My soldering gun is either shot, or I s**k at soldering. Couldn't get solder to stick to the positive pin.
Found a great workaround tho- will the positive pin out- I slip a very tight fitting o-ring over the positive pin all the way to the bottom of the pin; then reassembled it all (Had to put the collar on the bottom of the deck first as it would not fit around the added 0-ring) The positive pin still screwed in tightly, but not quite as far- so it now makes contact.
That is a great fix, I have to do the same for EC-Mesh coils with the Atlantis adapter, the pin is just a hair too short so an o-ring on it gives it a proper connection length. I just have to remember not to throw out the old coil without taking the o-ring off first. ;)

I should mention how I did it, more or less as with plumbing, same flux, same solder with one of those mini torches. I place i small rod pointing up in a vice and and slip the end of it into the positive pin to hold it.

But if it dripped back in it would be where the wick/coil is.
Yes, and an oversaturated wick drips too. And for large vertical coils, it is a straight shot to the bottom.

And if you do need to wipe, just a quarter turn on the JMK Tip (no tools) and the tank just drops out. Wipe and drop tank back in and another quarter turn and done. It takes like 5 seconds to do. I love the convenience, but I hate the $28 price. ;)

My boro is always wet in behind, it's part of running a BB. The condensation plug kept my clear panels from getting fogged up.
Same thing happens to me even with the stock key and plug. See...

But with these JMK Tips and no plugs... nothing. Been vaping with this for the past 2 days without wiping, even with my transparent panels.

That's very interesting. I also have a naval brass JMK tip. I'm going to be watching out for this difference.

BTW, do any of you guys know how to get at the underside of the positive pin? On one of my SXK it is compressed all the way down. Works fine, but I'd like to fix it. I'm pretty good with this kinda stuff, but it would be helpful to hear from somebody who's already been in there.

Both of mine are off the deck about the same as in Bill's picture here.

I have 2 SXK clones, both made in the last few months. The Evolv authenticity check says the boards were passed in April and July of this year. One is flat like that and one is spring loaded and travels maybe a millimeter.

Whatever that means.

Yeah it isn't spring loaded, it is just the wire inside positioned to push it out a bit.
I'm not trying to be argumentative at all. You guys know alot more about these things than I do, but man that sure does feel like a spring to me.

I just checked it again and I mean it is consistent and springy. Push it down, slide your fingernail off it and it pops back up.

I know gsmit1, I thought the same thing at first too. That is till I torn it apart. ;)
Well, I have no reason not to take your word for it.

It must have some kind of base/stopper under there to maintain tension with the key then? I mean it can't be just sitting on wires like that right?

That wire is a bit stiff and long (see pic on page one), so it feels springy. And the pin is supposed to be flat. As the BB key presses everything down on the pin. Having a springy pin won't change anything, except making it harder to get the tank in and out.

Yep, mine use to pop up until I sealed around it and glued it in with silicon sealant, I didn't want juice/condensation flowing down there... (the insulator was quite a loose fit in the hole)

I forgot those were there. Very useful. I read this whole thread at one time a little while back.

I guess what I'm getting at is what stops the pin from being pushed inside the mod? When I screw the key down why does the pin stop just above flush? There must be a stopping mechanism of some sort.

Ya I wish mine were sticking out so I could seal them, I'd use something other than silicone though so I didn't have to wait so long for the smell to go away.

I modified the condensation plug that came with my styled Crossbow to let more air through. I used it with my styled Insider, I gave up using it as it still had a bit of restriction and only kept the door dry making me think all was dry......but it wasn't. So out it went.

The pin has a head on it like a nail and the head can't go passed the plastic insulator base. And the base has a lip on it too and it too can't go inside either.
