so i just really discovered vaping last week, i was at walmart and seen the mistic battery and cartridge was $7, living in ny with $11 packs of cigarettes i figured for $4 less than a pack i can at least try it out. besides, i have ...... away $7 on a lot less, so i tried it, and i loved it, so i went and bought the charger and 10 refill cartridges, and got the wife to try it and switch over as well. then my friend came over, and was surprised to see me using it, and showed me he was using the blu from wallgreens, and i tried his, and thought it was better than the mistic. so i was about to buy their whole starter kit before i decided to do a bit of research first and stumbled upon this forum, and discovered this whole maddening and complex world of vaping i never knew existed. there is an awful lot that i am never going to understand without actually going through the motions and trying different things out myself, its just the way my brain works, i have to play the video game before i read the instruction booklet to fully understand how to play it. so ive decided my best bet to start off would be the ego twist 1000 mAh (?) i naturally would like a starter kit. but i have not found a decent starter kit for the twist. so my solution is to buy this starting kit Joye eGo-C XXL 1000mAh Starter Kit | Joyetech eGo-C E Cigarette and then buy 1 twist battery for $26, im thinking this will be nice to have 3 batteries because with the starter kit i will have enough supplies so my wife could also use one, then there is a spare charged up if needed. is this a good idea? and i am curious as to how much juice i will need, i am going through the mistic cartridges about 1 every other day, i normally smoke almost 2 packs a day, but i dont seem to smoke as much if i can just hit it once every once in a while. i would prefer to have a 2 month supply on hand so i can better gauge what i will go through. and is there anything else i should get, or get more of thats really going to make me glad i have it? any and all help or advice is greatly appreciated, im kind of lost and confused, oh yeah, is that 'myvaporstore.com site really good to order from, seems like they are the best, if not please let me know, thanks guy's i know its a lot, but i'll get better, i swear, cheers!

I bought my first Twist about 2 months ago and had many Riva (= Kgo) batteries on stock. I used the Rivas while charging the twist. However, I found the Twist was so much better that I had to buy another Twist.

So, my recommendation is to not waste any money on the ordinary batteries even though they are cheaper and come in kits. Just get two twists, a charger and some kind of atomizer. A clearomizer is a safe good choice--recommend 2.2 ohms or so--but I use an eGo T type B most of the time.

Finding the right juice is the hardest problem. Most use 1 to 4 ml a day. (I vape 36 mg so don't need as much juice since it's stronger--I only use 1 mg per day.)
Find a place that will sell you juice in 5ml or less quantities so you don't waste as much money on juices you don't like--and that will be MOST of them !

Good luck !

Welcome! I was just in your shoes about 2 months ago.
That starter kit looks okay. I decided to build my own "kit" with the Twists, and really saved $$$.

In the beginning, I found I spent alot of $$$ on trying different vendor's flavors of e-liquid.
Once you find a handful of flavors you REALLY like, then order the larger quantities (30ml+).
Order lots of samples at first and try different places.

It's going to get (be) overwhelming a bit at first, but keep on reading, reading, reading, and reading some more- you'll get the hang of it.

Not bad on the kit but two things: I seems a bit over priced and it uses atomizers which I believe means you will need to drip. I never got into that myself but had good luck with cartomizers and now clearomizers. Both of those you can fill and vape for a while without having to constantly drip juice every few puffs. Three batteries per person is the way to go. Juice? You'll need to find what YOU like. I currently am hooked on AltCigs Bob's Krave Kutter. Good luck on your journey.

Welcome to ECF and congratulations for opening your mind to an alternative to smoking. There is not a singular product nor supplier that is the "best" though some provide better value than others .
The learning curve is initially steep , don't let this deter you.
Others will chime in with suggestions on what to buy and where .I will say to order juice in small quantities (sample packs) until you find something you love . You will be surprised in the end what your favorites will be .
Read, read ,read the stickies .Lots of good info there.
Also check the Deals and steals thread at this link. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/pay-forward-pif/85781-deals-steals.html . Bookmark that thread so you can find it easily.
Again, welcome. You have made the best decision for your life.

