if the wraps touch each other, dont they short out ?

No, wraps touching each other will not short out as long as long as they do not touch any part of the atomizer besides the positive and negative poles. The electrons still have only one path from the negative to the positive post. You can see in my pictures that my wraps are touching and when fired light up like one solid mass of wire. This build has no hot legs.

Here is a good article in Reddit about wicking material. The Monkey gets into silica, Nextel and Eko. Seems long but it is a good read for some that think the materials are the same.

On the wick and the coil is formed coke. Deteriorate the liquid supply and heating coils. In consequence of the deteriorating taste. Burn the need to remove the coke.
Actions are simple - a few times to press the Power button for a few seconds. Working coil burns coke. Ideally, the smoke does not need to appear. After burning coil is working properly. This allows you to not make a complete replacement of the coil for a long time.

Should this be done when the wick is dry? Also, do I just burn it without trying to remove the black stuff from the wire? Thanks!

u guys were right. i opened up the kayfun and my coils looked like my pan does after i burn grease on it.. super black gunk.. juice was way to sweet for it.. im recoiling now

Invest in a hand torch from the big box stores and they are easily torched clean - rinse first to remove wet juice.

Idk what I am doing wrong with my kayfun, I wrap 5wraps of 29gauge on a single 3mm wick, I not getting any satisfaction with my v3.1... on the verge of giving up, seems like my spheroids which I sold awhile ago gives me better flavour. I also find that my juice leak in to the collector tank even though I cover the air hole and fill from the top and then flip it upside down and close it. even filling with the fill hole using the needle tip bottle I also have juice ending up in my collector tank. Anyone using 3mm wicks on the kayfun advise me what to do? I have some 2mm ekowool otw but it will take awhile... if i can't seem to make it right I think it would end up at the classifieds soon

I have spheroids and kayfuns I do agree with some juices flavor is a little better with the spheroid I think that's to do with the small close chamber. I like both the same my top 2 rebuildables by far.Also try normal silica and or different wire.
If you decide to get rid of it hit me up i'd trade you one of my spheroids and some cash for it I have many always will!

Perfect. I go back and forth from .28 to .30 on the exact same eko and wraps. Looks perfect in your later picture.

I am currently using a singall 3mm piece of Ekowool, rapped with 6 wraps of 30g at 1.3 ohm. So far this has been my favorite set up to date, I slide a 1/16th drill bit inside the ekowool before I wrap it. When I get to the stage of stuffing the Ekowool back down into the center tube thing, I fan the ends out to keep from clogging the juice channel. I got a smidge more flavor from a doubled up piece of xs16 but it clogged up way to fast and didn't wick as well as 3mm Ekowool. I have yet to have any issues with mine, no matter how crappy my rebuild (they can be pretty bad) the thing just chugs along. I have yet to use the fill port, mine didn't come with a needle cap. Using the Hippieben fill method I have yet to have a leak or any juice in the catch cup. I do get a tiny gurgle for the first few hits but it goes away.

Speaking of micro coils on the Kayfun, don't you loose wicking ability with such a small diameter wick? Or am I missing something like a flavor wick? Really interested in trying a micro coil.

Just received my first Kayfun 3.1, built a coil using 32g Kanthal 5wraps around a double strand of 3mm Ekowool.

Very nice.

The one feature I love the most is the adjustable air screw.

Sounds like you're filling liquid with the hole on the left which is the wrong hole. The manual says to turn it upside down and blow into this hole to get rid of the excess juice. Be sure to hold a paper towel at the drip tip.

The correct hole for filling is the one on the right.

The retailer I bought mine from didn't include a manual and I did this myself before I downloaded the manual in pdf form.

maybe u leave some air in syringe when filling, then when u fill with syringe that "air pocket" gets pushed in the kayfun and pushes juice out the top..

Since you said fill valve, I doubt that you are using the wrong hole, but confirm anyway. Have you checked that the small o-ring where the chimney meets the top cap is present and not damaged or pinched? The o-ring can sometimes slip down onto the skinny part of the chimney and leave a hole for juice to pass....please advise

I just picked up a new kayfun and i been leaking around town all day. I got home, i tried different methods and still leaking. I tried to fill up from the top and turn it upside down to screw the rest of the way and the liquid just leaks out the mouth end. And put it upside down to fill up from the hole and it still leaks from the mouth end. and when i put it upright it vapes fine but sometimes it will leak out the middle hole (air intake). I need helppppp
