I fully support not selling ecig product to minors, but the reasoning by the "leaders" of Sunrise, FL shows they are ill informed and have been swayed by the headlines. Leaders need to set an example and actually learn before taking action. That involves reading past the headlines and doing some research before opening their mouths.

"There is no oversight; there is no regulation," Mayor Mike Ryan said. "These can be sold to children. There is no law prohibiting them from buying it and, as a result, almost brilliant on the part of the tobacco companies, they are going to hook these kids on nicotine at a young age."
"We ought to be making clear that we don't want children being delivered pure nicotine, which is a gateway mechanism or gateway drug," Ryan said. "[The CDC] called it a 'nicotine addiction on training wheels.'"
Deputy Mayor Neil Kerch added, "whether it's nicotine or ..., we have a duty up here to protect our children."
Commissioner Joey Scuotto also brought up that the electronic cigarettes, which are portable vaporizers, can also be used to smoke liquid ......... and that the city would soon have to face that problem, too.
"You thought spice was bad? This is going to be a thousand times worse than spice because they are already selling it," Scuotto said. "I guarantee that any of our cops that pull over people, and they say it's just a cigarette, I would bet that 60 percent [or more], it won't be nicotine. This is what we have to worry about now."
