When I first was interested in vaping, I visited a local B&M here in NY. I tried to ask about vaping, and the owner basically acted like I was an informant or something. She watched me struggle to remember what goes into eliquid before she said my remarks "opened up the door" for her to be able to describe what VG and PG are. The whole conversation was like two lawyers talking.
When I asked for a suggestion on a device, she basically said that she only carries what her customers ask for, and that these were the items. Couldn't tell me what eliquid to use as a cigar substitute. Basically couldn't tell me anything. I ended up buying an overpriced AIO and this "vanilla tobacco" eliquid that did not work for me at all.
I don't know, I think back on it and imagine she must have been hassled a lot legally, but it seems like if you can't even say what VG and PG is or help someone get off tobacco, then for me, I wouldn't even open up a store.
Thankfully I found the ECF and other online resources. Without which I would be completely lost and stuck on AIO land with "vanilla tobacco." I'm sorry for people who are stuck with B&M and hope they have a better experience. As for me, I'm stocked up and may visit another B&M one day for the novelty of it.
Overall I'm depressed by the vaping scene in my part of NY. I've seen maybe one person vape in 2020. Just a bunch of cigarette smokers. No offense to cigarette smokers. Not their fault to be fed misinformation. I just think that NY couldn't care less about their health. I hope they get better experiences at vape shops than I have.
