I have been vaping around 3 months now. I started with standard eGo pens and kranger tanks and now I'm using an mpv2 and nautilus tank. I really want to start dripping but have been overwhelmed with that cause my friend tells me to use one mod one day and another the next. I have some knowledge on a few things but that does me no justice. What I'm looking for is basically that exact same thing as when I started. What is the eGo of mech mods? I plan on a mutation x rda, if that matters

Well, it used to mean that dripping (subohm) implied using a mech mod, but it doesn't today. Several current regulated devices, with VV/W, are capable of running the builds you'd prolly like to use with the mutation RDA.
If you're really looking for the ego equivalent, I'd say you might want to consider the DNA family of products. The Vapour Shark rDNA30 or 40, for example, would give you enough power to go well into subohms (if you wanted) plus the protection and power control of a regulated device.

If I were you, I'd get a "popular clone" to see how it goes, and start figuring out what's worth paying more for.

I was looking at the stingray my shop has but someone convinced me out of it because it was a clone and has problem with the switch getting stuck
While many seem to hate it, I personally use and like the magneto. So far it's been working like a champ for me.
Nemesis and stingray, are two great starter mechs, but really any will do. Its up to your preference on how it feels in your hand, how easy it is to use the locking ring and how the switch feels. If you are looking to get the most performance possible out of your mech, get it in copper. if you just want it to look cool and be low maintenance, probably your standard SS will work.
If you want to get the best vape of your life, I would pick up a regulated box mod like the iPV2 or 3 and wrap some dual coils at 1.5 ohm and vape away. I get better clouds out of this set up than my .2ohm on a copper panzer.
If you are not 100% sold on the mutation X I would look at a 4 post rda like the plume veil or the CTL rda. They will be much easier to work on and both have a lot of airflow. ( 3 posts are just as good but a little more tricky. hey if I could learn on a 3 post so can you!)

Buy a copper stingray clone from infinite, hCigar, or sxk or any of the "better" cloners. Then get a fattdaddy vapes magnet and contact upgrade and you will have a fantastic mech for very little money.
if you're a beginner and dont know much about how wattage/volts/ohms interact, id suggest just getting a more powerful VV/VW mod than the mvp2 you currently have. What you currently have technically is a mod, it seems like you are misinformed into thinking mech mods are the next step if you want to get into dripping or rebuildables which it isnt. Mech mods you technically have to 'fiddle' more with to get what you want, while VV/VW mods are more convenient and take less fiddling, which I think is what you're asking then I agree with papa lazarou that a DNA30/DNA40 device is what you should get.

With a mech, once you install a coil you're adjustments to power are done. With a variable device you have the ability to adjust the voltage also. Being able to adjust both power variables instead of only one of them allows for much, much more tune-ability. Mechs were the only way to achieve high power in the past. Now they aren't. High power and adjustability are possible now. Build and install coil(s) then adjust the power you supply to them to get the result you want. Big power variable mods combined with well setup atomizers can do things mechs just can't.
Very good point and I largely agree. High power vaping has not been the sole province of mechs for a while now. However, I think it's a good idea for a serious to have a good mech as a doomsday backup.
Nothing can touch a mech for reliability not even the "almighty" (read: obsolete) Provari.
All the whiz bang features on the world mean nothing if your mod simply does not work.
Full disclosure - I am a long time mech user but rarely touch them anymore since I got my first "high power" regulated mod this June.
I agree with both post. Get a good mech mod as a backup for a high powered mod.
It's better to cry once and have them, then to go broke replacing.
I have the Sigelei 100w Plus and I will never use that much power but it's nice to know that I do have it when things upgrade in the future.

A few things...
If you're new to dripping and rebuilding then a dedicated dual-coil setup might be frustrating to learn on. My honest suggestion would be to get an EHPro Atomic clone to start your rebuildable experience with. They can be found all over the place for a low price. As well, it's a three-post setup with a small chamber and the option to use dual or single airholes of different sizes. In other words, you can single coil it as you're learning and still get excellent flavor, but you can open the other airhole up and pop in a dual coil build when you're up to the task and ready to blast yourself with vapor.
As I said, it's a smaller RDA (19mm diameter), so it might look strange to you if you really like rdas that are exactly as wide as the mod they're on, but that also forces you to learn to build small and tidy setups (which is a good skill to have). Perfect beginner's rda, imho.
As for your mod, I too would point you in the direction of a more powerful variable device before a mech, but that's just cause they're so easy. Newer devices can fire muuuch lower resistances than your mvp, so a mech isn't necessary any more to have fun with rdas and it makes learning to build a lot easier since you can wrap a crap-ish coil and immediately see that it's not the resistance you were shooting for... but then just crank it up or down to accommodate and vape anyway. There's a ton of stuff out that fits the bill, so I'll just say happy hunting (though I do love my Sigelei 50w box, and I think they just announced the 50+...).
