I'm sort of one of those people, I've done many really low ohm builds, a couple in the sub 0.2 ohms. I really have to stress battery safety, only
batteries i use are the sony vt3 and vtc4's. They both do roughly 30 amps continuous, and are kinda safe at as low as 0.14 ohms. While saying all that, i can't really recommend going that low, but if you do your free to ask me any questions. Anything i can do to help people stay safe is always a plus.
I figured that luke-warm was the best response I was going to get. I would hope that if any new vapers are reading this, that they would understand how dangerous this actually is and how little of a margin for error there is when it comes to battery safety. Personally, I have even thought about using LiFePO4 batteries to increase my safety margin. I will say, I have seen some very very very low builds online, and it makes me nervous.
As for purpose, its pure cloud chasing. When it comes to builds, the heat definitely plays a factor. I actually run quad 1/8" air holes to compensate for the heat generated. To me, it would make sense that the importance of having the lower ohm level would be to generate more heat and then add in more airflow to get bigger clouds. In my builds, batteries are ALWAYS dated, production and cycle matched VTC4s or MNKE 26650s. Batteries are voltage checked before and after charging for correct voltage levels and are not charged on some feneric charger. Every build is checked on an ohm reader first with cap on to detect ohms and shorts. But I still haven't gone as low as I've seen some go.
To note, Leo, the inventor of the dragon coil and tiger coil is both a big proponent of battery safety and drasticly low sub-ohm building. Personally I tend to hover in the .5-.2 ohm range in mechs and the 1-2.5 ohm range for vv/vw.
