My friend Bkiller... how are you today? Here to see that I fill in the proverbial "sin of omission" hole here as well? No worries. ;-)thats alot of words just to say "Its Magic".... great explanation State![]()
now you need to explain that you dont need to put the finger on the bottom air hole of the KF since the chimney is still open![]()
As you've already well experienced, "a lot of words" are my stock in trade. Forums are such great places for waxing eloquent - or in my case, just waxing - so, why use 2 words, when I can use 900 or so? Thanks for the excuse.
I actually do have a bit of practical justification to continue putting my finger over a kayfun design atty air hole - in that if any juice does want to drain out, I can control when that will occur... until I have the atty filled, the cap back on and if need be, paper towel in hand.

Something I always seem to omit, probably because I assume it's a given, is that... it's good to be fast.
The less time you spend with the cap off and filling, the better. Have the bottle shaken, cap off and ready to fill - cover hole - pop cap - fill - reinstall cap - invert - done. The faster you can do it, the less chance of enough juice making it's way into the atomizing chamber to matter.
If one must dawdle with the cap off, it's a good idea to cover the top of the chimney as well - then you have a true sealed chamber where no liquid can enter. I do this when I am preoccupied (a kinder descriptor than early onset Alzheimer's), get the cart before the horse and have the cap off the atty, before I've even taken the cap off the juice bottle.
For the moment, discounting the viscosity of the juice itself (a variable I can't effect from where I sit), consider that a good deal of how well this all works is down to the design of and material used for wicking. Yes, juice can flow into the channels, but in the time it takes to fill, is the wick sufficient to blot up that additional flow? (This is starting to sound like a tampon commercial

My usual cotton wicks look a bit like long bow-ties... and with genuine Kayfuns, Russians and 1:1 clones, I can comfortably go back to that "get it right 80% of the time" (I mentioned in the below thread link), where the remaining 20% I will get a drop... but never a flood.
Can I be made to look like a complete idiot or shameless liar? Absolutely. Excess time to fill, skinny and/or silica "minimalist" wick and water-thin juice may all conspire to make a clean top fill, very difficult if not impossible.
"Extra added hassle" versions of Kayfun, where the chimney unscrews when you take the cap off, and/or the o-ring comes off onto the chimney instead of staying in the cap - these are attys that should be either, fine tuned to correct those flaws... or filled via the filler screw.
(Anyone seeking a context for what Bunnykiller is referring to in post #20... please scroll to the last few posts in this thread for our (and dice57's) original conversation, regarding the glaring omission that would get me kicked out of the Jr. Scientists Club... if anyone told them
