Slotted? Explain please
I thought you slotted the 5 air intake holes of each side on one of yours...no?

I didn't have a TGT II that is stock so I bought another one and will compare the difference in flow between stock and slotted. The difference will be measured as a percentage.

Oh air slots... Yes I slotted mine (thanks to you for the inspiration). For some reason my mind went to the chamber slots? LOL.

I personally feel the slotting increased airflow slightly, but not a night and day difference. But a worthy improvement for the couple of minutes it took. ;)

But of coarse the chamber slots on mine are larger too (Dremel).
I'll be doing the same treatment to the next one after I do a comparison between them. (Plan to anyway)

The one Taifun I dremel-slotted does have somewhat increased air flow, but not enough to really turn it into a direct-lung cloud chucker. So far, the rest of my bell-capped Taifun GT V2s remain unaltered, with their stock air holes, since I like them as my mouth-to-lung max-flavor tanks. Slotting the air intakes is so easy, however, that it won't take much more than a whim to make me go ahead and modify the others at some point.

Please tell me why one enlarges the chamber slots?

This is the sliding sleeve/chamber for a TGT 1 but I will use this to explain, the distance across the slots on this one is around 2 mm while the optional one is 3.2 mm. Bigger wick/coil translates to higher wattage possible.

So really this only needs to be done for the TGT 2 right?

It certainly would be feasible with the GT I but without the added air flow that The TGT II has to offer the end results would not be the same.
I've done it with my TGT-S which has a 2 mm air path. it works good but not as robust as my TGT II's
You can run a thick wick right up to the inside wall of the chamber and have the ends pressing against the wick slots but letting a small amount of wick go through the slots to help keep the ends of the wick in place.
There's some pictures of alternative builds a few pages back.

The goal of enlarging the chamber slots is increased air flow to the coil.

I misread your question. You were referring to the slots on the evaporative chamber, not the modding of the air holes into slots. As dwcraig wrote, increasing the width of the chamber slots allows larger wicks and more juice flow through the wicks to the coil. That alteration serves to increase overall vapor production and keep the coil wetter, which, together with increased air flow from the air-holes-into-slots modification, should allow higher wattage vaping.

Well if anyone cares :) I figured out what I was doing wrong with my Taifun and why it was leaking and why it was shorting.

First , after I rebuilt the wick I had not lifted the chamber high enough so it was letting liquid go right up the center air tube. DOH.

Second the Taifuns center pin is comes in practically retracted in. I had pulled adjusted it out but thought I messed up the connection so I put it back to where it was. Obviously the thread of the connection on the Taifun was making contact with the inside threads of the 510 connection of my GP X, hard short.

So, needless to say, thank goodness I have a very safely designed mod, thank you GP. It has a little spring inside the top contacts so when it shorted it just collapsed and did not let the thing blow up. WHo says mechs are not safe:)

I love it.

Oh dear AAF, I never would have guessed the chamber part, lol

I never touched the 510, it is slightly recessed, but it makes contact with everything I've used it on (never tried it on the Paps, so there ya go, something else I could not have foretold, lol).

That chamber only comes out when you intend it too, it has a very clear stopping point when raising it up, so definitely be a little more forceful in the future.

I did have a feeling it would be something small or silly though, the GT2 is just too rock solid for it to be acting up on you like it was ;)

Glad to hear it's all sorted AAF, now you can enjoy its fruitful bounty of the Taifun!!!

Good evening Taifun people.

My Taifun just arrived from FT (thanks for your recommendation, @billherbst ), so I'll be picking your collective brain here from now on.

First I need to give my Taifun a nice bath and then try to put it together. I got a base with chimney, an acrylic bell cap, a nano tube, and an ss cap for the tube.

Great thread, BTW! I've been lurking.

Yeah, it does have a very noticible sound or feel, but my hands are bad, plus it being the second build, I probably forgot the little detail of pulling it back up.

Maybe I adjusted the contact even more retracted when I thought I had adjusted it back down. It worked on the X before.

Like I said, thank goodness I get devices designed to be safe.

ITs really , really nice.

One problem now. I was planning on using it on my P3 and the taifun wont screw in :( I thought Id seen Taifuns and Provaris together.

Whoa, that's crazy, I've not seen that, but I can't specifically recall a Taifun on a Provari *shrug*
