Nice job on the mesh straws, TD! I like the way you folded the edges to get a smooth rim.
About the posts, if they are similar to the GT2-S Hotcig clone, you can unscrew both posts and then the 510 screw like this guy does:
That is just a little curl at the top, kind of ended up looking like it was folded. :)
Thanks for the video, I'll have to see if this one does the same thing when I take the 30g build out.

It is a great little rta, mine was weeping out the bottom air holes when I went up stairs to visit a friend just now. Definitely a wick issue, I put some dm Ball Viskose (Rayon) in there and probably should have stuck with Japanese cotton.

Some new devices have a really big wow factor. Like when I picked up the FeV V3, this one not as much. I am going to try cutting a cotton pad from Japanese cotton and see how that works but I think that is for the dripper mode.

Almost forgot, here is another Taifun contender! Hurricane clone from Kanvape, a little over $18 shipped (less $$$ then FT)! More Airflow then the GT II, I find it easier/quicker to build/wick, very TC friendly, flavor seems a bit more intense then my GT II. build quality is quite nice on the Tobeco version, better then the one FT sells. Steel tank is from FT version, Tobeco only includes plastic.

The posts look to be gold plated, not sure whats under that gold, but even the inside threads appear to fairly well plated, not 100% on that, but it doesn't look brass to me. The Shenray GSL will probably be pretty nice, they did a decent job on the other GS clones, I'll probably order one later tonight, it does look pretty nice.

The price I quoted is using the typical "25% off all Tobeco products using code TOBECO25" I think that has been going now for a couple months. That code is currently listed as good through 9/13

Here is the other current codes, Some pretty fair bargains in the clearance section.

  • 40% OFF CLEARANCE PRODUCTS USING CODE 40CLEARANCE THROUGH 9/8
  • 22% OFF ENTIRE ORDER USING CODE 22LABORDAY THROUGH 9/13
  • 20% OFF NEW ARIVALS USING CODE NEW20 THROUGH 9/19
  • 25% off all Tobeco products using code TOBECO25

If they're gold plated I would definitely like to try one. The authentic is gold plated. The FT clones had brass so I said, hmm, no. I don't trust the lead content. Thanks for the coupon codes :). Wish it had the SS tank as well. Not sure I want to add a FT clone just for the tank, but I'll consider it.

Not sure yet on the GSL. For some reason I'm getting much better flavor from my little GS2 than the big one. I'm thinking right now my big one might benefit from dual coils, or maybe a Clapton.

The Hurricane shipped already.

That is one thing I really like about Kanvape, every time I order it has always shipped same day, and unlike many places I order from, it actually does ship, not just label printed. My last order was placed on a Wed, and I got it Friday.

It is also nice that they even beat China prices on Tobeco products.

Does anyone know where I can get the stainless and plexi tanks for Taifun GT 1? I cant seem to find the genuine parts anywhere. If anyone knows which of the clones are compatible/ no leaks, is the best one?

I checked Gear best and Fastech and they dont have just the ss and Plexi parts. I hate to buy a whole GT only for the tanks.

There are full poly or full SS on ebay.

I've heard rumours that the GS-II outperforms the GT-II. I find that difficult to believe since the GT-II is an exceptional atty, however I've taken a chance and ordered an authentic Taifun GSL (the 23mm version of the GS) from smokerstore.de. It should arrive soon. Strangely enough when I search for tutorials and reviews of the GSL, I get nada, but it will be exactly the same principle as the GS-II, so I'll be very interested in how it vapes. I'm wondering if the press-fit top cap sits low enough to make contact with the through-coil cotton, and therefore avoid using the PTFE tubes or mess around with mesh straws. If not, no matter, I have a couple of large sheets of 400 mesh.

I also wonder what is the point of a 23mm GS, since Taifun already have their GT range. I guess finding out will be fun. I would imagine it will be a very saturated vape with those 2 holes constantly feeding the wick. Taifun have a track record of excellent atomisers, so I reckon it was worth a shot-in-the-dark purchase!

I think that the GS and the GT2 are equal in taste and performance. Once I got how to set up the GT2 properly, I love it. At first I found the GS2 to be easier to set up and consistent, but after I figured out the wick roll and tuck and kept inside the GT2 I fell in love.

Im waiting on the 23mm GSL. I like the looks of the GSL much better than the GT2. I just dont like the tank on GT2. It just looks so loooooonnng.

I bought a used GT1 just so I could use the tank from it, and I like it visually so much better. Thats why Im on the look out for a Combi tank or the plexi and stainless sections so I can use it on my other GT2.

I hope the GSL is not too airy and the taste is same as the smaller GS.

I like the mesh straws so much better than the plastic. I had seepage when I used the straws, but then again, maybe I had not perfected the right amount of wick and that the plastic tubes need to rest right on the wicks shoulders so it does not leak.

I found a how to video on the GSL. Only difference in build was that the reviewer put a piece of cotton on the bottom of wells, sort of lining it. Then he placed the cotton thru coil and rest is the same as GS2.

Ah yeah. I'm watching it now. My German is a bit rusty though ;)
