I have a couple problems with my Subtank Nano.

1. I have the Subtank Nano and the Atlantis. I've noticed that neither really produces great flavor, but while the Atlantis produces a few notes of what the juice intends, the Subtank really causes my juices to only taste like the sweetest, doughiest, or artificial aspects of the juice.

Coffees (even the best) will taste like dough. Custards will taste like sugar water. Peanut Butters will taste like Sweet-n-Low. My Subtank is literally not bringing out any of those crispy, strong flavors that small-time tanks bring out so well... and I am using Drip Lines.

Why could this be? I'm testing a vertical cotton Atlantis coil and a vertical cotton Subtank coil, and the Atlantis coil is distinctly producing at least a small layer of those intended "stark" notes.

2. Spitting. The new vertical OCC's are even worse. They send spittles of juice up into the mouth with every puff, and because I lung inhale, my tonsils are currently swollen right were this nicotine juice has been hitting my throat, sort of behind and unde the left side of my tongue. This is direct ingestion of nicotine juice, probably a half or 1/4th's drop's worth with every puff. But why does this happen? The Atlantis coils do it too, but slightly less severe.

3. With the original OCC's, I often got a HORRIBLE burnt rubber taste at anything over 20-25w depending on the coil, a taste like sheer burning plastic (not at all burning cotton) and yet with the vertical OCC's, I haven't tasted this even once, despite being made of seemingly the same materials. In fact, pushing them to 35-40w's, the ingedients of the juice seem to burn more than the cotton or anything else does. I used a spare original OCC coil last night and almost barfed at the difference!

4. Even on the vertical Kanger OCC's, just as the original's, when I first start my coil, there's plumes of vapor, no spitting. Some puffs later, the volume is reduced by half (same settings) and the spitting starts. On the original OCC's this exact point is also where I'd start tasting a huge cloud of burnt plastic. Could I have some connection problems going on? Using a KBOX.

Thank You!

It's possible that it isnt the tank, but maybe a case of vapors tongue?. I have not tried the new VOCC's, only the rebuildable sections. It can also be the juice as its made for dripping, tanks just cant bring out the flavor and dripping liquids are useally high vg.. which these tanks seem to have a problem wicking. Need some more information. Can tell you the horrible burnt taste is a dry hit from lack of wicking, also try a new drip tip as that may help with spitting and possibly flavor. Your tonsils being swollen may have an effect on taste as well. Smaller tanks have smaller chambers so they concentrate the flavor more.

A few little tricks might help with the tanks you have now. First, try blowing in a little puff before the inhale, much like you do with any rda. This should clear the chimney of juice to lessen spit back. Try turning the drip tip to aim at the inside of your cheek. A burnt cheek is loads better than a burnt throat. Lastly, could it be you're drawing too hard when taking a hit? Tanks need time to wick so if you slow your draw a little, the juice will have time to flow up. Good luck and I hope this will help.

I'm not sure what "max" VG actually is but I notice the same spitting between a liquid of mine that is 50/50 and one that is 15/85 PG/VG, they both spit terribly in the Subtank. I've heard that there is a screen that can be placed inside the drip tip that should stop most of the spitting. But in general now I just carry some qtips around with me, keep some in the car, some in my desk etc. Anytime that my SubTank starts to spit I just clear out the driptip with the qtip and as well push the qtip down into the chimney a little bit and twirl around. Usually it gathers up a wet qtip head. I'm not sure if it's this extra liquid that's made it's way into the drip tip that is spitting or if that is what's there after it's spit, but clearing it out usually stops the major spitting for a little while longer before it has to be done again.

I must say that I've never had any drip spit that reaches the back of my throat, it always hits my tongue, maybe you're pulling too hard or fast or I'm not pulling hard enough or fast enough.

I'll be honest, (ego be damned) I've never been able to use any tank higher than 24 watts and that's only if I take short 2.5 second puffs, anything more than that and it's nasty tasting, doesn't matter what liquid I put in it, whether it's an OCC head or one of my own rebuildables, it just never works for me so I just stick around 15w as that produces tons of vapor and decent flavor.
