If you like cotton in the Taifun, try hemp fiber, it's much better at wicking and a bit stronger then cotton.
This effect is magnetized by using a 1.5mm ID vertical coil directly over the air hole, and loosely wrapping the hemp around the coil, filling the base up to the hight of the coil, and pulling some of the hemp fiber slightly through the 2 channels.

Ok, I'll give cotton a try then. I assume you guys are building your coils and then threading the cotton through it. Is that correct? Any tips you guys would care to share or any links that I could hit up to help me along the way?

I've never used cotton in anything. Actually I've only been using rebuildables for less than a week so if you get right down to it I don't know much about anything and my coils/wicks are pretty awful. I've yet to build one that's better than what I can get out of an IBTanked with a smok 2.0 ohm carto.

I do enjoy learning though and I figure if I keep at it I'll develop enough skill that I'll be able to "tune" my vape just the way I want it. I could just be very, very wrong though. Wouldn't be the first time it's happened.

What size coil are you guys using with your cotton? Bigger coil = bigger wick = no leaking?

Start with a tightly wrapped micro coil, or even slightly larger (1/16" - 5/64"). Mount the coil, fire the coil several times (1 second). Thread cotton (ball or bulk cotton) through thread. Not too tight, not loose. Make the length long enough to extend outside the walls. The extra I double back on top (after juicing), but not enough to touch the coil on either side. Complete assembly, fill and ready to go. I prefer coils less than 1.5 ohms, generally between 1.1 and 1.4 ohms, 28 or 29 gauge kanthal. No cartomizer will compare with this and many other setups. I did the carto tank vaping for about 8 months and have many of the fancy tanks out there (a dozen or more), and there's no comparison to a well prepared cotton wicked micro coil. I vape the micro coils around 12 watts. Fabulous flavor and vapor, throat hit and draw. The Taifun (and the Kayfun) are to the carto tank, what the carto tank is to the clearomizer. In short order I was able to taste the filler in carto tanks (less than a week), and now I can't use them. I didn't want that to happen, but it did, and the significantly better vape of the high-end RTA's is the cause. I also use similar builds in RDA's, and they're even better, depending on build and air flow. Give it a try. There are many builds possible, and half the fun is finding your sweet spot. It's cheap too. Cotton bag lasts, what, forever? Temco kanthal on ebay is about $7.60 shipped (100 lf). Lasts what, forever? A long time anyway. My two cents. YMMV. Good luck!

I haven't tried hemp, but I've had no wicking issues with cotton whatsoever. No flooding, no dry hits. Does hemp have the fabulously clean flavor that cotton has?

I too used cotton, but after trying hemp fiber, it's the only wick I use:

General build quality. It's harder to get the tank screwed on straight because the threads in the plastic tank (whatever kind of plastic it is) aren't as good. So I constantly worry about stripping them out. This is also the one that has really problematic air flow. Sometimes it's great, and sometimes I can barely pull any air through it. I am careful to keep the inner hole clear... it isn't that. I really think something is loose and moving around down inside the deck. I can bang it on its side and suddenly, air will flow again.
It is also harder to get the whole thing together after I fill it. The threads want to kind of slide everything over to the side instead of threading right down onto the chimney.
I just don't think the build is as good.
Oh... it came with no spare parts at all, and the dealer I bought it from evidently can't get any. I god parts with the other t2, and I'm sure some of them will fit. But the tank from the rainbow heaven clone won't screw onto either the hcigar clone or the genuine GT.

Well, I just did my first build on the Taifun GT....I used cotton/microcoil with 28awg Kanthal.....9 wraps @ 1.8 Ohms....It is vaping wonderfully!! I can't believe how easy the Taifun is to build on...I just did a straight cotton wick right thru the coil, and I got ZERO gurgling/leaking thus far! It seems to be wicking very well, so I am psyched!! I will report back as I have more time to vape with it...so far so good though!!

A few hours later and the Taifun GT is still vaping like a beast! Wicking with the cotton is spot on, and I am not getting any dry hits/flooding/gurgling, nothing like that.....I am vaping Boba's in it right now and I LOVE the flavor delivery....might even be better than my KFL+!!

I just had one question: Is the draw in the GT supposed to be tight? I noticed that mine has a rather tight draw....I just ordered a 1.5mm tube from White Fog in the UK (along with extra O-Rings and a stainless steel tank) so maybe that'll help? How hard is it to change out the intake tube?

Easy to change. Several YouTube videos on it. Lotsa folks remove the tube all together. Lotsa folks drill out the air hole. YouTube videos on that too. I'm about to mod mine, but I wanted to make sure I had some backups before I attempt, though it looks straightforward and simple. I too ordered 1.5 mm tubes from White Fog. Be here next week. If that does the trick, great. If not, I will mod it out. I need more air flow, but it's not a bad vape now, just not "perfect" for me yet. More air, more vapor, more flavor, so it's a no brainer.

Yep, I hear ya...I think I will try the 1.5mm tube first, then if that does not do it then it's drill time!! I am a little reluctant to mod it just yet, but we'll see......it is a bit tight for my liking right now, so something's gotta change...
