Hi my name is Zoee and I have been smoking on a blu ecig for about 3 or 4 months and honestly unlike most people I am only switching because I need a throat hit. So I went and bought a generic starter kit with two generic ego 650 batts and two CE4 clearomizers with "long wicks". I liked the set up and the low price of only 30 bucks since it had a case too.

So I bought two liqua juices from them as well without much research. They are strawberry and watermelon and don't taste good and they are hurting my tongue. I've read about how it's a different inhale for ecigs than cigs and it still hurts. So after more research they are 70/30 and I'm going to switch to 100 VG to see if it helps.

Sorry for the long intro. I was wondering if there is another cart or tank you would suggest that works the best with thicker juices? I was looking at the mini kanger protank 2 as I've read a ton of great reviews but the mini vivi nova also interests me, somewhat for the colors as I'm a girl. I know the protank can be rebuildable and they say it's much more cost efficient so I was wondering if the mini vivi nova is too? I want something that isn't too much work but I understand to be cheaper there will be work involved.

For as much research and hours and hours of reading as I've done into ecigs, I still feel like I don't know the first thing! tanks and clearos and carts are the hardest thing for me to understand. Plus I was wondering if there's any drip tips you'd recommend? Thanks!

most of it matters on how thick the 100% vg ejuice is. most companys will dilute 100%vg with distilled water or other companys use pg based flavorings which will also make the juice alot thinner. there are alot of 100%vg juices that are going to work in every tank and some that just wont work because they are too thick. the easiest way to make the juice thinner is to add distilled water to it but you have to be careful as you can take away alot of flavor that way. i myself vape 100%vg ejuice and after struggling with finding a good setup to vape it i ended up getting a reo grand and a rm2 rebuildable atomizer which basically means i am dripping throughout my day but with an onboard bottle, so my juice will always wick correct no matter how thick it is

Hi and welcome to ECF! When I was using tanks on ego batteries, I mainly used the CE5 which does have replaceable coils (I generally ordered the replacement heads, didn't try rebuilding them myself). At that time my mixture was generally 70pg/30vg, so I don't really have experience with tanks and using 100 VG. The Kanger protanks do seem to be popular, and the vivi nova's are/were popular also, but as with most things, you will probably find various levels of satisfaction among people using them.

If you want more throat hit, I don't know if going to 100 VG will be helpful - I think what I remember hearing is that you will get more throat hit from PG than VG. You may want to try getting some juice from a different vendor to see if you still have an issue with it hurting your tongue. If there is a local B&M store in your area, you might want to stop in there to see if you can sample some different flavors before making a purchase.

Hopefully other members will come along with some more specific tank recommendations for you. Good luck on your continuing journey.

Hi Zoee,

Welcome to ECF. First, vaping is a very personal experience, and you can get 100 different recommendations from 100 different people. That said, use the recommendations you get as a guide, but don't be upset if your experience is different from the people that make the recommendations.

The CE4 with long wicks are a reasonable step up from the Blu, but you will likely have problems with high VG juices, as they don't usually wick the same as PG juices. I personally like the Protank 2 for high VG content juices, mostly because the coil at the bottom seems to stay moist better than the wicks at the top. I think the PT2 Mini would probably serve you well. I also like the iSmoka BCC (both the Mega and the Mini) for flavor and performance with thick juices, but they don't hold up well to strong flavors like cinnamon (known to crack plastic tanks).

I don't know about rebuilding the Vivi Novas, as I have never owned one or tried it. I can tell you that rebuilding the Kanger Protank coils is SIMPLE, the first one took me far too long because I thought it had to be absolutely perfect, but the second only took about 5 minutes and the third even less than that. While you can save money doing this, the reality is that a replacement 5 pack of coils for the Protanks is only about $8 or less, so if you don't want to spend the time rebuilding them, it is not so bad economically to buy coils.

About drip tips, like most everything regarding vaping, this is a really personal preference. I prefer to use very cheap plastic drip tips because they feel the best to me. I don't like whistle tips, the flat feels wrong, and stainless steel tips make my juice have a slightly metallic flavor, like drinking coke or beer from a can.

As far as your 2 juices go, do they have a "born on" date on the bottles? It is possible that they need to steep before tasting good. Most (if not all) juices should be steeped before vaping, it allows the flavor to firm up and often drastically changes it. I would recommend letting them sit for a couple of weeks to a month and trying them again.

I feel like the distilled water would be too much of a hassle and I would end up ruining the flavor. I'm confused on what you mean by dripping through out the day and on board bottle. Do you just refill it many times a day?

If you decide to go with 100% VG juice, you may have to experiment with distilled water to thin it out. Give it a try and see. I would start on a small scale though, maybe a drop or two in a tank full of juice and see what it does to the wicking and flavor of the juice. You can always try adding more if you aren't happy with the results.

As always ... YMMV!

HTH :D

Thank you so much for all of the great information! I ordered four 100%VG 5mL bottles to try and a 50mL bottle of sweetened VG base to make my new juices less irritating. Along with that I bought a mini protank 2 v2 and some replacement heads for about 5 bucks:) so excited to get started on this journey of being able to completely quit analogs!

It looks like you got some good tips there from devauto, and have a good order placed. I hope that everything works out well for you!

Thought PG gave more a throat hit compared to VG also with VG you get less flavour yet more plumes "clouds" obviously Nic will also be a dependable factor.

I mainly smoke 80/20 VG/PG and find it smooth yet if i smoke the other end of scale high PG get throat hit.

I'll phrase it a bit better:) I will gladly give up a throat hit to not have my tongue be irritated! I have very sensitive skin and I'm not surprised that I'm sensitive to this so I'm excited that VG is even an option as commonly there aren't two options for people with sensitivities it seems!

Yeah VG is the way to go if find PG intolerant, I'm neither just prefer thick juice for lack of throat / plumes and also it cuts down on leakage.
