I recently dropped my t priv in a hot tub. There was no rice available for 12 hours after I dropped it. I kept it in rice for a day then took the casing off and dried it out with a hair dryer. Everything works except the side watt changing buttons and was wondering if anyone knows how it could be fixed and if not how I could get warranty if I can't find my smok warranty card that came with the kit. I also live in a rural town in Canada, I bought the kit from the shop there. Thanks.

find some alcohol ( 190 proof or better or 90% isopropyl ) immerse the mod in it and let drain, dry gently with a blow dryer on low heat... water mixes with the alcohol and is removed when the alcohol drains out, low heat and a breeze will evaporate the alcohol leaving it 99% water free... worked for me on my IPV3 when it took a dive into a pool...

The problem with electronics and water is that they cause short circuits and it fries the components on the board.

You could technically take an unpowered device, soak it in water, and if you let it all dry out before applying batteries it will work.

The rice thing only dries out the device it prevents corrosion and rust, and will dry it out so it doesn't short in the future. It doesn't fix damage already caused by shorts.

Without the warranty card, your best shot is to go to the shop and ask if they can help.

Well, I like rice... For eating. I'd second the suggestion to take it to the shop you bought it and see what they can do, some shops keep your info on file and may be able to tell you if it's under warranty. I might ask about that *first* before saying I took it hot tubbing (don't get me wrong, I would probably take a mod into a hottub in a heartbeat), if your warranty is over, they may be able to send it in for repairs that might be less costly than a whole new mod?

Good luck, hope everything works out.

LOL, Hot Tub? no worries!
My mod goes with me into the shower every day and always comes to the beach.
But it's a REO, so dropping it in the sink with some hot water and soap is actually part of the maintenance routine.
Still working like the day I got it...over 800 days ago.

OP: Congratulations for the new device! Disposable mods are disposable.

cheers

You should have left it at least 24 hours. That gives the Chinese Rice Fairy time to come collect some of the rice to cook for her Fairyettes. In exchange for your gift, she fixes whatever electronic device was placed in it.
