I got the name "Streamline" from the brand on the brass plug. Thought it was a nice touch!

I noticed a lot of really decent copper mods out there and decided to give it a try myself (I've been waiting forever for my Precise 16--5 weeks or so now) I picked the parts up from Home Depot. Still waiting on the 18650 battery and 510 connector, and then it should be good to go. I went with brass plugs on the ends instead of the copper caps. They give it a good look and the plug works well as a button. The button action feels perfect.

Pipe Cutter
18650 Battery
510 Connector
3/4" Copper Tube
3/4" Copper Coupling (x2)
3/4" Brass Plug (x2)
Compression Springs (hardware isle, I think)
Heatshrink Tubing (the big ones, but not the thick walled ones)

Credit goes to Gitmoe for the spring compression contact method.

I got to say that i like it despite the fact that i am not a fan of copper which is why i went through all the trouble of making pv out of aluminium pipe, rod etc. Those 'streamline' brass plugs and that compressed spring in the middle make it look more a steampunk pv than just another boring copper mod and i think thats the reason why i like it. Good Job!

Cool Jive. Watch out, you may end up liking your own copper better than that Precise you bought...

Regarding brass juice tanks, I think I read somewhere in the form that bass as the well is not good. I am sure if you plug the right search terms in you can find it.

Yeah, I ended up using brass with an acrylic sleeve inside of it. I'll post some pics soon.

Wow! very nice work indeed, nice to see something that does not resemble a bomb, lol. So the plugs are pressed in and can be removed? Also, how do you activate the switch?

Thanks for the help!

Neon

One of the plugs is actually the switch. It's all mechanical in that the plug will house the atty connector and a copper post soldered inside the connector that will make contact with the battery when pressed down.

And what will keep the top plug from falling out?

It's held in by the spring itself, and considering the spring is pretty heavy duty, it feels extremely solid. I'll post a video when I get a chance. The spring is stretched to fit very tightly inside of the plug, and also inside of the coupling, so it holds quite well and is easily twisted out or back in for battery replacement.

Sounds interesting, as long as the spring isn't wearing through the cells protective jacket.

Yeah, the battery will be surrounded by the heatshrink tubing and the spring will actually be above the battery so it will never touch it. If you look at the pic I posted showing the inside of the copper, the spring actually fits perfectly to the I.D. of the coupling and compresses on the lip of the 3/4" copper pipe. The battery will go below this area.

Something I did was look in the plumbing section and buy a brass fitting that has some really nice holes machined into it. I got some vinyl tubing and fit it into the brass fitting so that the juice will actually never touch the brass but still have that great look. Plus the machined ports showing the clear vinyl behind it gives it a great look and allows you to see your juice levels. I'm still working on getting a CE2 to seal into the base of the fitting. It's a close fit but I can't find a seal that fits it just right. I'll have to shop around a little more. I'll post pics of the work-in-progress when I get home in the morning.

Absolutely! I actually got the idea from your thread and need to add credit to the original post. Thanks for the great idea. Someone mentioned the brass being heavy, and after getting everything together it certainly does weigh quite a bit. I imagine I'll mainly be using this thing at home, but working nights, I'll probably bring it with me anyway. It looks like a detonator, but working security, I doubt anyone will tell me anything! lol

I don't find mine to be overly heavy. Its not super light by any means but I had it out at the bar a few times this past week and never really thought to myself, "man, this copper mod is weighing me down...". For the price you really can't complain to end up with a nice functioning 3.7/6v mod that will run for 2-3 days on a single charge...
