Been reading various threads on this site since I switched to ecigs 8 months ago. But never posted before, so it looks like I am stuck in the newby forum. Just read a 19 page thread on the Mt. Baker Vapor juices and what everyone liked. Was really hoping to respond there, but......

So I have been a Halo juice guy since day 1. I like their menthol flavors a lot. Recently tried a juice from a local shop here in MN, it was a 100% pg juice, and it killed my stomache. Noticed since I switched back to the Halo liquid I have, it is also upsetting my stomache a bit. Somebody suggested Mt. Baker Vapor, as you can choose the pg/ vg ratio. It was suggested that I try a 50/ 50 blend.

Ok, thats the background story. If you cared! Looking at the Extreme Ice and the Menthol flavors from MBV. My go to liquids right now are Mystic and SubZero from Halo. I like the Mystic, but I LOVE the SubZero. Wondering which of the two MBV flavors are closer to SubZero. And if I do a 50/ 50 blend, do I want/ need to add the extra shot of flavor? Do I want a 50/ 50 blend, or should I go higher vg?

I am vaping out of a Kanger Evod kit, and everything at 6mg nic.

Thanks all!

My suggestion is to stick with Halo. We quit 7 months ago and began, like most others, with MBV. Then, you progressively move on to other vendors and you realize there's a whole 'nother world out there and the quality is miles better. I wasn't satisfied with MBV at the onset.. I'm not a huge fan of steeping and I hated waiting for up to two weeks until it "cured". Ridiculous! I found most of our orders were lazily mixed and with the sheer volume of orders they produce, there's just no way to crank out quality. Some people swear by them. But we've discovered Artisan vendors out there that, while we do pay more for, we are much happier with. Many of those vendors have menthol flavors as well. Do some research.

And just to prove that there is no accounting for taste, I'm the opposite. I was a big Tribeca and Belgian Cocoa from Halo, now I like MBV hawk sauce as one of my daily rotations. I can't stand the base that Halo seem to use in all their flavors now. It makes me sad, I still hang on to an almost full 30ml of Tribeca hoping that one day I will love it again... but so far so bad...

As it seems you have already read the thread on MBV you'll already know that they are a high-quality vendor that many, many people are happy with. Still, like dan1boy says, it's sometimes worth buying a few sampler packs from other vendors to see what else you might like.

As for the posting requirement Yopa, I know it can be a pain - please have a read of this thread from the forum manager. It explains a little why ECF has that rule.

And even though you are not really new - welcome anyway.

EDIT - I forgot to answer the question - extreme ice is a great menthol juice, no flavor shots necessary with that one - it's very strong. It's like sub-zero in many ways.

I'm sorry but I respectfully disagree with this comment 100%, you are most certainly entitled to your opinion on what you like or don't like as is everyone, but there is no fact that these so called Artisan vendors are worth all the extra money you pay, what you are actually paying for is packaging and a name for the most part, of course there are a FEW exceptions. So you state do research, I reiterate that as well!

The best advice I can offer you on this is, try them for yourself but as has been mentioned quite a lot of the juice do require a aging period depending on the type of juice you get, the ratio of PG/VG etc. Some flavors such as Fruits require much less aging time. The problem comes from people NOT paying attention and NOT aging the juices, it's stated to age them right no MBV site, these juices are made to order and are fresh and have not been sitting on a shelf, is it a pain to have to wait, sometimes especially when you first get them, if you have others to hold you over for a least a week or so, then it's best to let them age. Taste is highly subjective, just because a juice cost more does NOT make it better because of price. Seems to the the logic of quite a few people that don't like MBV for whatever reason, most I have seen is the fact that they did NOT let the juices age prior to trying them. If they were so bad they would have the following that they do, nor the tremendous growth they have experienced opposed to other vendors.

Definately steep stuff from MBV. I tried their banana nut bread. Got 30 ml of it because their prices were so good, that I didn't want to bother with the little sample bottles. When I first got it, I felt like kicking myself. Thought I bought 30 ml of an unvapeable juice. It went to the back of my cabinet and collected dust. This week, while I was broke due to buying for Christmas, we got so low on liquid that I tried it again. OMG, it's pretty good now. Good enough to fill on iClear 30 with it and vape it all day for the last two days now. Thank goodness it turned out better, because even if it hadn't, I wouldn't have had a choice but to vape it anyway.

Thanks guys. Good to hear differing opinions.

I would have NO interest in switching from Halo and my lust for SubZero. Its funny, I got a sampler pack of their menthols, and the SubZero was the last I tried. Fell in love instantly. Because I smoke a lower nic level, it gave the perfect heavy throat hit. I call it my medicine! Problem is, since I tried the full on pg juice from a local company, which wreaked havoc on my insides, the Halo juice is bothering me a bit. And Halo doesn't divulge their mixture ( I have read that people thinks its about 80/20 pg/vg). So, I was just looking to try a higher vg blend, see if that helped with the stomach problems.

Oh, and thanks, InTheShade, for the Extreme Ice info. Even if I get a 50/ 50 mix, I still wouldn't want a flavor shot?

You're welcome.

I would say no, I get mine from MBV at 50/50 and it's pretty strong. Maybe you could order 1 X 15ml with no flavor shot and 1 X 15 with 2 or something just so you can see which you prefer.

Only thing with MBV I've noticed is that the more flavor shots they put, the more chance of the juice having like a soapiness to it caused by too much flavoring. You can often age or steep this soapiness away, but honestly I find the extreme ice perfectly strong enough with no extra flavoring.

Until you decide what you like, you may just order a small sample size - you don't want to end up with 50mls of a juice you don't like - and I'd hate for you to go with what I like and find you prefer something else. Taste is so subjective.

I have been vaping mostly 80pg/20vg juices and also Halo which I love but don't know their mix is and I've noticed I'm having some reactions too. Not sure if it's the PG or what so I just bought some 100%vg to try. With MBV juices I usually use 2 extra shots but I haven't tried any menthol flavors from them so I don't know how strong they are. I'm guessing you'll need at least 1 extra shot as their flavors are more subtle than Halo's flavors.

Maybe this is a question that would be better off in a new thread (or maybe a thread already exists)....but the stomach problems I have been having started right about when I switched from the Halo G6 to an actual mod. Is that something others have had or know about? Curious if there is something in that switch that could be bothering me, as opposed to just simply thinking I need a more vg blend.

If you love Sub Zero, then you might have more luck starting a topic:

What is like Halo Sub Zero?

I agree you need to switch if the ratio or something is bothering you. Does subzero have tobacco taste in it or not? But intense menthol:

Vapor God Arctic Wolf * lots of people like this one!
Arctic Cowboy from the Plume Room
the "ice" juices from Mister E's liquid
Vaporcast Prothol
VaporBomb Arctic Ice
Ejuice Monkeys Menthol Ice
Vapors Etc Menthol extreme
Mountain Oaks Frostbite or the White Leaf Menthol (if you like a bit of tobacco underlying-excellent stuff!)(70/30)
Nicquid" Sinapse, Sinthol , Mintoid

If you like minty/menthol, then you will love Extreme Ice! I don't like just plain menthol, so I use it to mix with other juices. It's pretty "in your face" when it comes to flavor. I would say do at least 70%PG for max throat hit.

If you like menthol but also want to try other flavors, I would recommend Thug Juice. It's great for menthol and non-menthol lovers alike. It's a watermelon/grapey/menthol type mix and it's amazing.

Enjoy.
