The SJMY version doesn't use an oring there either. I prefer the clear of the SXK, but like the SJMY for the draw, and the threading is a little better.

Since even the SXK doesn't require much tightening, I'd think it could probably do without the oring as well.
I prefer my tanks clear also. I remember someone making their frosted tanks clear by using a torch or a buffing wheel. I have to find that.

I got the SXK version. Smooooooth. Really nice vape. Was fiddly getting it to work though. 1ohm coil keep reading as .58ohm. Once it was wicked and filled it came out as 1.03. No idea what kind of hoo-doo was causing that. I just turned in a circle three times and tossed a bag of organic cotton over my left shoulder. Seriously, it was a tank and a half before I could stop checking the ohms every time I hit the fire button.

Just ordered 2 more. And some replacement caps. And some more cotton.

I think the threading on the bases (sxk, sjmy) are the same, it’s the threading on the PC vs Acrylic that make the difference.

IMO, the “cloudy” acrylic tanks are WAY easier to get on and off, and just perform better.
Well, now you're gonna make me check when I get a chance, SK. I was pretty sure the tanks weren't interchangeable based on posts here - and the SJMY seems more coarse, fewer threads per inch. But then, I've never actually tried it, just what it felt like. If so, I'll be able to use my clear spares on my SJMY.

@Brewdawg1181 I definitely use the acrylic tanks on a sxk base. They are stress free!!!

I think I’ll order a 2k18 at some point too, even though I can refill the 2k16 with my eyes closed (not literally).

I’ve just been so happy with the doggy on a pico, I don’t really WANT to buy anything else.

What's smaller, the Pico or the Swag? I have a Swag and I love my Doggy on it. It's like they were made for eachother.

How wide of a tank will the Pico hold? I don't think the Swag could fit anything over 22.5mm.

Very close in size, but the big difference is in the weight. Swags considerably lighter (materials).

Similar challenges in the tank size. The battery cap thing and all.

22 works for me though, so I'm fine with both/either.

Pico 75w is slightly smaller in width and depth than the swag - but I'm talking only mm's. I got a 24mm zenith tank onto my pico 75w- but had to take the tank off to change the battery. Probably not recommended ;)

Great Little Mods... I'm still waiting for my 2K18 Doggy. It's been in the US since the 22nd

Another wicking question for you doggy pros ;)

What sort of trim do you use for the doggy? I do a bowtie like in the pic below (courtesy of Google). Is there a better way?

As others have said, and do, I just cut it and stuff it. There's absolutely no need to get any fancier than that with this tank, in my opinion. :)

Yeah, with this tank, as long as it touches the deck, it'll wick just fine. Trimming at all is probably unnecessary. I've made it just touch the deck, and used length enough to wrap it around the post underneath the platform, and no difference. Now if you use a 4mm id coil somehow, and have so much wick the channels choke it, well....that's a different story. Maybe.

I think if you vape at low watts and stuff the channels you will get potential bleed through as you are not vaping enough to efficiently use up (and more importantly move up) all the stored juice in the wick length. From my experience at least, since I started trimming the tails to fit the channels snugly (with no stuffing required at all - it just drops into place) my wick tails remain ultra clear (fresh juice coloured only) and any bleed through issues are long gone (I use to get bleedthrough a lot, especially with NET's).

That's been my experience with it recently anyway.

I agree with the advice but you just can't mess up the dog man. I was accidentally vaping one of mine at 60 watts for... a while. LOL I just happened to notice, too, the wick (rayon to be fair) didn't burn at ALL or anything.

Besides my first one, well, I have like no complaints. I am going to get the new one though, soon. Maybe my next pay period.

I agree on this, especially with rayon

That's a great build to handle 60 watts. I think the highest I tried was 30....

LOL I am fairly certain it wasn't my build. Although I guess, to be fair, it was a coil I made sure to raise off the deck as much as possible when folks were saying they were getting early and substantial juice color changes and that was offered as a possible solution.

So... maybe try it if you haven't yet?

Thanks for all the wicking tips. I'm so fussy/ocd about wicking - be glad when my top fill doggy turns up so I don't have to see the deck every refill ;)

With cotton I just stuff and vape it - with rayon I'm a lot more finnicky. Anyway all your tips helped a lot :thumb:
