So this morning I'm cleaning my tanks and I happen to see this white ring around the bottom at the 0ml line. I wanna say it's the glue or whatever Halo uses to stick the tank to the metal threading. Have any of you seen this before? I'm going to toss it, I think it's what is giving me a sore throat :-(

Is the white ring solid, like dried glue? Looked at my tanks, and don't see what you have.
If you stop using it, and the throat thing goes away, it might be cause and effect. Better safe than sorry.

Funny how I wasn't concerned enough about the 92 known carcinogens in analogs to stop me for years!!!!!

Don't toss it, BigBen is working a project, and last I heard, he would like it. He's doing something with glass...

now that we are on topic, can you guys share some wisdom on tank cleaning?

I've been trying to get this darn midnight apple smell/taste from a tank to no avail! same goes for the wicks!

apparently the cheapest bulkest denture cleaner you can find is good. I'm just soaking some gunky coils in it, but haven't
seen how well it has performed yet.

put the tank in, and separate the coil into its parts, so you have the sleeve, end cap, flavour wick, and head with coil wick attached.
soak for a few hours, then let dry dry.
then this next part is up to you, you might be able to, if you're lucky, slide the coil wick through
the coil about half an inch, and then clean the gunky part again, then when it's dry, slide it back. maybe let it sit on a new part of the
wick. to slide the wick through the coil, it has to be clean and dry, you can twist the wick tighter, that might help. It's easy to damage
your coil, so make sure you have plenty of spares Justin Case.

So Cal
None of those methods work for voodoo...man that stuff is STRONG! I put some boba's bounty in what I thought was a clean mini tank - it was washed carefully as always and didn't smell. For a while I thought BB was a knockoff of Voodoo, until I realized what had happened....LOL Guess I'll go to a new tank that I can change the wick in:oops:

Here is what I do.......

1. Rinse tanks under hot water from the faucet, empty tank, refill. This is just to remove juice and warm everything up.
2. Unscrew everything and soak in hot water for 30 minutes, I just use my Keurig to fill a pyrex 2 cup measuring cup.
3. Rinse under faucet.
4. In the measure cup add more hot water plus a cheap nonflavored denture tablet let it stop fizzing then add your tanks and coils soak for an hour.
5. Rinse under faucet. If I still smell THE juice flavor I repeat step 4. If I no longer smell offensive juice I continue.
6. In the measure cup add more hot water add your rinsed tanks and coils soak for 30 minutes. I just do this because I want to be sure dental tablet is completely removed.
7. Rinse under faucet.
8. Pat dry, give tanks a good shake to remove water then let air dry for 24 hours.

Also I clean separately offensive or strong juice flavors from my light flavored yummy juice tanks. I don't want any cross breeding or the strong one being a bad influence on my good ones.

I usually rinse, then soak in distilled water. If the coil is really gunked, vodka soak. I have to get denture tablets. With experience, I know know which juices gunk it up. I'll try to clean them sooner than later.

This might be strange, but it works for me. Before I put the coil back in, I'll taste the end of the wick. If I taste the old flavor, back it goes for more soaking. Some flavors don't matter, like going to Tiki, or Torque. But don't try this to Belgian Cocoa. It really needs pristine tanks and new coils.

Actually, by doing this, it wets the tips a little, making reinsertion into the tank a bit easier. I'm not concerned with the miniscule amount I might get in my mouth.

I also take the multitester and check the resistance. It would not be good to waste juice if the coil is shot. I have 2 coils that should pull 2.2~2.4, but read over 3.5. These I'll wait til the box of fizzy tablets.

Cleaning tanks is a PITA, but not as much as cleaning tars off the inside of the windshield!

I will give this a try!
well, preferably I wont put any more undesirables in my tanks :)

I found out the hard way about damaging the coil. :( when I put my tank back all I had was snap crackle and pop!

So the resistance can change if the coils are gunked up?

I don't know why. But I'm glad I didn't use those coils. Maybe they would have burned clean, or something with fresh juice? But with the replacement coils on hand, I just put the high resistance ones aside. I'm too lazy (and a bit hung over) to get them out and investigate tonight, but I will soon. I'll get the fizzy tablets, and see what happens.

Now that I have the VV, I can adjust for the coil.

I'm thinking the resistance of the coil, the resistance wire, doesn't change a measurable amount, but the resistance between the coil and the head can change if the point where the coil touches the head gets gunk in it.

I'm also thinking that the multimeter measured resistance is only a guide because the current passing through the head during a resistance test is tiny compared to the current passing through the head during a vape. ie it might measure high, but vape as normal. it might not too, I'm making this all up.

also, you will have good luck for the rest of the year if you send me 1 litre of tribeca on the first full moon of the year. I'm not making that up. it's the truff.

If the coil touches the head, or the tube, it's a shorter circuit, the resistance would go down. These are high, like as if the wire was thinner, or longer. or maybe somehow changed. I'll take a look later.

And let's see, a liter of Tribeca at 17.99 per 30ml (we still get the ecf 10% off) and it'd take 34 bottles to get 1.02 liter, then it's US$612. But free shipping.

I wonder if there's a bulk discount...

one leg of the coil touches the tube, the other leg touches the centre pin. where it touches it's not soldered on, it's just pushed against it with a insulating grommet. where the wire is meant to be touching the tube or the centre pin, oxidation and gunk could create a high resistance joint, where it's meant to be a low resistance joint. A short would be if the wire that touched the centre pin touches the tube before the coil loops.

Of course! If there's gunk preventing a good connection, cause the coil is just touching the other contacts, then that would explain the high readings I'm getting. I wonder if I can just move the center pin in the grommet a little to get a better contact. I saw that rebuild your coil video. I might hafta get some kanthal and wick and try it. But $2.50 for a new head is reasonable, considering the labor saved.

Vaping Tribeca now, with a drop of Turkish, just because...
