Super Excited, but I still have questions.

So, my new manhattan mod, ohm meter, plume veil, vtc4 batteries, and multimeter are set to arrive tomorrow. I plan on starting my first coil build as soon as I get off work.
Only real question I have left is what to use for wicking material. I know it's mostly subjective and everyone has different views, but since I am not going to build anything crazy yet, I was thinking of using plain cotton. Is there any reason I shouldn't use cotton? Or is there a better wicking material to use?
If it helps at all, I'm planning to build a 28g kanthal macro coil to start with. I think this will be easiest for me to start with since it won't be quite as small. Does anyone have a better suggestion for coil build for a newb?

Don't know anything about the Plume Veil, but cotton is a good way to go. Don't be worried about a micro coil, super easy to build!

Cotton is great to learn with. It's really cheap, and once you get a good coil built you can use it for weeks - all you need to do is periodically rewick with cotton. What I mean by rewick is pull the old cotton out and throw it away. Then you fire your coil to burn off any gunk or buildup, gently brush it off with a Q-tip or something. Then put new cotton wick in. The wire coil remains on the mod the whole time and is reused.

Really the only drawbacks to cotton - the wick itself doesn't last long. So you will put new wick in a lot more frequently than Ekowool etc. Some people don't like the taste cotton gives off at first. Lastly, if you dry your cotton out it will burn and you will need to rewick because you ain't never getting rid of that burnt taste otherwise.

Cotton is cheap and easy to wick with. CVS organic for like 4 bucks and you will never run out. You will actually have tons left over when you eventually start to try and use other wick materials.

Just a FYI, don't use any ole cotton ball. Make sure it is 100% cotton and most folks are using the organic type. Some cotton balls are actually not cotton at all and some are only partially cotton so beware and read the labeling.

Not gonna happen on a subohm build on a Plume Veil.
Organic cotton is fine, but check out Rayon/Cellucotton

All I use is 28ga Kanthal and cotton. Works great for my purposes which is a couple KFL clones, a couple of Foggers, a Lemo, and lots of drippers. You should be fine.

Thank you everyone for all your responses. I got organic cotton from CVS, and plan on building my first coil tomorrow. Unfortunately I wasn't as prepared as I thought and needed a few more materials.
