When I vape in public I'm pretty discreet. Haven't had anyone even notice I was doing it. I have had people I know ask after they've seen me vape and I just explain to them what it is. The response I've gotten so far has been positive. I have heard stories here of police involvement. The reactions have been everything from one wanting to know where to get one for himself to confiscation. If you were to have the police ask, it would depend entirely on the individual police officer, they're just as varied as we are.

I don't worry about the police, like I said above, I'm very discreet in public.

As far as the cops, we have had very mixed reviews on that one. One guy had his stuff confiscated to be tested for drugs....
A bit like our local deputy sheriff who confiscated a tomato plant cuz it was "marihuana." :) But I do know cops who vape out here in the Pacific NW.

I've gotten a few glances here and there when using regular ecigs, but nothing bad.

However, I did get a "What the :censored: is that thing???" this morning while using my latest mod on the way to work.

The look on the guy's face made me chuckle.

I was pulled over a few months ago for running a red light (complete BS by-the-way, that light was totally yellow) and the cop seen my Tornado sitting on my console and asked me what it was. I wanted to tell him it was an A.H. detector and must be broke, but jail doesn’t appeal to me so I just told him it was a nicotine inhaler. He said “Oh, you trying to quit smoking?” I said yes and that was it. Well, then I got a ticket that cost me a couple hundred bucks @#%$, but nothing more about my e-cig.

I have only had one bad experience and that was at a bar just after they smoking ban came into effect. The owner is a friend and I was playing in the band but in between sets. I tried to explain to the cop, he got rude I got obnoxious and it almost got out of hand. The owner came over and tried to help out, the cops left. The local cops are cool here so that isn't the problem. I don't know maybe they need some training.

I have been vaping for a year now and have vaped on trains, buses, in restaurants, hospitals, and banks.

I have, so far gotten only positive experiences except when I took my mom to the DMV to take her driving test. We were sitting in the building where she had just returned from her exam, waiting for her photo I.D. and an employee came up to me and started saying in a very loud voice "There is no smoking in here!" I held up my Janty Stick and said Madam, this is not a conventional cigarette, this is an electronic cigarette and before I could say more she stormed away. A few minutes later she returned with a woman who said she was a supervisor and told me there was no smoking period in a Government facility. I really did not feel like arguing and just put it away. But before I left, as I opened the door I took a nice big vape and blew a nice big cloud of vapor in her direction and smiled.

Otherwise, I have only had people come up to me to find out more about my e-cig and where they could get one!

Try thinking of cops like your family, and throw in YOUR job. Leo's usually see all the bad things people do. With your family you have scary, drunk, tweeker, smells funny, always late, broke, on the go, paranoid, fat, thin, oh ya .......and really ...... off. When I go to work ...... I load the truck by throwing everything, thats why your new microwave didnt work. When cops go to work ...... , YOU are their job. The Leo's that I know have found that alot of people do drugs or drink, and most people think their car is like their house. It's not. Everyone in prison thinks thinks innocent. What will cause big problems for eigs in my opinion is big headlines around someone vaping with thc. We have all seen the posts, some make jokes others word it different. Yes I did inhale in high school, then I grew up. So ya you will get strange looks from someone if they see you puffing on what looks like a crack pipe. Its about context and perspective.

I think it would be a good idea for each of us to call our local law enforcement offices and volunteer to do a small presentation of the E-cig maybe whip up a little presentation with pics of various mods and so forth.

this would be especially good for local suppliers. They might even get a few sales.

This is a great Idea!!!:2cool:
