All good with the manual then :) I think I'll try mesh next. So far I've vaped 5ml of Digby's Custard on this build and it's not put a foot wrong. Not one gurgle or dry hit. The only problem with the cotton circle method is it's a complete waste of a large area of cotton!
I think I'll try a cotton pad in the GS II and see how it works out. If you wick your coil with Rayon it should drain the cotton pad totally when the tank is dry.

Watching some builds from the German sites on the FeV, Taifun and anything else that uses a mesh wick. They put what looks like steel wool in the core of the mesh feeder wicks. o_O

They must have a different steel wool than we do cause ours rusts. You can't hit the steel wool with a torch either to burn off any foulness. I did that by mistake once when I was younger...

Maybe try the aquarium filter fluff inside the mesh feeder wicks instead then. I don't know, i haven't tried this, just a thought.
Really, it wicks better than anything I have with just the two mesh wicks. I have them just little loose for some air to get down in there for some extra capillary action :) If you have a set of precise screw drivers just start the roll on the smallest one and then you can take it out after a wrap or two and roll until your hearts desire :) Note: I didn't have a manual until today  I eyeballed it and started out with too much mesh. I then unrolled and cut it off several times until it fit into the feeders I then trimmed off a little of the top and it works like a dream. A mesh build on the Taifun GSL is way more forgiving than the build on a Norbert Origen:) I'm thinkin putting stuff in the wicks may or may not break down the already excellent capillary action it has. I think the huge juice well keeps plenty of juice on hand. Maybe some 200 mesh inside the 400. But I really don't think it's needed. I would just shift down to 300 if I wanted more heat. As big as the feeder holes are with the addition of a hefty juice, I think possibly with 200 mesh I may or may not have leaking issues again like the PTFE wicks.

As Roxynoodle said, You can rinse the mesh a ton of times and then just put it back in the holes.

As jhelliwell said, It saves on cutting big circles out of your cotton as well. Even though I would consider it a good starting point IMHO mesh feeder wicks have a ton of positives vs negatives. And as stated before, it wicks better than almost anything I have besides maybe my Velocity or Revolt dripper. I'm running it at 22 watts with my Wakonda and it's begging for more power.

I would love to hear your all thoughts with further experimentation. It's just I have found my happy spot and it far exceeds the power I need as a flavor chaser or if I want to blow a cloud or two and best of all it doesn't take me more than 5-10 minutes to rinse my feeders, re-wick and pop another coil in there. :D I'm speaking from a low maintenance standpoint :)

I fell the need to mention that perhaps the aquarium fluff just might not be all that "up" the high heat, I believe it's a type of polyester. But not sure so just something to consider.
Well I just happen to have a couple boxes of Juwel that I got from Smokerstore a while back and put a flame to a small piece, burns and smells like plastic.

I don't put anything in the holes. I make sure I have enough cotton in the wick to make big shoulders. Then I push the cap on and push the cotton up into the holes from the bottom with a small screwdriver. I've had zero leakage issues this way and phenomenal performance. Looking for a gsl so if anyone throws in the towel hit me up. lol

Are you all torching your mesh straws? I am, think I saw it in the GS manual or a how to on YTube
Yep I do and your right. I'm in several genny groups and they all torch. It only takes a second at 3000 degrees and I don't think it hurts the mesh to much either :p But with that being said Kanthal isn't wrapped around the mesh like a genny. BTW, If your interested, I torch my mesh after I roll it to the correct size. Some torch it before, but I feel it holds it's form better after a good torch :)
I think it was advised in case the mesh makes any contact with the stainless steel tank inside or the chimney.
I have been doing it since, because Im scared of shorts. :) Im glad to hear its not necessary. The torching leaves a taste that eventually wears off.

I have a actual torch I use and it did leave a taste for 2 tanks after that it's humming like a bird :D Smart lady there :D ^^

But hey if you don't want to it's your atomizer not mine :D

I torch it after I roll it. I too find that it holds it shape really well. I figure I could rinse it or dip it in light soap, but Im usually to anxious to use it :)

I think Im going to make up a few straws and will clean them and keep them in a little baggie for future use and not having to waste time :) I kinda like torching things, maybe theres a tiny "fire bug" in me. I love flames and the colours one sees in their dance. Its something Ive wanted to photograph but kinda get scared because I dont want accidents in my home .

After a half dozen tankfuls, my GS2 started to leak. I saw that the problem was that my rayon wick eventually settled lower in the deep juice wells. That created a space between the bottom of the PTFE tube and the wick and flooded the well. I concluded that I really didn't need such a deep well and so much wick. So I filled the wells with some aluminum foil and trimmed the wick much shorter. So far so good with the first tankful. The GS2 gives a moist flavorful vape with plenty of air and I haven't used any other atty all week.

While pictures would be nice, sorry not this time. Here is a brief description of how I set up my GS'. I install the coil at an angle like the Kayfun manual says, this makes for super short legs. The rayon wick drops down to the well and it's tails ends on the other side of the well. My mesh straws are the same diameter (approx) inside and out as the supplied PFTE ones and are long enough to reach the bottom of the well and sit in the end of the wick's tail.
This has been working really well for me. Got to make sure the end of the straw is touching the wick good or some leakage may occur.
