Well. I just filled my REO bottle with the last of my first 100 ml of unflavored. I guess I vape unflavored now. I can lend some thanks to the RM2 for that, because I really didn't care for unflavored in my favorite commercial attys. - There's probably some quantification owed there because I liked it less in two of my favorite commercial attys than the other two.... but never the less, It's smoother and has a better flavor (yes for those reading who haven't used unflavored -> 'unflavored' does not equal 'no flavor') in the RM2 than any of the commercial attys.

I've primarily vaped AVE 555 for more than 2 years... Honestly, I'm pretty surprised at how easy it was to switch. It took me 2 years to find a juice I liked every day... I found a hundred or so juices I liked, but that was the one that I always liked no matter what. I used it every day for more than 2 years. I thought it would be tough to switch. -- I'm also feeling just a little bit sorry I won't be doing as much business with Ben any more. AVE has been really good to me. They're a top-notch outfit that has been there for their customers for a long time providing a very consistent product (and when they had a problem with their business, they went above and beyond to make sure they never had that problem again... some see it differently, but those folks are wrong).

I suppose the unflavored I decided to use is expensive as far as unflavored goes, but I like it. I found the DIY juice section of the forum way too difficult to search and everyone I asked via PM or general thread seemed to have a different answer as to "best unflavored VG". I'm well beyond falling back in to my expensive habit of just buying everything and trying it for myself... I bought on some advice in a thread from 2011 and went with Xtremevaping. I like it - it's good - and I get the same more than adequate TH as AVE. -- And that's what I was worried about. AVE has mastered providing decent TH with their 100% VG juice and I was worried I'd end up with a bunch of unflavored that left me feeling like something was lacking. So, I feel fortunate that I chose what I chose.

So... there it is. I now primarily vape unflavored. -- I never have to buy a commercial atty again because of the Reomizers. I never have to budget again to buy 5 months worth of juice at a time or try to plan my juice buys around sales I know are coming. I recently bought new batteries for all three REOs.... I'm going to go ahead and imagine that it's going to be a little easier to save up for my next REO now ;)

Thanks SuperX, FilthyBeast, Ancient Puffer [etc etc etc] and everyone else who participated in this thread. Thanks to JoshInTheCity for starting this thread, too. It helped. I've considered this change on and off for a while, and now I'm just glad I did it.

Good to hear, Six. What with switching to a REO, building your own coils/wicks on an RM2, and vaping unflavored nic, I just don't see how it could get any less expensive or more convenient.

I remember when I was vaping flavored juice, even from the same source, there was variation in the flavor/consistency from time to time, but now I have the SAME vape, day after day. I can easily keep on hand enough supplies to last me, and my wife, for years, and without taking out a 2nd mortgage to do it.

When I started vaping, for a household of two, I think it was costing me around $50 a week, what with atomizers, cartomizers, batteries and juice. I think I'm now spending maybe $1-2 a week, so I'm finally saving the money I expected to when I started vaping.

I hope others that have found how easy and convenient unflavored is, will continue to post here, and thus, keep this thread alive for new folks coming along.

REO, RBA of choice, coil/wick of choice, a good set of batteries, and unflavored juice. It doesn't get any easier, more convenient, or less expensive.

I tried this last night!
Unflavored 80VG/20PG 8MG will be my everyday vape now, WAY to much hassle with flavorings !
Does storing your nic in the freezer slow down the oxidation or ?

That's the theory anyway. Combine it with argon gas used in wine making to eliminate exposure to oxygen... Not sure how many years I'll get doing it that way but a nic testing kit should prove out the results in a few years. :)

Ok so after reading this thread and debating getting some for a month, Im ready to jump in...Gonna get in on the sale from MFS for the 100mg liter in ...Any recommendations on where to get the VG for an excellent price? Is MFS' price's for VG fair enough? I will probably start with only a small batch so any recommendations on how much VG to start out with would be nice...I am getting the 100mg in 25pg/75VG and will be following along the lines of Super-X's recipe of adding VG to get around 10mg/ml...So Im probably just gonna get a liter of 100% VG to start... TIA! Im super pumped! This will allow me to get another REO sooner, hopefully... :)

Well Im a stickler for free shipping, so this time I went with MFS for everything:

1L of 100mg 75vg/25pg nic base
1L VG
30ml syringe
10ml syringe
4x 250ml amber glass bottles
125ml amber glass dropper bottle

all for ~$80 shipped...

I think thats about all I need... any suggestions? Im gonna mix it in the amber dropper bottle...use the 10ml syringe for the 100mg nic base, then add vg to fill up the bottle.... I will use a funnel to transfer the nic base into the amber glass jars and store them in the freezer...

Does it sound like Im on the right path? Im gonna read up on how to safely do this all before I open up anything...I have some gloves...
TIA!

I used 3oz spice jars from bed bath and beyond to portion my nic base. Those go in the freezer.

They have a wide neck so you just pour it in.

Then I marked a plastic condiment squeeze bottle for a 1:10 ratio of 100 mg nic base to VG. This will give me 10mg mic base in mostly VG.

Then I fill my REO bottles right outta that condiment bottle. Hella easy and no syringes or small mouth bottles to deal with. I went down that road once and it was a pain in the AYuss.

This is the condiment bottle I mentioned:)

That's a good idea. - One of the things that endeared me to AVE was the spout top 100ml bottles. Super easy and no mess filling REO bottles. I was wondering what I might end up using if I can't find bottles that fit the spouts I have now. TY

Thanks for reclarfying how you do it. So basically, you just take the spice jar with the nic base, and pour it out into that big condiment jar till it reached that 1:10 ratio line? For some reason I was assuming you used a syringe somewhere in this process. I just now realized that pouring 75% VG out of a wide mouth plastic container is probably pretty easy because of its thickness. You probably dont get much spillage or dripping, huh? I think I might still use the amber bottles I purchased because I don't know what else I would do with them lol. I will probably get the large condiment bottle for mixing it together though...THANKS! Im so happy I found Reoville and this thread before that sale ended! :)

Making 10mg/mL with 100mg/mL nic base would be a 9:1 ratio.

Why not just purchase the unflavored in your desired nic strength no mixing/measuring required?

i vape 24mg. 1 liter of that from MFS costs $42.95. For $50, i can get 1 liter of 100mg, and mix it down with relatively cheap PG or VG to get about 4 liters at 24mg. so mixing is at least 1/3 the cost.

That makes sense. Figured price was the reason.
I'm down to 9-6mg. My last purchase was from nude nic.
Considering the cost on all the flavored juices. It's still a bargain for me.
I'm glad I went the unflavored route tho still mixing a little of those old flavors in.
At this rate it will take me awhile to use them all up :2cool:

I used to do that and still have a metric ....ton of 24 mg. But to truly stock up and brace for the storm, I got 100mg cause I liter mixed at 1:10 nic to VG consumes a lot less space in the freezer than 10 liters of premix :)
