not everyone can simply change over from ciggies to vaping instantly.... I went 6 months as a dual user and I still have my morning ciggie with my coffie.... go ahead and have the ciggie when you feel the need to... smoke about 1/2 to 1/3rd and finish off with the vape till you are satisfied... eventually you will find the taste of ciggies to become nasty and unpleasant...

If you Want to Quit Smoking, Really Want to Quit Smoking, sometimes you just have to Grit your Teeth and say... "No. Not Today. I'm Not Going to Smoke a Cigarette Today."

Increase you Nicotine Level

I'd echo this. Increase the nic. Lots of people start out way too low.

We've all had different experiences and approaches. I have been a vaper for 5 years, I smoked Analogues and vaped, back and forth. The turning point was the right setup for me, however, I tried to be analytical in my permanent transition.

I counted the average puffs it would take to clear an analogue. Turned out to be between 10-12. I also considered where I smoked and why/how.
Mouth to Lung is a great start and helps the transition, treating it more like an analogue at first, using it in place of areas you smoked.
Ideally what I did is reprogram myself to accept PV's as the alternative by treating it just as I did analogues.
Minimal "panic" as I knew I still had a backup of Analogues if I felt things were going wrong. And eventually I dropped that security blanket and
fully transitioned to full time vaping.

What do you smoke, Steve? If it's prefab (factory-made) cigs, switching to rolling first might help to make it easier to stop and to switch to vape.

I stopped smoking only 3 weeks ago, on the 14th Oct. at half past two, sharp-ish. I never vaped before that, haven't even tried it. The reason for ditching tobacco was that i ran out of money, simple as that (the perks of self-employment... ;) )
I was smoking for almost 30 years (minus the 4 years when i stopped for pregnancies, twice for 2 years / each) - roughly 20 per day in the past 10 or so years, a bit less before that.

I changed from prefabs (long Marlboro Lights) to roll-ups in 2012 and i found that change was a lot more difficult than changing from roll-ups to vaping - you can imagine i panicked my head off in advance, only to find out within an hour or so that i actually prefer vaping. Still surprised about that.

I think a lot of it is a mental block - at least for me it was definitely the case, in retrospect.

(This is my very first post here, so a belated hello to all - i like this place, most helpful. Still figuring things out but i'll make a question-filled thread very soon...)

I have a friend that smokes analogs. When she lights up I get big time cravings too. I bummed one from her and couldn't believe how nasty it tasted compared to what I was vaping. Try to find a juice you Love!
Not sure what to tell you except maybe avoid all smokers for a little while till you are firmly committed to vaping.
Or spend all your extra money on e-juice, hahaha!

Hi everyone just wondering if anyone has had a hard time transitioning to vaping.
Personally am finding it extremely difficult. I have a good setup a liquid that I enjoy but seems to be more the mental factor. Ryt now am on a house were everyone else smokes and for some reason unknown to myself a get kind of panicy wen it comes to putting down the analogue and starting to vape only. Any advice from others that have been in this situation is greatly appreciated.
:) thanks.
WTA and natural tobacco extracts will help. I am now starting to vape unflavored and lightly flavored juices after a year. No cigs :) good luck!

My dear friend. I dont suppose you were addicted to cigarettes as much as I do. 40 years hand rolling plus many years some ready ones. I also had been chain smoking. My collagues called me mr. tobacco+tea+pc. (They will get me out of the forum for my endlessly telling these)
In the first place I loved smoking did not intend to quit anytime.
On the other hand I had difficulties simply for walking a decent road. I had to have breathing breaks every 200 meters. Still loving the cigarettes I had to find a solution.
I thought if e-cigs are helpfull I could use them. After of course my morning tea+cigarette ceremonies. Perhaps using half day e-cigs (If they are efficient I thought) I would cut my cigarette intake half.
My tobacco vendor told me that he had been selling e-cigs. Offered me a simple one about $30. He also offered me a try for my nic rate. With my first inhale I thought now that this is as efficient as this why should I smoke. The trick was it was the right liquid for me. Mind you all the set and liquid were poor clones, not genuine. The liquid had a banner joytech parliament. Well I dont think Joytech should use a brand name without permission. But again it worked for the purpose. I had rolled 7 cigarettes for the trip and went back home still carrying them. I would still keep them had it not been I was cheated by another vendor with a liquid which in fact had no nic in and god knows what. The 7 cigarettes went during the time I could find a genuine liquid.
In a very short time I began to walk properly (Now can climb hills :) )
Same effect with fairly less harm what should a smoke lover want more.
We are not addicted to cigarettes. We are addicted to nicotine. And some gestures thanks to hollywood.
The ones dragging you to smoking will not give you a hand when you climb a hill (They cant :) ) So leave aside the effect and go ahead with e-cig + cigarettes for a while. If you have a genuine satisfying liquid you will not be able to smoke one even if you want to. (How I ever smoked this s...t says the famous geek between quitters. :) )
Dont count how many you smoked. The important number is how many you dont.

