I set up my kayfun and man it's kicking my ....! You really feel the nic with this. The flavor is pretty good, I imgine it will get better as the coil breaks in. My coil is 2.9 ohms with 32 guage wire. Higher than I wanted, less wraps next time. I'm new to wrapping coils and I'm using 2mm Ekowool, any suggestions for optimal performance?

I think there is a bit of a learning curve, just because its a bit different than anything else out there. The bees knees? You better betcha:) I've got a flipping ton o gear, but I always come back to these beauties for my day to day vape! Finally got a 3.1 on the way, can't wait to work it into the rotation! How about it Kayfunites, am I right?

it take a bit to get worked out just right (at least it did in my case) but taste vapor are excellent. If it's wicking slow and you don't feel like taking it apart to fix the wick, etc, just cover the air hole a little with your finger and take a pull or 2 to fill the chamber.

I've been running mine at lower ohms lately (1-1.2) with flat ribbon kanthal, and she's vaping great. Going to try a 0.6 ohm coil next.

This is for whoever is going to order Ekowool, I recieved mine today from Cloud 9 UK.
From left to right
The Ekowool that was supplied with Kayfun, size unknown to me.
Next is the 3mm Ekowool from Cloud 9
Next is 3mm silica from Stormy's
And last is a piece of Nextel XC-116

I was going to use 3mm Ekowool in place of the regular twisted silica but that's not going to happen.
Keep my mistake in mind when deciding what size to order, I hope this is helpful.

The 3 mm Ekowool is hollow just like the XC-116 and it appears to be the same size also but I unbraided some of the Ekowool and it didn't put glass slivers into my fingers like the Nextel did. Round and hollow is a more accurate description (sleeving)

I bought this for use in my Terminators which I have used a Dremel to increase the channel size to accept 3 mm wick. After trying out the fit of this Ekowool 3 mm I'm thinking that I might be able to make this work.
It fits across the top of the ceramic just fine but too tight for the side channels. I have extra ceramics, I'll just modify one for use with the Ekowool. Wrong thread, yes and no

I ordered the 2 mm stuff from Cloud9 and it seems to be bigger than what came with the Kayfun. The 3mm looks pretty thick, I have some of that too. Both seem to work well but I have been using the 2mm a lot more lately. Looking forward to testing with the Ithaka!

Here's a pic of the mini in drip mode...pretty sweet!

Finally, I'm a believer :) I've had my kayfun for a few days now, and every setup has been nothing but dry hits and poor flavor. Did another setup a little while ago, and it too started with less than impressive flavor, but no dry hits. Then suddenly, Tons of flavor and vapor production.
I have been trying to do the coil as I've seen in the videos, by making the wick a certain lenght and tucking them in and screwing the chamber over.
But this coil I made like in Mark Todds review, just fed the wicks through the chamber and screwed it down, trimmed the excess lenght of the wick and tucked them down in to the spaces over the channels.

Hey fellow Kayfun owners! I made a new coil, this time it's 1.7 ohms and stable. I am having flavor and wicking issues however. The flavor is on the weak side, I get better flavor from my Evods. I'm constantly having to plug the holes with my finger and dry pull to get juice to feed the chamber or I get dry hits. I know it's me and there's a learning curve to this device.

I'm using 32 guage kanthal and 2 mm Ekowool. I don't think the coil is too tight on the wick as it's making good contact and yet I can manipulate the coils freely. I have the coil going across the air hole on the diagonal. Any suggestions?

Try experimenting with coil height for flavor. As for wicking, make sure the wick isn't packed tight and isn't in the juice feed channel. try experimenting with either less or more wick, positioning, etc.

Just compared the ekowool that comes with the kayfun to the 2 mm I bought from cloud9. Looks like the stuff that came with the kayfun is smaller, probably 1 mm.
It looked like 1 mm to me also but this 3 mm, well maybe my buddy can use it when he walks his Pitt bull, he needs a big strong lease.
I should have ordered the 2 mm I guess, an expensive mistake, not the first one by any means.

I have a couple of ideas on how I might use it as intended.

Out of curiosity, do you have the ends of your coil coming off the top side of the wick (... todd does) or do you have them coming off the bottom as SM does?

I have them coming off the top now, Like Todd did it. And the wick is straight across, not at an angle as in Fed's pic over here.
I don't know, it sure does work for me now, So I will more than likely keep doing it this way.
I need another kayfun
