Just so everyone knows, the "anemic" remark was not intended as a slight in any way. I just couldn't think of a better word to describe it at the time:ohmy:

How about the word, "puny" ?

adjective, punier, puniest.
1.
of less than normal size and strength; weak.
2.
unimportant; insignificant; petty or minor:
a puny excuse.
3.
Obsolete. puisne.

I used to stuff those wells but dont know if it was just in my mind, but seemed like I could taste cotton. Plus Im a bit of a miser, Seemed like a whole lot of cotton, and when I changed wicks, seemed to waste a lot of good liquid.

I love my GT2, but also found that it needed a whole lot of cotton. I did the wicks inside the chamber , tucked into sort of a roll like in that video I posted a while ago. Also seemed like I tasted cotton.

These days my GT2's are in dripper mode. I have a feeling that the GS2 and the GSL were designed with such deep wells in mind that when they are being used in dripper mode they would hold more liquid without leackage. To this day Ive been enjoying the GS2 and GSL so much , I cant seem to take them out of rotation to try as drippers, even though I have drip kits for both the GS2 and GSL.

I love tanks and honestly, at least with my palette or tastebuds, I dont notice any difference in taste or performance in liquids from a good rta like the Taifuns or Flash-e-Vapors, or my GUS Phenoms from drippers these days. Like I say, maybe its me, but if it werent for my gross NETS , I would not have a need for RDAs. I have 3 (including my TFGT2) rda's in daily rotation, plus one of my GS2's dedicated to NET tobaccos.

Those deep wells in the GS2 do nothing useful. You can fill the wells with cotton or rayon or make a roll of your wick, but that just wastes juice and allows the juice to siphon down from the wick. You need to hold the wick lightly between the end of your mesh straw (or PTFE tube) and a stable support like the post screw or the bottom of the well or a wad of foil. I used the foil in the pic for six months now it's worked with no flooding or dry hits. Just re-wicked last night and it's still good.

Here is how I do my GSL. WOrks great, only different thing I do now , is that I do a 2.9mm coil instead of what is in the photo (2.4) I also trim the wicks a bit so that when I put the section that goes on top , I can tuck the wicks right on top of the screws and just a tad down against the walls.

I hope others post their GSL set ups.

I set up my slimmer GS2 the basic way as shown in most how to's .

Do you still use the mesh tubes (or ptfe tubes)? Or does the wicking just lay between the screw tops and the holes in the feed cap?

I posted a build last Sept. for my GS2-22 using aluminum foil to fill the deep juice wells. Taifun GT Discusion! If this "permalink" doesn't work, it was post #3566.
I remember seeing the foil, I usually just stuff the reservoirs with more cotton, but same basic concept and I use mesh rolled tubes.

I used mesh straws that came down right on the rim of the chamber. Had to screw on the cap with the feed holes and then drop the straws down on the end of the wick. Now I'm thinking that instead of mesh straws, a piece of twisted wire could work. I'll have to try that tomorrow after I finish my taxes.

Those crazy Filipinos... :D

Points for the top fill though.

Better have your wicking just right or its going to be more of a dump than a fill. Even then its going to be iffy, Taifun style filling has always been a favorite, quick easy, minimizes chance for leaking.

I agree with you on the Taifun filling, for sure. My Lemo V2 I still have to take off my mod to side fill as too much of a chance that things go wrong and it leaks out the airflow control. Only my Cthulhu V2 ( I use the single coil deck) is a reliable leave it on my mod and top fill RTA.

I'm about to get some o-rings to stock up for my Taifun GT-2-S (the Airflow adjustment ring o-ring broke so had to replace it) . What type of material should I be looking at, Just plain old "Silicone" o-rings, or another fancier material (I want to get replacements for ALL the o-rings to have on hand for not only this RTA but all my other RTA's) ? I have already been to the O-ring Store and been looking around, I have read pages 130 up to 135 of this thread but saw no mention of the o-ring material to use, but I do know the sizes to get.

Buna is the type that most come with especially black ones. Nitrile is buna just a brand name. The clear and colored ones are silicone. All will work in this application.
Note the "dura" number, it refers to how hard or soft the material is.
I use buna generally. (I'm cheap)
Edit: Correction on Viton, nope meant to say Nitrile.

Thank You Both. I went thru and looked at the "Material Chart" and "O-ring Temperature Chart" on the "O-ring Store" early in the AM this morning and almost went with Silicone just to be done with it, I can't keep things straight in my head like I used to. So "Buna" for the type then, Thanks dw. I'm on page #94 right now, but will keep reading until I find the "dura number" so I can get those ordered from somewhere, Thanks chanel. You two are "Golden".
