I have been playing with a new PV with variable voltage options. To this point here is where I'm at.

Details of items used and various settings;
Carto's (1.5 (single and dual coil), 1.7, 2.0, and 3.0)
Carto tanks (see above)
VZ Nova2 Dual Coil Clearomizer 1.5 ohm
Atty (I'm not sure off hand of the resistance)

PV devices;

BuD Pro (non-vv)
ProVari 2.5

e-liquids;

Too many flavors to mention, but I have 25 to 35 bottles of various sizes (I know this isn't relavent) and PG/VG mixes.
The nic levels range from 24 to 12 in the above mentioned mixes.

#1) I can hardly taste any flavor that I vape no matter what voltage I have the setting at, or which resistance I'm using at the time. Anywhere from 3.4v to 5+ volts.

#2) I get the same ammount of vaper from different VV settings and even with the PG/VG flavors at different levels. For Example I had ordered 2 bottles of straight menthol, both at 18 nic One was 70PG/30VG and the other was 50PG/50VG. Both using 1.5 ohm cartos and testing at the same voltages (many different settings). I wanted to do an apples to apples comparison. There is absolutley no difference between the two juices. I have also done this with a couple of different flavors at different ohm level catos, with the exact same results :?:.

#3) Throat hit. Same results as above. I can't ditinguish any difference when doing the apples to apples comparison. I can tell a slight difference if I go from the menthol to something like a sweet flavor, but even that is a mild difference at best.

#4) The clearomizer tastes like plastic and I won't even try that one again to test the differencs. Go figure, I can't taste the e-liquids, but I'm all over the plastic crap taste :facepalm:.

I do have to say that I haven't really given the 3.0 ohm cartos a shot with the apples to apples comparison. But I wouldn't think that would make that much of a difference.

I am confused to whether this is my tastebuds or it is something else I'm doing all wrong. But with that being said I should at least see a difference in the vapor, right?
On a side note, at this point I prefer to use only carto tanks as they are just so easy to use. I do have a couple of Kanger Pros arriving tomorrow, but I'm not expecting that to help with the vape or taste either at this point.

Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. As I want to best maximize my vaping experience.

***Additional Note***
Going from the BuD Pro to the ProVari did produce a minimal gain in vapor amount, but I would have thought it should have been a greater amount then it was/is.

Also I do not have any reason to believe this is the fault of either PV. As they both seem to function quite well.

I was a heavy smoker as well, and for about the same amount of time. Give your taste buds a chance to reset - flavors tend to come one by one - will be able to taste, say, cinnamon heavily, but not some other flavor - even when the same strength. If you have completely quit analogs, as I have, you are going through a pretty major transition. Stay with it - at least 3 months - before we know what anything tastes like or what we really taste.

I don't think dual coils work well at all, try single coil cartos. I use the vivi nova and have no problems with plastic taste. First one I got was a knockoff but now I use only the vision brand.

I'll think about giving a Vision clearo brand a shot. I just can't get the thought of the plastic taste out of my mouth though.
As far as the cartos, I mainly used single coil (LR), as I have a ton of those from my BuD Pro left over. That is how I got to liking the carto tanks. I don't have to refill constantly and I can use up my supply, to get to my SR single coil cartos.
btw... This shouldn't make a difference with my questions but I have been slotting my cartos, instead of punching them. also I do have several that are pre-punched for the tanks already. I have left some of those as is and still have the same results.

And the type of anaolg I smoked was menthol!

Tyranny... I have this same issue w/ taste. I was a PAD smoker of menthols for almost 30 yrs. And right now the ONLY juices I can taste are menthols, mints, ice, cinnamon. Everything else just tastes like some weird "smoke". I can smell other flavors, but I sure cannot taste them. I'm told this will probably eventually pass. I hope so.
