Whoops! I didn't realize there was a contest to get a certain post count.

The PIF thread is a contest, not this one. I forgot the post number 13??. Jules has it posted in the contest thread. Plus we get to talk OT in Jules' sub-forum and she doesn't get all uptight. LOL That's how we've been able to get to know each other so well and become friends! :)

Occasionally in the PIF thread two people post at the same time, or an acceptance/offer gets overlooked and there is confusion about who got what and what the current offer actually is. Then there is a page or three of people posting - also at the same time - trying to sort it out. It usually ends up even more confused at the end.

I suggest that in the event of any confusion, somebody post "Time out!", and the parties involved take it to the chatbox to sort it out in real time. Once everything is sorted, one person can go back to the thread and post the decided-upon current offer. It would keep the thread cleaner, and it would keep other (well-intentioned) users from posting and muddling things further.

Thoughts?

Here's the problem with that IMHO...When 2 people post accepting the same offer, the 2nd poster almost always corrects the thread by editing their post or posting a "nevermind." No problem. The few times when that doesn't happen, it's because they've left their computer or they are new to PIF and don't realize what has happened. SO, it seems to me that in those circumstances, the chatbox wouldn't work (one of the parties isn't looking at the computer or doesn't know what's happened). I say we accept that, occasionally, it will take a page or 2 to fix up---and be grateful for all the times when the posters take care of it quickly with no confusion.

Well I think that instead of the whole chatbox thing, maybe just having it to where people can't "ill take it, hold on" and then go back and edit their answer. Maybe something like if you accept it, you have to be able to put up your offer right away??? I dunno..

And what do people like me who can't move around freely do? Just stay out of the PIF thread because we can't get to our stuff right that second? I know there are several mobility disabled people on here and that is not fair to them.

11. Not everyone can easily get to their stash to see what they have to offer up. In this case you must post "I'll take that offer and give me a minute to put my offer up" When you edit your post to add your offer, leave the whole thing intact. Do not take the part about "give me a minute to make my offer" out of your post. It will save any possible confusion down the road.
