I have been using a Standard size battery with turbo cartomizer from Vapornine with 16mg to 18mg cartomizers.

I find the throat hit "okay" it is there something but other times I can find myself taking a drag unt the 10 sec cutoff, and sometimes not getting the the desired throat hit.

I want a nice smooth throat hit, nothing that would be harsh and make my throat sratchy.

I am interested in the ego and was wondering if it will perform better then my current setup. I know that the ego supplies only 3.1v versus the KR at true 3.7v, would this make it feel weaker to me?

I do not want a high voltage device, I am leaning more toward an Ego with LR atties.

So my question is if an Ego with normal atties will perform the same as, better, or weaker then my V4L standard battery with turbo cartomizer from Vapornine?

And do you think the LR atties + Ego will be to my liking?

Thanks

First off, the LR attys with the eGo is to a LOT of people's liking. It is all the rage these days. Whether it is to your liking depends on if you want higher wattage, and given what you are saying about not wanting too harsh and all, it might not be to your liking, but it might. I think the eGo with a regular 2.5 ohm atty will be great, and you will likely like that a lot.

I had to check, but you are correct: the eGo/Tornado puts about 3.1V on the coil. So it would be about the same wattage as a regular or mega 510, but it seems to do things with the airflow and the temperature with the cone that bring the vapor up, so to speak. It will not be as powerful as a box mod, like a Bartleby, with a 14500 900 mAh batt, which is a "true" 3.7V device. With a typical 1.8 ohm LR atty, you are looking at about 5.8 W of power, which is right at my sweet spot. I also am not a fan of more/hotter than that. That LR atty, however, will drain the batt much faster than a normal one, so another factor to consider.

The kr808d-2 cartos (e9) are about 3 ohms. the turbo cartos are about 3.2 ohm, so they would be actually giving less wattage than the regular cartos. And less than the eGo with LR attys. Of course, there are convenience issues. The kr808d-1 is a carto system, so very convenient, but harder to add your own juices. The batts are reported to last longer than the ego batts with a regular 510 atty.

If you don't know the math, watts = volts*volts/ohms.

If you are in the market for a new PV, and want to try a mod, both of these systems are quite good, each in their own ways, and you will likely be happy with either. For me, I like making my own DIY juices and a cart system to play with recipes. This would be more difficult with a carto system. I would also suggest looking into the box mods that use the 14500 batt. Like the Bartleby, which is $50 and will be about the strength of the ego with LR, and USB charges, so is a PT too.

Bartleby

With reg 510 attys its about 5.8 W. With DSE510 attys ( 3 ohm) it would be about 4.5 W. With LR attys (1.8 ohm) its about 7 W. That to me is a nice range by only changing the attys. Travels well in the pocket as it has an on/off switch. Jay is a master builder and puts out an excellent PV that lots of the veterans here love. Small, descrete, durable, and 14500 batts are cheap. Certainly cheaper than ego or kr batts. You would have to get a normal Li-ion battery charger though. They are cheap too, however.

DealExtreme: $5.16 Universal Smart Quick Charger - Recharges All Batteries (100~240V AC)

Hope this helps!

A few things to add (not change) to all that good advice from Kurt.

Before spending $75-$80 on an eGO, why not make sure that you like the Joye 510 atomizer (or the DSE510 that Kurt mentioned)? You can get a full kit (two complete e-cigs) for $35-$40 ... or a 510 atty and 901-to-510 adapter for a total of $10 (e.g., from MadVapes) and use it on one of your Kr8 batts. [The 901 and Kr8 threading is the same.] You may fall in love with it as so many people do ... or you may find (as I do) that it really churns out the vapor but provides little TH.

If you love it, the eGO or a mod like the Bartleby will provide many hours of uninterupted vaping ... and enable you to try an LR atomizer. [I switch back and forth between regular and LR attys. For me, high watts is great for quick, hard hits; lower watts is better for long, lingering vaping sessions.]

As for the Bartleby, it is as good (and certainly as cost-effective) as Kurt says it is ... and it is not for everyone. For example, I don't like box mods. I much prefer cylindrical PVs (e.g., the eGO you're considering or the ProVape that I'll be receiving shortly*). One is not better than the other, merely a matter of personal preference for a certain size and shape.

* [There's a story behind that, about which I'm feeling pretty good right now.:D]
If you don't love the 510, I recommend trying the penstyle atomizer, e.g., DSE801 or especially Joye 302. For me, it delivers just the right combination of flavor, vapor, and throat hit. You can get a 901-to-801 adapter and a DSE801 atty from MadVapes for $10. A similar adapter and a Joye 302 atty can be had from LiteCigUSA for $13.

Penstyle attys (including the low-resistance 801 from NHaler) can be used on most mods with the appropriate adapter.
