Done, I put the same coils back, not quite the same.

So I'm kinda stumped with my FT tai fun GT. It shorts out when if it's screwed on the top of my mech mod. And I tighten the adjustable positive pin on my mech top cap. If I tighten it a little more tighter it causes a short. If I loose screw the pin till I feel a little resistance and stop, there's no short. How weird is that? Anyone else encountered this?

Over-tightening an atty on the mod is an extremely common problem, and often results in a connection problem. What is going on with your situation exactly requires additional information and photos to diagnose, but it's not surprising in the least. The adjustable pin on my taifun is adjusted on a weekly basis in my usage, or I get connection problems from time to time with my Provari. I get other connection problems on my wife's device when she increases the voltage too high and causes an amp overload too. Otherwise, it's a pretty solid situation and very manageable. I have four Taifun's, and they are my go to devices these days.

My biggest problem is that I've wiped out three of the half metal/ half plastic tops due to drops. I am now using just a clear plastic top and have no more problems. Good luck!

To everyone with ft Taifun gts that short when you tighten them down, the fastest and easiest fix is to take out the pos screw, spring, and plastic and replace it with the insulator from a protank head. Its a weird fit and you lose the adjustment ability to some degree but with some trimming it works perfectly and you don't have to take it all apart. Mech users will probably benefit the most because of floating 510.

my brother-in-law auto-fired my taifun gt for god knows how long the other weekend. had to put the whole thing in the freezer because it was so hot.

my taifun has a short in it somewhere. no idea where

I'm going to guess its the thin insulator that seperates the deck and the positive deck inside. I had the same problem and posted a fix. I will have to find it and give a link. It's a fairly simple fix.

Yes, it's between the brass and SS deck. I'm not sure if it's this thread or another thread but i will try and find it and post the fix. The insulator is paper thin and the brass piece shorts to the deck. I'm on my phone but will attempt to find and post pics and the fix.

don't rush. i still have 2 taifuns in heavy rotation. the third was nice to have an extra flavor in, but one of my hana modz was sent back to the company. only thing that would fire on it was the taifun. its the device i use most of the time, but spending that much on a mod, i should be able to use any of my atomizers with no issue. hopefully they'll remedy that for me

OK everyone I found the thread that I posted my fix on. Since the fix I haven't had any problems with shorting. Thing has been great.

Hope this helps everyone that is having problems. I got everything at a local hardware store but you should be able to find everything or similar at the big box stores also. If anyone has any questions or needs better directions just let me know and I will try to explain it better. Happy Vaping! :vapor:

I've changed two of the plastic tanks that come standard on the Taifun clone so far. I used the Hcigar brand replacement tanks ($5) from EVcigs. At first glance one would think that they are the same size so there would be no way that one would go into the other but that is not the case. I do bevel the edge of the plastic tank a little so to get it started straight and then a few light taps with a plastic headed mallet drive it right on.
Oh and to get it apart you boil the two pieces and when it cools grab the plastic with pliers and kind of rock it off alternating on which side of the tank your pulling on. And don't be putting them pliers on the metal part.
At first it looks like it isn't coming apart or going to go together but it does and is really easy..at least after the first time.

Here's a link for the tank

I finally got my gt n stainless tank i have a 4 wick prebiult coil at 3ohms on the new vamo v5 and it is the best vape so far using gravity in it amazing looks like a bat of stainless but hits so smooth n is awesome loven it. I am pleased i did give it a good vodka bath as it smelled like machine oil but worth it. It will fit better on my maraxus clone. I will try it on that next. It does not hit so well at 3 ohms on my maraxus clone looks good though.

I just finish re-wicking my TGT with the 3mm braided silica that FastTech pedals. I didn't order any of this for quite awhile because I thought it was going to be "big" like 3mm Ecowool but it is the same size as regular 3mm twisted silica. Seems to work just fine. It's certainly a good price.

The base should be press fitted but with all the parts and insulators in place. I did disassemble mine ft clone and wasn't to carefully when assembling it. Damaged the base and the 510.

Tina14,my advice is to pay a visit to someone that knows what he is doing.

Or study this schemes from a ft trea

So just one 3mm silica and no leaking/flooding issues? I would think that 3mm silica would be close to the same as the 2.5mm ecowool because they size it by ID not OD.

Akuser47, thanks for the suggestion. I'll have that in mind next time my GT floods, as long as I'll be able to make it work again! :)

Slavkov, thanks for the diagrams! How did you manage to assemble yours? No matter how hard I press it, I can't make the deck fit back into the base.
