravings for the first year or so - and only after about 3 years did they become so rare I felt like a true non-smoker. I'm gearing up to quit (totally) again but vaping in the meantime. Not trying to be discouraging - the cravings will eventually go away. Eventually being the key word, lol. I still get cravings even though I'm vaping, too.

I have just quit menthol cigarettes and I am quite happy with vaping e-liquid with 0mg nicotine. When I do get a craving to light up a cigarette, I grab some 16mg to 24mg nicotine e-liquid and struggle through the throat hit until I feel calmer, even though my throat ends up being raw afterwards. I've recently switched to vaping a menthol tobacco e-liquid with an 8mg nicotine hit in the morning to see if it helps to kill the out of the blue cravings.

I am not so nazi as all of you. If I crave a cigarette, I light one. Then pretty much just put it out because it is N A S T Y! That takes care of the cravings for a long, long time. I see absolutely no need to be stoic when the cigarette itself does such a good job of turning the cravings off by its inherent nastiness.

With me, I quit totally after 3 days on eCigs. But, 5 months in, I felt a craving that I couldn't shake. I chain vaped literally for 5 hours straight. I went thru maybe 4 ml of juice in that time. It finally went away & I never had another craving. I'm 16 months smokefree! I was lucky on that craving that my wife went out taking our only car, it was cold & the nearest store is 1 1/2 miles away. Otherwise I may have given in to it.

My advise is to vape the craving away & to think about something ease while doing it. Good luck & keep on vapin'.

I think cravings can suddenly happen when we are feeling relaxed too. Or quite happy. I had a craving on Christmas day - just out of the blue like yours. I switched pvs to an old cig size one I had with me - the carto is about 8 months old and stronger nic than I usually vape. Also a straight tobacco flavor. It worked. I have always vaped my way through any craving - they don't last long and I am not going to light up a cig again. I don't have any anyway - I smoked the last one nearly 9 months ago.

I get them from habitual situations -wake up pour some coffee look for my pack of smokes... Eat a fat burger, sit back relax look for my smokes. never for the actual cig itself, just a well worn ritual of doing something that usually had a cig involved.
i just vape up some 24mg, get a nic buzz and forget why i wanted one lol.................

I see no reason for not having an occasional cigarette when you get a strong craving. It doesn't mean you failed at quitting assuming you go back to vaping. Upping your nic level at these times may help. I've been lucky. I still have a couple cigarettes around just in case but after 1 1/2 yrs I've never had a craving for a real cig.

Glad to hear similar stories. I vaped through it and was gone after about 15-20 minutes. It was just strange because I haven't had a craving like that since I quit over 3 months ago. Just hit me out of no where. I figured if I was going to have any craving it would have happened sooner. Thanks for your support guys!
