To my mind if you open a tank the liquid leaks out, that means you're breaking a seal that was previously affecting the flow of the liquid directly indicating that there is a negative pressure acting upon the liquid. Whether you call that negative pressure a vacuum or not is at your personal discretion. People have committed far worse atrocities on the english language
It's great that you're all so civil whilst discussing the minutiae of the terminology but I think the real issue here is... it sure as hell isn't 'steeping', who the hell came up with that?! 'Aging' sure, I'd even go for 'Maturation' but steeping?
If anything needs a pedantic thread it's the term steeping
