Ill admit, Im a bit concerned about sub-ohm setups for a bunch of different reasons. But I wont get into that for now.

I just want to know...does a single 18650 get you through an entire day? I remember voltage drop-off being noticeable in the course of the day using 1.5ohm, and I can imagine a sub-ohm setup would be much more noticeable.

It depends on the vaping habits that day. Mostly 1-1.5 a day on average.

Honestly, the AW 1600mAh lasts me about the same amount of time as an Efest 2000mAh did in my old regulated device.

The difference is with sub-ohm, I may be drawing more current, but I'm holding down the firing button way less. 2-3 second quick draws.

With a regulated device, running higher resistance stuff, I was "puffing" on it, easily resulting in holding the button down for up to 10 seconds.

Dont own a reo, but my .7 build doesnt drain batteries that fast at all IMO. Left my house at 9pm vaped pretty dang heavy until 2am and when I got back my battery was still at 4v. my zmax with a 2.5ohm coil runs through batteries faster then that.

I use panasonic ncr18650pd and sony vtc4 30amps

Im not a battery expert but whenI use high ohm stuff im holding my button down for a awhile it seems to get the vape i want. with the mech at .7 its just a quick press, much shorter then a 1ohm coil or hits off my regulated devices. might be why the battery seems to last longer for me?

I vape at .8 ohms, occasionally at .6, using a AW 18650 1600 mah, I can mostly go from morning till night without a battery change.
but, I never do that, at midday I always change out the battery.

couple reasons. fresh battery works better. and draining the battery all the way takes so long to fully charge again.

I do notice at .6 the battery drain faster than at .8. also since I started using the auto fuse instead of the stock spring my battery life has improved too.

I was going to make a new thread, but seen this one so I thought I would try here first.

I am NOT a sub ohm'er. I am in need of some new batteries and went looking around and all I really did was confuse myself. I am currently using and always have used IMR 18650 2000mAh batteries. But was thinking of trying something different this time around. I was thinking of either the IMR 18650 1600mAh (I think I read where the battery life was just as good as the 2000mAh) in case the day ever comes where I decide to sub ohm or the Sony 18650 2600mAh, but I cant find much info out on the Sony.

Anyone have anything to say about either of these or what you might recommend?
Thanks,
Tommy

I run about .6 with a dual coil in a RM2 and I can get an entire day out of a 18650. However I usually only vape on the way to work, 2 breaks and a 30 mins lunch then on the way home and the vaping at home part. Then before bed I will put the battery on a charger and wake up and start over again. Now when I work from home and I vape more regularly I can not make a whole day just usually about 5pm. Now I sub ohm because I like a warm vape and some prefer a cooler vape, but I like the burn!

The new Sony VTC5s give me almost 24 hours on a 0.95 ohm coil. Mind you this is not my only set up in rotation but I really like these batteries.

Thanks taki1203, those are the ones I am leaning towards. I have about 5 different devices in rotation and I get about 1 to 1.5 days out of a 2000mAh so I am thinking this will be what I want. Plus I vape at 1.2Ω to 1.5Ω.

I was just worried about the 30amp and not doing sub ohm. Local store who usually has decent advice/service said I would be better with regular batteries since I dont sub ohm. Seems like from reading here, that might not be the case.

without a doubt the 1600s will hit harder and last longer. The mah rating is how long the battery last above about 2.5v has nothing to do with how long it holds a high voltage. checkout the test curve below. I like to use button top batteries but do have some of the Sony VT5s on order to try.

I think it depends on your personal vaping style. I sub on all my mechs (0.95 to 0.34) so for me the 30 amp rating was what sold me. Plus Sony batteries have a sold reputation out here in Cali. The 2100mah VTC4s have been good for me so jumping to the higher capacity 2500mah VTC5s was easy. If you're budget minded, don't need the amp rating and can get cheaper batteries by all means go with them.

Thanks for the information. I just done a bunch of looking into the Sony's and see they are flat top. I want button tops. I seen a lot of people using flat tops with no issues, but I like sticking to what the manufacture recommends for the said device.

Can't use AW 1600's because of the 23A draw limit. My set-up puts me around 21A.

I use Sony VTC4's. My pulls are about 1/2 a second, maybe a little less, maybe a little more. My batteries need to be replaced after about 45 minutes of chain-vaping, which usually spans the course of 4 or 5 hours.

Hope this helps.

It's not a fair comparison to say number of hours or how much of the day, since I run a few Reos at various resistances throughout the day. I'll explain in "number of ml before battery swap".

On average, a 1.5+ohm coil gets through about 5ml (pretty much a whole bottle) on one 18650 AW 1600mah.

1.0-1.2ohm gets through about 3-4ml on same battery.

0.7/0.8 ohm gets through about 3ml or less.

I generally pull batteries when the vapor production drops noticeably for me. That could mean anywhere from 3.5 to 3.8v, depending on my mood, or if I'm not paying much attention, lol. It's user dependent, I think. I probably pull my batteries sooner (at ~3.7/3.8 or so) when I'm sub-ohming, just because I'm paying a little more attention to safety and taking more care not to have an "oopsy".

I see those vtc5s are very hard to find right now. I won't buy batteries from Ebay but I would like your impressions when you do get them in. Do you know of any source to get them now?