I would recommend just buying the twist batteries and whatever other accessories you need. A charger, or two, and the liquid delivery system. The delivery system is a cartomizer (what your currently calling a cartridge), clearomizer, tank system (combo of a cartomizer and tank), or an atomizer. Pick from 1 of the following to start:

1) The easiest to use is probably the clearomizer. Look into the vivi nova's or mini vivi nova's (mini's fit best on the twist), these are sort of a tank-clearo option and you can get replacement heads for a couple bucks when one burns out. There are also other clearomizers such as Kanger T2 (?), but I don't know a lot about them.

2) The second easiest to use is probably cartomizers. Depending how frugal you wish to be, you can clean and recycle these for quite a few fills. Personally, I noticed after filling a few times the lifespan seemed to go down, but you may find different. These are a tank that holds the liquid with polyfil inside. I believe these are what your currently using and calling a cartridge.

3) Another option would be an atomizer. These require dripping (carrying a bottle of liquid around with you and putting a couple of drops in every few puffs) or cartridges (that apparently have leaking issues). Probably the most labor intensive and possibly messy option, although some swear by the vapor flavor and production using this method.

4) Finally there are tank systems, which typically seem to combine a cartomizer and a tank, so that the carto doesn't have to be filled all the time. Many people like this option, and I have no personal experience with it. I personally can't see any reason to use anything but the vivi nova's.

So, here's what I'd buy:

at least 2x twists (I'm getting by with 2 just fine, but going to get another one just in case), 2-4 mini vivi tanks, ego C charger (add wall adapter if needed) and a carry case if you like (medium ego case works great, but so would the small and large). This is what I'd get per person.

Then, just load up on a bunch of sample sizes of liquids from different suppliers, ranging in different flavors. Don't try to chase down that one liquid that reminds you of your cigarettes, you probably won't find it. Instead take the approach of finding something different, and better. Don't be afraid to try stuff that you wouldn't ever think you'd want to "smoke", like fruits. A lot of x smokers here find vaping stuff like fruits and desert flavors to be quite enjoyable, so give it a fair chance you might too.

thanks guy's, that helps a lot, but im confused on having to drip even though there is a cartridge, i definately just want to fill a cartridge, and smoke on that until i run out. so i can buy batteries, a charger, cartormizer, and juice and be good to vape? no atomizer heads?

The eGo C has a proprietary tank system.

You have a three-piece atomizer assembly. There's a housing that screws to the battery. Then the atomizer just sits in the housing. It is then secured by a cone which screws onto the outermost threads on the battery. The tank is a simple plastic unit that you snap on. It has a hole in the bottom which accommodates that spike you see on the atomizer.

I've heard they're prone to leaking. I haven't had that issue yet but I just started using them. I don't like the draw on them and they seem to get the battery kind of hot. I've used them to sample flavors since they're small and easy to fill. I don't think I'll buy more. I do like the fact that you can replace the atomizer separately from the housing. Less waste. But I'm seeing 5 packs for around $25 and whole Stardusts for around $6. Not sure how long each of them last, though.

So far, I'm liking clearos for ease of use. I have a Vision Stardust and a Mini Vivi Nova. They both seem quite nice but I haven't had them long. The Stardust is smaller and lighter. The Mini still fits ok on my Twist but it's a bit top heavy. Holds more, though. Plus it does seem a bit more sturdy and you can replace the heads without replacing the whole unit. I've heard people comment that the Mini is easier to clean, too.

frigs, allow my to clarify the dripping with cartomizers as you stated that is a bit confusing.
As you may know , cartomizers (cartos) are disposable. However they can be used a few times before their life has expired.
When the flavor or vapor starts to diminish , this is a good time to remove the top and replenish the filling with some more e-juice.

You could just chuck it when its empty or just replace with another fresh one and refill later. However, do top off with more e-juice at the very first sign of a burnt taste because once the filler material is burnt , you cannot get rid of the awful taste.
I.E. Why through it away after one use when you could probably have it last a few days to a week?

Hope that was helpful.

