Finally slotted my gt2 base. I used 2 stacked cut wheel discs. Probably didn't need to use 2, but using 2 didn't hurt anything.

Took about 2 minutes total. :) so very easy. The base is a lot thicker than I expected it to be, by the time I got down passed the holes, the width of the slot was wider than I expected, again didn't hurt anything (I don't think) and the afc ring covers the "ugly"

And the results are......?

This is my 4th one that I did, I'd like to think that I'm getting better at it. Looks close enough to the same to me.

The results are good. It absolutely is a more open draw... I guess I was expecting to go from 6 to 16.... It was more like from 6 to 8 or 9. If I damaged my base, I would have been upset. If it was hard, I would have been upset. It literally took me longer to find my little suction clamp vise and my cutting wheel dremel kit. The cutting took about 1 minute each side. Super super easy. :)

Thank you @dwcraig1 for posting it, honestly I would never had done it without your posts. :)

With my wick slots enlarged from the 2 mm area to 3.2 and using a 2.5 mm id coil I generally run mine at 27 - 28 watts though it seems to able to handle as high as 35 watts. Stock was 20 - 22 watts. Using 50/50 5mg juice.
I use a diamond dust bit for cleaning up the edges of the cut from the wheel and for enlarging the slots in the sliding sleeve.

I routinely build 2.5mm or 3mm Coils in mine and I'm using the gt1 chamber. I never had a wicking issue, if anything it was a gurgle (overwicking) issue. The new base with the seal raised airflow tube solved that. I favored my Taifun GT over my kayfun's before, then couldn't get passed the gurgle so I used my kayfun's for a while, then my squape Reloaded, now I'm favoring the taifun gt2 again and keeping the squape Reloaded in rotation. Haven't built a kayfun in quite a while. Sold off 1 KFL and a Russian collecting dust, still have 1 KFL v2 and a 3.1...need to sell those next ;) but I'm a vape hoarder. Never want to sell anything.... :(

Speaking of that, are the hot cig TGT2's still the good buy from FT?

The last order we made was for those bases and truth be told they work great. But I'd like to still get a another whole kit just because I like the window sleeve and the drip tip, and just because. Figured I'd ask again just to make sure. And as far as stainless tanks go it's just the old v1 style that says Taifun GT on it as far as I know, unless something has changed?

The Hotcig TGT II is on par with the original, it has a removable deck as well. It has the thin glass sleeves and comes with an extra one. O-ring kit also included all in a nice little zip up case.
Take a look at how the screw fits the sleeve in this picture, the Hotcig model is far different using screws with larger heads with thicker walled sleeves.

Not that big of a deal maybe but one of many small differences.

The only thing I found disappointing with the Taifun GT is the wasted tank space which doesn't allow for one to fill the tank completely with juice.

Using the straw method alleviates that flaw.

Take a round cocktail straw and cut it down one edge about half way.

Insert the straw in the chimney tube and invert the tank. I'm using the Steam Tuner tank for better viewing but it works with the standard tank.

I suspect it would work with other tanks of similar fill methods like the Ubertoot.

Before filling, do a dry run to make sure the straw doesn't stick out too far. It should just hit the coil inside the evaporator chamber, while at the same time allowing the threads on the base to catch the threads on the tank.

Fill just to the top of the straw.

Screw the base on while still upside down then invert.

Remove the straw. There may be a bit of juice in the chimney. Turn upside-down and blow out blowing through the air intake.

Wipe any droplets in the 510 drip tip socket, install drip tip and vape.

I've heard of people using a qtip or cotton swab to fill that way too. Here's my question, does it effect the vacuum or cause leaking.

I don't believe the TGT is as reliant on the vacuum effect as is a Kayfun. Juice is always in direct contact with the wick, whereas in a KF, juice must travel upward to the wick relying solely on the vacuum effect.

As you may notice in the picture, there is still an air bubble.

I have had no leaks, gurgles, flooding or dry hits. Just extra time between refills.
