Tank Cleaning Question

You can rinse your attys all you want but it doesn't remove the film that juice leaves behind. I do a lot of just rinsing but every so often I break my subtanks and the rba's down to bits and with soap wash them thoroughly. I'm quite surprised how much YUK sits under the peek insulator of the subtank RBA. I have yet to taste soap in any atty I've cleaned. I do qtip and isoprop the grooves before I replace the orings back into my subtanks or any atty.
Drip tip orings get loose(soften from the juice) and don't fit tight in the atty so get some water boiling(no soap), remove from heat and toss the orings in and stir then well and let sit until you can put your fingers in to fish them out. My orings snap back into the atty like new.

DO NOT USE rubbing Alcohol. They put a poison in it so you can't drink it.. I am sure it is not good to vape the residue of that stuff on your gear..

I suppose it depends on your "rubbing alcohol." Isopropanol doesn't need any additives, because it's poisonous on its own already, but it evaporates clean and does not leave any residue. If you've got denatured ethanol it may be a different story, depending on what the bitterant/denaturing agent is that is used.

I am sure you are correct, but I would side on the err of caution when it comes to rubbing alcohol...

I have a related question... How often should I be cleaning these things? I've rarely cleaned any of these tanks on my two mods and two vape pens, and when I do I just rinse it with warm water. Then again they've never seemed very dirty so it didn't feel important at the time. I usually just cleaned it out because I wanted to change to a very different flavor (or in one case I had a bottle of juice that was so gross I never wanted to taste it again EVER).

I clean my tanks whenever I replace the wire, which is normally after 2 or 3 re-wick/dry-burns (which takes 3 - 4 months or more with so many tanks in rotation and using rayon so I get 100 - 200ml per re-wick).

edit to add: I have 2 tanks to wash and re-wire today which were both wired back in January.

I have no clue about this "residue" that you're talking about.. unless you're using liquid that you've bought in the back of a truck, e-liquid is water soluble and washes out completely with just hot water.

But never.. NEVER would I use alcohol or anything as such... should some of it remain, it's something possibly bad just waiting to happen.

For the o-rings.. as long as it's a silicone one (heat makes them return to their original shape, works for skins too).. rubber ones would break down instead.... but as it's supposed to always be silicone one, it should not be a concern, but in case someone had such (rubber), this should be a note that they should replace them.

When I receive a new atomizer I take it completely apart, soak it in hot soapy water, and I may put it through a few UC cycles. After that, I rinse out my tanks with just hot water when I re-wick them every other day or so, I take apart just the major pieces, and use paper towels to dry them off and clean out any lingering residue.