I totally get the panic, and really encourage you to keep using this forum - it's full of fab advice and coping mechanisms. Even just reading posts and vaping whenever a craving comes can help. I vaped and smoked for six months - it helped me sort out the gear, my taste in liquids etc and get over the 'panic' feeling of giving up. I am now on day 18. To be honest during that time have relapsed and smoked 6 cigarettes over 4 nights - each time after wine and dinner. But I still feel like I quit. Having smoked 20-30 cigs a day for 28 years the fact that don't feel that I need them now is amazing. So 18 days is at least 360 cigs not smoked vs the 6 I did. In a strange sort of way those relapse made me feel even more of a non-smoker because I didnt even want another one. I combine with some nicorette microtabs and quickmist for the quick hit when I can't vape (it's semi-illegal here) or need a quick hit (24/36mg is not available where I live). Even so, I def feel like I turned a corner. I actually had to look up how long it had been, whereas the first 4 days I could tell down to the hour. Just hang in there (and make sure you "sniff" your smoker friends to remind you how you do not want to smell again!)

OP - also it could help if you think through what aspects of smoking you enjoy most, aside from the nicotine intake. (I mean the nicotine alone you can get from those vile nicorette patches, still they don't work for a reason..)
The taste, the inhale/exhale, the throat hit, the hand-to-mouth action - well all of those you get by vaping too (along with the nic of course) all the same, you can fine-tune it the exact way you like it.
Or the 'situational' side - morning coffee, drinking, work, concentration, socialising, whatever - you know best yourself. (myself, I'm pretty asocial - bordering on being an antisocial pri•k -, but from your post it appears you're more on the social side. Which might be an advantage, as people usually bond over gadgetry (i know i do), esp. if it's something tinkerable. Even your housemates might get into it.

If you found a liquid you really like the taste of, that's half the battle won already.
(I was lucky to find early on a really good (and quite cheap!) air-cured 'natural' tobacco taste, can't keep my hands off of that (i don't like "too much" flavour in a vape, but more of a well-built one. This one has some slight, warm pine-resin-y, hay & moss-like notes and none of the 'artificial tobacco' gimmickry - totally addictive IMO.)

Where does one get Wta? Any especially good on line vendors? I just started looking into it last night.
Thanks!

I recommend Wholecig -- cheaper than aroma, but just as good, just as pure, just as effective. However, I also recommend that you wait a while before deciding if you really need it -- so soon after stopping cigarettes, you won't notice a lot of difference with WTA; you need to let your body get used to just nicotine, to know if you need more than nicotine. I'd say at least a week; those cravings for me came back when I'd been smoke-free for 10 days, so it was good that I had some on-hand, but the first time I quit with vapibg, I didn't need the WTA at all.

Chase clouds brother! Find a local vape shop and tell them you want to blow fat clouds! It will be satisfying to see how much vapor you produce and you will not want to smoke another stoge ever again. Find a cheap RDA and have them build a coil for you (usually the first build is free when you buy the RDA) The coil will last for a month and all you have to do is change the cotton out every week or so. Only draw back is that you will have to keep dripping but the flavor and huge plumes will be worth it!

I've just started trying WTA extracts from NUde Nicotine, you have to get a PG/VG Nic base to add the WTA to. I've Vaped tobaccos from naturally-extracted-tobacco.com for a long time

To everyone that's posted on this thread thank you so much for the support and the advice it has really helped. I have cut right back on the analogues yet still smoking but nothing near to what I was. It's only been a few days but I am feeling more confident in my self to carry on and stick to this and make a good change in my life thank you all again.:)