Absolutely nothing wrong with the Egos. They are great starters or even upgrades. I started on the mistic as well. It was ok for the time. It was either a mistic starter kit, or a carton of smokes. I thank God I chose the mistic kit. It introduced me to to a whole new world, and after about 20 years of smoking, I am now 96 days into being tobacco free...and I couldn't be happier. My fiance and I kicked it the same day. We used the mistics for about 3 weeks and we knew we weren't going back to smoking, but the mistics weren't cutting it. We researched a ton, and came across mods. We watched a lot of youtube reviews. Mainly GrimmGreen and PBusardo. We went a little crazy. We kicked a habit and gained a hobby. I currenly have a Saber Touch Kick Edition from Vapor Moon, ProVari V2 Chrome from ProVape, VMOD XL bottom feeder from Vapage, and The Boss from SmartVapes. My Fiance has a Silver Bullet from Altsmoke with a Kick, a VMOD XL from Vapage, and an Ego USB Passthough 1100 mah from SmartVapes. We get all of our batteries, battery chargers, atomizers and cartomizers from SmartVapes. We also get most of our juice from SmartVapes. We each have a Vivi Nova 2.8ml tank, I have a Smoketech carto tank, and she has a Stardust Clearomizer.

Do yourself a favor and check out SmartVapes.com. They have some of the best prices on everything. It would be worth your while.

My best advice to you is to do your research. Educate youself...there is a lot to learn...and believe me, I'm still learning (I just dove in head first). Opinions matter, but everyone is different. Try a few different things to see what YOU like and don't like. What works for someone may not work for you...and vice versa. And when it comes to juice flavors...taste is totally subjective...try what you think you like. Look to see if there is a vapers group in your area or somewhat close to you. I looked on Facebook and found the Memphis Vapers Group. They meet monthly and luckily we have a few vendors that are a part of the group. We get great deals on all of our supplies and juice. We've gone the last 2 months and love it. We have met a lot of great people in the process. And most importantly, don't get frustrated. KEEP ON VAPING!!!

alright so ive done a ton of research and found Health Cabin has the best prices, they have the ego twist, and vivi nova's and nova mini's (which i want to try both) finding a site that has both the twist, and nova's (or just have the actual vivi nova's) well that is not a simple task, and then to have them at such a good price, i havent found anything close to it. if there is a better place i would sure like to hear about it, but for the price of that starter kit i was going to get, i am getting a slew of supplies that will more than start me off. if you havent checked them out, you might want to.

my first starter (and still what i'm using as i'm new as well :)) is a standard ego 650mah starter kit. 2 batts, 2 atomizers, 5 carts, usb charger. I dripped halo juice (their apple is fantastic) for the first week or so. I have upgraded the heads and swap between a "stardust" v3 clearomizer, and an 1.8 ohm LR atty (for when I'm looking for great vape production). Overall I'm very satisfied and haven't had an analog in a few weeks! Nothing I've used has failed me so far. I really like the stardust as a portable because the drip tip screws on the tank and the tank fits nicely on the battery so there is no leaking and I don't have to drip while I'm mobile. At home, I don't mind dripping so the LR is awesome. Lots of folks say the LRs especially die after a short while, being a week or so, but I've been using mine daily with heavy use for a week and a half and it's still producing like it was out of the box.

I don't really know all of the advantages for going VV, but I know that if you go over 3.7 volts on LR attys they blow and could possibly kill your batt.

Either way,the eGo is a solid starter choice for serious vaping and I'm sure the eGo-C and T are awesome as well. Do yourself a favor and make sure you're getting a Joyetech eGo though, there are apparently a lot of knockoffs.

Good luck vaping!

That looks like a good site but it looks like they are in China. I've read a few posts where people say they've been waiting forever for their stuff to arrive, so I guess that's why. Their web site looks good though, clean and well designed. Every other site I've visited so far has been pretty shabby and amateurish looking. Too bad those people are so far.

Frigs,

I'm just getting into the forum but I've been vaping for a few years now. My suggestion for someone looking to transition to vaping is to get a few ego twists for you and your wife ( Joye ego-c twist Manual Switch Battery ) a charger or two( Joye ego USB Charger ) a few of the Kanger T2 clearomizers ( Kanger T2 EgO Clearomizer Tank System ) and some replacement heads for the Kanger clearomizer( Kanger T2 EgO Replacement Atomizer Heads.) Then all you need to do is try some juices. Also before you buy anything check out some review on youtube. There are lots of knowledgeable people out there.
