Suggestions for a "best flavor" single coil tank? (I think?)

Here is what I think I am looking for:
  • MUST be rebuildable. I am a cheap bugger; and I am not willing to shell out $3.00+ for factory coil heads.
  • Single coil only/priority. I have several different tanks that offer "dual/single coil compatibility" but they all pale in single coil mode. (This includes the original GeekVape Avocado in single coil mode)
  • Adjustable airflow control. During my journey of DIY, I have learned that different recipes benefit from different airflow, as well as different power settings.
  • Build deck accessibility. Lower priority; but always "easier" is better than "harder."
  1. Amen! One would think not spending $200 a month on cigs would mean money to burn. Noper.
  2. 1 coil is plenty to fiddle with!!
  3. For me, power for sure. Airflow, not so much - seems more a way to dial-in your style.
  4. The only way I ever learned a lesson was the hard way. I'll take my decks easy, pleasy!
I don't think I care about:
  • DTL vs. MTL. My sole interest is getting the optimal flavor out of any given e-liquid.
  • Juice flow control. Other than slowing/stopping flooding during filling; I have never found this a needed/beneficial feature.
  • Appearance. I am not interested in "style." I am willing to put the "ugliest thing on the block" on my mod... if it will give me the best flavor.
  • Capacity. I am not worried if it holds 2mL, or 6mL, as long as it give me the best flavor. (Yes; dripping is still out!!)
  1. Ah, but to achieve that goal IMO, one must pursue the tootle art.
  2. An over-engineered, pain-in-the-tucas waste of space and weight.
  3. "Your momma is so ugly"...........
  4. Guess it depends on the mission. 2ml for a night out? No thanks.
  • Simple single wire coils of 26 gauge or smaller
  • Above 1 ohm builds
  • Airflow coming from below coil with a 2 mm max path from AFC ring to inlet below coil
  • Small/tight deck
  • Tight chimney (short or long can come into play)
  • Produces excellent flavor

Almost my gospel. Except the tight deck.

Like many of us, I too find it hard not to chase the 'next great thing'
Whatever the case, it blows away the days of cartos.
But sadly, most of my gear gets little use.
95% of the time, I've got one of my 2+ year old Erlkonigins under my nose.
Would recommend it, but they are all but impossible to find these days.
21 mm wide, 67 mm tall with driptip, 6-8 ml capacity, and a svelte 32 grams.
Maybe it's like Toolman and his Kayfun's, everything gets compared to your first love!

On my list going foward:
OBS Engine Nano - have to love the 'leak-proof', capacity and the raving of the community
Berzerker - not sure about this one yet.
And of course, the upcoming Inokinn Ares.

Lot's of good recs on this thread.
And did I hear you say "spreadsheet" Me does know dems!
Keep us updated on your journey!
